Chapter Thirty-Nine

Chapter Thirty-Nine

Last night had been a great night. I still felt giddy about it as I walked into Derek's apartment complex building, going to see Allison the next morning to tell her all about it.

I stepped into the elevator, surprised to see Scott was there. "Hey, Scotty," I grinned.

"Hi, Paige." Scott greeted. "What're you doing here?"

"I'm here to see Allie." I respond, hitting her floor number on the panel.

"I just saw—" We stopped when a blind man appeared, holding out his stick to stop the elevator door from closing. He walked in, using his stick to navagtive. I felt Scott stiffen, eyes widening. I don't say anything.

"Going up?" The blind man questioned.

"Uh, yeah." I answered for us. "What number?"

"Penthouse, please." The man request and I pressed six. The elevator was silences as we ride. Once the man was gone, Scott turned to me as the door closed.

"That was Deucalion, leader of the Alpha pack." Scott explained quickly and my eyes widen. "He lives here. I need to tell Derek."

"O—Okay." I stuttered and we quickly exited this building, running down the block and finding Derek's loft. We ran up the stairs and rushed into his loft; seeing that Cora, Boyd, Peter, and Derek are standing around the table.

"I know where they are." Scott announced, slowly stopping at the group he saw. I have tried my best to avoid Peter as much as I can.

"Same building as the Argents, we know." Derek informed.

"Cora and I followed the twins." Boyd added on.

"Then they want you to know." Scott quickly said.

"Or, more likely, they don't care." Peter said.

"What is this?" Scott asked as we walked forward, seeing some blue prints on the table in front of us.

"Isn't it obvious?" Peter asked. "The schemers are scheming. Coming up with a coup de main, better known as a pre-emptive strike."

"You're going after them?" I asked.

"Tomorrow." Derek confirmed. "And you're both gonna help us. They're one floor above them in penthouse, right above Allison."

"So, kill them first, that's the plan?" Scott asked as I was trying to wrap my head around this whole plan.

"They won't even see it coming." Boyd had said.

"Why is the default plan always muruder?" Scott asked. "Just once, can someone try to come up with something that doesn't involve killing everyone?"

"You never get tired of being so blandly moral, do you?" Peter questioned. "Not that I disagree with him."

"I do." Cora snapped. "Why do we need these kids?"

"These kids helped saved your life." Derek tells his sister. "And you know we can't just sit back and wait for them to make the first move."

"You can't beat a pack of alphas." Scott said.

"That's why we're going after Deacalion, just him." Cora harshly said.

"Cut off the head of the snake and the body dies." Boyd tells Scott.

"Only, this isn't a snake, it's a Hydra." Peter corrected. "And like Scott says, they're all Alphas."

"Deucalion's still the leader." Derek continued with his arms crossed.

Peter turned to look at his nephew. "Let's hope so. Because you know what happened when Hercules cut off one of the heads of the Hydra?"

"Two more grew back in its place." Scott and I answer.

"Somebody did their summer reading." Peter spoke, impressed.

Now I stand in an abonaded mall at nighttime with Scott and Isaac. Standing just outside one shaft of light, Deucalion cocks his head, listening to our approach.

"You didn't come alone." Deucalion noticed.

"Yeah, this is Isaac and Paige." Scott introduced us. Not that I wanted an introduction, anyways.

"I'm not talking about Isaac and Paige." Deucalion spoke. The crunch of boots turns my head. Three silhouettes step into the light. Derek, Boyd and Cora.

"You knew I'd do this." Scott looked at Derek.

"I need your help, Scott." Derek tells him.

He passes through a shaft of light and into darkness. When he steps into the light again, he's a werewolf, fangs bared, red eyes glowing. Cora and Boyd transformed behind him, they approach, steady and fearless.

"Derek, don't. You can't do this and no one gets hurt. If someone dies—"

"Him. Just him." Derek snarled at Deucalion.

"Just me? Now how's a blind man find his way into a place like this all on his own?" Deucalion asked.

Derek pauses, lips pulling back from his fangs as we hears the click of Kalis claws against the cement pilla. One-by-one the Alphas slip out of the shadows. Kali, Ennis, Ethan and Aiden. Isaac glances to Scott with a worried look as, all around them, werewolves maneuver into fighting position.

I took a deep breath in. Well, at least I'm not dying a virgin, I thought.

Snarling, Derek rushes Deucalion. But Kali launches toward him, feet slashing. At the same time, Ennis quickly takes both Boyd and Cora to the ground.

Above, Ethan and Aiden leap off a platform. Two feet land below, the Twin Alpha formed. The creature roars, turning to face Scott and Isaac, both now transformed and charging into the fight. But as bodies hit the floor, limbs crack and blood flies. I cringed at that.

Ennis wrapped his powerful arms around me, getting me into a choke hold. I snarled and kneed him in the balls, hoping that would work. It did—he loosened up, allowing me to send a kick straight to his stomach and send him flying into a stone pilla.

Kali shoves Cora to the floor with a foot over her neck and the Twin Alpha drags a struggling Scott into a vise-like hold. Spitting blood, Boyd tries to push himself up from the cement floor as Derek turns to find him lying at his feet.

"Kill him. The others can go." Deucalion declared. All eyes look to Derek. Boyd peers up at him while still trying to find the strength to rise. "You're beaten. Do it, Derek. Take the first step."

Held by the Alphas, Scott and the others look on Derek and the choice presented to him. "Are we serious with this? Look at him. He's an Alpha? To what? A couple of useless teenagers?" Kali snarled.

"Some have more promise than others." Decalion spoke.

He turns slightly, almost as if he's looking at Scott. But the others keep their eyes on Derek. I think I was the only one that noticed. I was breathing heavily, and I was sure what to do, but I felt a grip around my arm, and I could feel the bones cracking as Ennis made me kneel to the ground. I let out a small whimper.

"Let him rise to the occasion then. What'll it be, Derek? Pack or family?" Kali questioned. Kali's eyes glow a fierce red as she pushes her foot down on Cora's neck, threatening to break it.

Derek looks from his sister to Boyd, an impossible decision. Until, his ear picks up a familiar sound of the drawing of a bow string. I smiled and closed my eyes, knowing Allison was here.

I slipped free of Ennis' grip. The Alphas were surprised, Deaucalion calling everyone out to cover their eyes.

"Allison?" Scott voiced and I opened my eyes once the flashes stopped through my eyes. I looked up to see her shape figure through behind a distant column. Lowering her bow, Allison gives him a quick smile and pulls back into the shadows. Using the moment of surprise, Scott launches toward Kali. Claws swiping, he sends her retreating back from Cora. "Run!"

As Derek pulls Boyd to his feet, Ennis drops me and charges like a battering ram toward Scott. But astonishingly, Scott drops his shoulder and rushes in to meet the Alpha. As they clash with brutal force, for the briefest second, Scott's eyes glowed red—the eyes of an Alpha.

My breath hitched for a moment, seeing it happen. I blinked but they were back to yellow. I think I was just dreaming.

But Scott tumbles back to the floor, eyes returned to yellow and not recovering nearly fast enough when he sees—Derek pulled to his feet by Ennis. Scrambling forward, Scott swipes at Ennis's ankle, catching him right in the Achilles' heel.

Ennis staggers forward. Derek's feet hit the floor, but he stumbles as well, Ennis's hands still locked on him. Both werewolves tumble backwards. I let out a shocked gasp, my hand covering my mouth.

"Derek—" Scott called out, Ennis and Derek both go off the side of the escalator platform. Their bodies fall, slamming to the pavement with a terrible cracking sound the world turning black.

Ella Speaks
Hi. Very sorry for the short chapter, but I decided to split this episode, it makes things easier for me a little lol. Yeah anyways I just wanted to say that I probably won't write any more smut, it makes me ick, I just rlly enjoy the soft relationship Stiles and Paige most likely have. So, sorry not sorry, but it's my decision and if you don't want to read anymore understandable. Thanks fir the understanding 🖤
