Chapter Six

Chapter Six

Lacrosse.

That's been all anyone's raving about, there's a big game tonight, or should I say, in a few hours. It has been exactly a week since I got drunk, to be quite honest with you, I don't actually remember anything about that night. It made finding my car very difficult that Saturday morning when Allison dropped me off at my car. It has also been a week since I had that conversation with Derek and surprisingly, I haven't seen him since. And I'm slightly convinced that I'll never see him again, which is a good thing, I guess.

Lydia insisted that after the game, Allison, Scott, Jackson, her, and I all went out to celebrate the win. I told her, "Lydia, we don't know if we've one," she turned around to me and said; "I can predict the future,"

So, now I'm getting ready for the Agents to pick me up. I'm getting rather nervous considering the last time I had met with the Argents. But, Allison reassured me that it was just her Dad coming. Her Mom didn't want me to go.

I touched up the final look. Nothing special, just some light makeup, skinny jeans and a hoodie. I left my wavy hair down, deciding it'd be too much to deal with right now. I slipped on some converse and made my way downstairs when I heard a car approach the house. That must be them.

I rushed around, turning off all the lights in the household. I opened the door, but was faced to my Mom in her hospital uniform. She looked at me, surprised.

"Oh, hello, Paige," she spoke in a surprised tone, staring down at me. "Where are you off to?"

A blush grew on my cheeks. "I—uh, me and my friend are going to the lacrosse game that's at the high school. She's coming to pick me up."

She smiled at me. "That's okay, just be sure to be back straight after the game ends."

"Uh..." I mumbled and she raised an eyebrow, expecting more. "I'm going out with some more friends, to celebrate if we win..."

"Okay," she agreed slowly, thinking over what I had just said. "Who are these friends, Paige?"

I bite my lower lip. "Lydia Martin, Jackson Whittemore, Scott McCall, Stiles Stilinski and Allison Argent."

She nods her head. "That's okay, they're lovely people. Have fun, your curfew is 1.30, no later." She kissed my forehead and moved inside the house.

"How was work?" I questioned, turning around on my heel. Might as well have a conversation with her, it feels like ages since we've had a conversation.

"It's hell," she spoke truthfully, dumbing her bag on the kitchen counter. "But worth it. I've got tomorrow off, we could have a girls day or something. A spa day, Lucy quite liked those," I almost cringed at it. Mom and Lucy would always do spa days whenever Mom was free from work and I never liked them. They forced me to go anyway.

I nod my head, agreeing. It's nice to know that my mother still wants to spend time with me, I guess. Suddenly, another car pulls up alongside the street. I turned around, the Argents were in their SUV. Allison waves from the front side.

"By Mom!" I quickly said. "Love you!" I got a "love you" back and closed the door behind me. I quickly walked over to them and jumped into the back.

We made quiet conversation making our way to the game.

I have never been to a Lacrosse game. So, I was surprised when showing up the High School's field, seeing it all packed. It has twelve huge stadium lights surrounding the area, glowing the field. Bleachers are filled with people and there are benches down below for the Lacrosse players.

Allison, Chris, and I merge our way into the crowd, sitting up near the top to get a better view.

"Allison! Paige!" Lydia had found us. She shuffles her way towards us, just as we are about to sit down. She spots Chris, giving him a friendly smile. "Hello, I'm Lydia,"

Chris nods. "I'm Allison's father." Allison smiled nervously at Lydia as she sits between Allison and I. Lydia had brought these big signs, two, to be exact and they're both to boost her boyfriend's ego. I almost rolled my eyes, like he needs his ego to be boosted. It's the size of Mount Everest already.

"I just know we're going to win," Lydia breathes out, her eyes focusing on the field. I don't understand what her big deal of having to win all the time, or having the best of the best beside her side. If anything, she is the best of the best; she's genuinely the smartest person at this school, she doesn't need these tools to drag her down and let her waist her smarts.

The whistle then blows, meaning the game is starting. Both teams jog to the field. My leg bounces up and down anxiously, I hope we win. I mean, it would be pretty embarrassing if we don't win. This is based at our school!

I can't remember the last time I went to a high school sports game. It was probably when my Lucy and Sam went to school. Lucy was the cheerleader captain and Sam was the captain of the basketball team. Lacrosse was never a thing until five years ago. I guess they've stopped cheerleading as well, thank God, because I just know that my parents would've forced me to go.

"Down!" The Referee shouts out. "Set!" He then blew the whistle and the game's started. Our team had gotten the ball first. I watched as Scott's in the open; asking for the ball, holding his lacrosse stick up. No one handed him the ball. Our team players throw the ball back and forward towards each other heading towards our goal.

And then, we had lost the ball. Scott eyes the ball first and runs towards it, Jackson immediately notices this and runs for the ball as well. My mouth almost drops when Jackson shoves Scott aside, Scott instantly falls on the ground. Jackson scoops up the ball and everyone just ignores what Jackson did.

Jackson had scored.

Of course, the crowd goes wild.

"That's it Jackson, get fired up!" Coach had yelled, throwing his hands in the air towards Jackson who went to celebrate with his team.

"Brutal." I muttered.

"Allison, help me hold up this sign!" Lydia tells Allison. Allison reluctantly agrees and holds up a sign "we luv you Jackson". I rolled my eyes, looking away from them and focusing back on the ground.

Then, round after round we were getting points and then the other time was getting points. The score is 3-5 and I'm getting a little bit nervous, we only have a few minutes before the game is over. Are we even going to win?

"Which one is Scott again?" Chris had let towards the girls.

"Number eleven." Lydia stares at Scott, almost glaring at him. "Otherwise known as the only one who hasn't caught a single ball this entire game."

I felt a little annoyed at that. I turned my head towards Lydia. "Well, maybe if your boyfriend didn't have a huge ego then we wouldn't be losing right now."

Before Lydia could respond, Allison interjects. "I hope he's okay,"

"I hope we're okay," Lydia muttered. "We need to win this." She then jumps up and holds another sign. She's part of the reason for Jackson's huge ego. "Allison, a little help here?"

Allison blinks out of her daze as she stares off at Scott. She quickly got up and helped Lydia, everyone started to cheer. I rolled my eyes.

Everyone got into position again after the ten minute break. "Down!" The referee yelled. "Set!" The whistle blows. The ball flew high in the air and Scott caught it easily. I felt a sense of pride when he caught the ball and by the looks of Allison's reaction, she is too.

Scott sprints down the field towards our goal, easily dodging everyone who came his way. Scott had scored, making it 4-5. But, we're still losing by one point. We need two more points to win and we only have minutes left before the game ends, which makes me nervous.

However, I jumped up along with Allison. We both cheered for Scott, giving each other huge smiles. We even hugged briefly, laughing. I knew Scott could pull through. I side glanced to watch Lydia's reaction. Her jaw clenched as she clapped along with everyone else. She was mad. But, I'm satisfied. I sat back down with Allison.

"To McCall! Pass to McCall!" Coach was yelling down on the field to his players.

"Set!" The referee continues. Everyone got into their positions. The team had gotten the ball. But, it was only for a few seconds because the other team player had actually handed Scott the ball. My eyes widen. Is that even allowed?

Allison and I glanced at each other unsurely.

And then we got another point. The crowd jumps up and cheers for our team, I stand up slowly but cheer anyway. After a few minutes we sit back down and wait for the referee. "Set! Down!"

The suspense is killing me. We only have a few seconds until the buzzer goes off. I shiver, realising that I didn't bring a jacket. At all. I rolled my eyes at myself. I rub my own arms, trying to get warmer. I pressed my lips together, watching Scott run up the goal.

Two opposing team players' is opposite Scott. I watched as the timer ticked down faster. Almost five seconds until the buzzer goes off. Scott then throws the ball, it sores through the sky, and straight into the goal.

Everyone jumped up; cheering. I smiled widely as everyone ran to the field. I made my way down slowly, my heart racing. We won. I can't believe we won... Holy shit.

I made it to the field. I felt nervous trying to find Allison or her father. I lost them in the crowd; they're my ride home... I kind of need them. Just about everyone is taller than me. I'm 4'8. Yes, I'm extremely short.

Suddenly, I bumped into someone. "Oh! I'm so sorry," I muttered out my apology, only to realise that it was Stiles who had bumped into me. His own eyes widened as he looked at me.

"I—I'm sorry," Stiles stutters out, being his awkward self. "Hey, you look like you're freezing,"

I shrugged, biting my lower lip. "Uh... No, no, I'm fine." I lied, shaking my head. And before I know it, Stiles shrugs off his lacrosse jumper and hands it to me. "Oh, I couldn't possibly—"

"Seriously, take it," Stiles continued to stretch out his arm towards me. "I'm rather warm anyways." Shyly, I take it. I put the jacket on, instantly feeling warm. I tried to hide the blush that was forcing its way to the surface on my cheeks. "Have you—Have you seen Scott, by any chance?"

"Um, no." I respond. "I was about to ask if you've seen Allison... She's kind of my ride."

"Oh." He muttered. "I might have an idea where they are... Do you wanna come?"

I scratch behind my head, nodding. "Yeah, I'll come..."

"Hey, kids," I looked up and saw Sheriff Stilinski standing behind his son, smiling. "Paige, nice to see you again."

I gave him a smile. "Nice to see you too, Sheriff Stilinski."

"Ready to go, Stiles?" Sheriff Stilinski questioned his hand on Stiles' shoulder.

"Uh... I need to go get Scott and Allison with Paige," Stiles half explained. "I'll be five minutes—"

"Uh, excuse me I need to take this," Sheriff Stilinski had picked up the phone and Stiles frowned.

"Dad, what's wrong?" Stiles asked, frowning.

I kind of pried away from Stiles after that while he listened to his father. I moved my way into the school, having an idea myself where Allison and Scott might've gone. I walked into the halls and towards the locker room.

"Paige!" I heard someone call my name and I turned around swiftly to see Stiles jogging towards me. "Hey,"

I half-smiled at him. "Hi. Sorry, I thought the conversation between you and your Dad seemed important—"

"It's okay," Stiles brushes it off. "Let's go get them." He led the way into the locker room. It was dark. All the lights are off, which kind of made me think that they're not here. Until we made our way into the back of the locker room, where the showers were.

There was Allison and Scott, lip locking each other. I gulp a little, feeling uncomfortable as they stand under the shower cap. I take a step back into the locker room, bumping into Stiles.

"Oh, sorry," I mumbled, as my back hits Stiles' chest. I shuffled forward. Clearly, Allison noticed this and broke off their kiss, a blush covering her face.

"I should go, my Dad's waiting for me," Allison had whispered to Scott, smiling, making eye contact with him. She then pulled away from him and walked towards Stiles and I. "Stiles. Paige."

She grabbed my hand, pulling me away from Stiles. "Bye, Stiles," I waved, turning my head to him slightly. Stiles waves back awkwardly before walking towards Scott. Allison and I made it into the hallways.

"Is that Stiles' jacket?" Allison questioned, eyeing me as we walked down the hallway.

I smacked her playfully. "You just kissed Scott, don't make this all about me!"

She laughed. "Okay..."

"How was it?"

She grinned. "Perfect. I love every single moment of it..." I felt a little jealous, if I was completely honest. But, I'm happy for her, truly.

"I'm happy for you, Allison,"

She giggled. "Thanks! I'll help you get Stiles, don't worry,"

My eyes widen and I glared at her. "I don't like him like that!"

She scoffed. "You're wearing his jacket!"

"So?" I mumbled shyly. "Doesn't mean I like him. He was just being kind."

"So you might not like him, but he definitely likes you—"

I shake my head. "That's ridiculous. He's had a crush on Lydia since the 3rd grade."

"Lydia has a boyfriend," she rolled her eyes. "She'd never leave Jackson, clearly, no offense to Stiles but... You should at least try,"

I sighed as we made our way towards Chris in the parking lot. "I've known him since we were kids. It'd be too weird if we dated anyways."

Allison pouts. "But I really want us to go on double dates! That'd be so much fun!"

I shrugged. "I guess..."

"You girls ready to go?" Chris eyes us as we approached him. I smiled awkwardly at him. I still felt weird after the other weekend.

I nodded. "Yes, we are."
