Once classes had come to an end, all students began making their way home to enjoy their weekend and unwind from the madness they experienced today. Though for certain students, they stayed after school for a special human's kickboxing class, now even bigger with several new students joining, but before that could happen, Luz had to tell them why she was wearing a multi colored uniform when they all had only one color. One story of heroism, new friends, and a secret room that Luz refused to reveal how to get in later, the class was left shocked (minus Gus, Willow, and Amity) to hear that Luz and 3 others saved Hexside from the Greater Basilisk and were allow to study multiple tracks! It had never been done before and to hear that Luz chewed Bump out to get this reward, made them respect her more...and fear her more.
"Alright, now that story time is out of the way, I'd like to say good evening, everyone. I'm glad to see you could make it for the first class of the new semester. It makes me happy to see that you all wish to continue to learn." Luz said, standing on the boxing ring to address every while still in her uniform. "Before we get started, I'd like for all the new students joining us today to introduce themselves. Please give us your name, Track, and favor types of magic."
Looking towards one of the new students, everyone watched as a girl from Amity's friend group stood up and cleared her throat. She had dark skin and brown wavy hair with a side bang, wears squared glasses with black frames over her brown eyes and has a red lower lip. Her Hexside uniform has blue sleeves and leggings, showing that she was in the Healing Track, and black clog style shoes.
"Hello, my name is Cat. I am a proud student of the Healing Track, and my favorite magic is levitation magic." Cat said as she drew a spell circle, making her self glow in a blue outline before making herself float in the air 2 feet.
"Levitation magic, very interesting in." Luz said with a nod.
"It has its uses." Cat said as she floated back to the ground and sat back with Amity's group.
The next two to stand up were Edric and Emira Blight, two of the oldest in the class and the newest students as of today.
"Hello, everyone. I don't know if you already know us but I'm Emira and this is my brother, Edric." Emira said as she gestured to herself and to Edric.
"We're Amity's older siblings and students of the Illusion Track. Our favorite magic is, and this should be obvious, Illusion Magic." Edric said as he and Emira drew spell circles to poof themselves in smoke.
When the smoke cleared, both Blight twins were shown to have new appearances because of their magic. Emira now posses 3 pairs of arms, all four sprouting out of her back, and Edric's arms were now 3 times as long.
"Oooh!" Everyone said before they clapped for the Blight twins.
'Impressive, those kinds of physical illusions can make them instant winners in a match.' Luz thought with a nod as the twins undid their spells and saw back down on two mats in between Amity's group and the H.A.S.
"Alright everyone, before we get started on today's lesson, I'd just like to say something." Luz said as everyone watched with curiosity. "Jerbo, Viney, Barcus. I know you guys are watching. If you wanted to join the club, I have no problem with it. Everyone is welcome here!"
Curious to why said that, a door suddenly opened above Luz as everyone looked up to see the three from Luz's story peak in.
"You knew we were watching?" Jerbo asked in surprise.
"Bark!/(You must have ESP!)" Barcus said/barked with wide eyes.
"I had a hunch you guys would be interested but you could've just asked to join the class. I wouldn't have turned you guys down." Luz said up to them as everyone else (minus Willow, Gus, and Amity) gazed at them in surprise.
"Yeah...I guess we were just nervous about people judging us." Viney said as she rubbed that back of her head.
"Well you won't have to worry about that here. No one will judge you because of your magic or anything else, that's a rule of my class. Now come on down and join us." Luz said as she smiled to her friends, gesturing them to jump down from the door.
Looking towards each other with smiles, the trio of duel trackers jumped from the door and shut it with Jerbo being last. They landed in the ring next to Luz and waved to everyone.
"Hi, everyone. If you hadn't guess, we're the fellow troublemakers Luz mentioned. I'm Viney and my favorite Magic's are Healing and Beast Keeping as you can see." Viney said as she gestured to her blue sleeves and orange leggings.
"My name is Jerbo and I favor Plants and Abominations." Jerbo said with pride, letting his green sleeves and magenta leggings show his pride.
"Ruff ruff, bark./(Name's Barcus, favorite are Potions and Oracle.)" he said/barked with a nod to everyone, raising his purple and yellow sleeves to give a double thumbs up.
"Hi! Hello. Nice to meet you." Several people said as they waved to the trio.
"Alright, now that ALL of us are here, why don't you guys find a spot to sit so we can get started?" Luz asked them before the Blight Twins raised their hands.
"They can sit with us!" Both said, wanting to sit next to the troublemakers.
Though they didn't mean to cause trouble, the twins wanted to know if they had any other stories to share about their experiments in mixing magic.
"If that's fine with them." Luz said as she turned to them, seeing them nod before making their way out of the ring. "And it appears it is. Now, before today's schedule begins, I'd like to discuss an important topic in kickboxing. What main type you classify as."
"Type?" Willow asked before raising her hand. "What do you mean by that, Luz?"
"What I mean is what kind of type of fighting you would prefer from the appearance you give. For me, there are 4 types a fighter can be classified in for a combat sport." Luz said as she held up her fingers to explain." First, there's a "Striker," someone that specializes in attacking and relies on power, precision, or both in their strikes to win a match."
Everyone that saw the fight from the Covention, visualized Luz delivering a barrage of punches to an opponent and overwhelming them with ease.
"Next, is a "Slugger," someone that specialize their defense such and blocking or dodging, focusing on tiring you out with their defense strategy to make up for the lack of a KO or knockout power." Luz said as she held up two fingers.
This time, everyone visualized Amity in her abomination armor with her guard up and tanking all hits given to her.
"Thirdly, is an "Outboxer." Based on the "Slugger" type I explained before, this type can focus more on speed, footwork, and precision to win but it sacrifices striking power and defense power. You'd have to be fast enough to dodge and strike if you face an opponent with more weight than you." Luz said as she held up three fingers.
With the newest addition of Jerbo to the class, everyone was able to visualize him dodging attack and striking with swift speed but small power.
"Finally, the last type is "Balance," a fighter that has a perfect combination of speed, power, and defense in their fighting style. This makes it hard to identify when fighting them and hard to overcome them if they surpass you in one area or more." Luz said as she held up four fingers.
"Okay, so today, you'll help us classify what type we all are?" Cat asked before Luz shook her head.
"I'm afraid not. I can guide you to a certain type but it's up to do to decide what type you'll be. I myself worked hard to try and fit into the "Balance" type in kickboxing but lean more being a "Striker."" Luz said as she rubbed her chin, looking." If I went by view alone, I could say that Willow and Bo could identify as "Sluggers" types because of their slightly big body types, Jerbo and Gus could classify as "Outboxers" because of their thin or small frames, and Amity and Boscha could be considered "Strikers" for their athletic builds. And that's not even taking into account the magics you guys could use."
Taking in all the information, everyone mumbled amongst themselves as they wondered what type they could be while those that Luz identified by looked over themselves to see if she was right or not.
'Well...I suppose Luz isn't wrong. All this muscle could help in taking hit.' Willow thought as she flexed her right arm a bit, seeing the muscle she's built up.
'Hmm, I wonder if my magic could help me be a "Striker" and an "Outboxer."' Gus thought as he wondered back to Edric's example of illusion magic, those longer arms could help with striking.
'Yeah, that seems about right.' Amity and Boscha thought, having some history with sports that made them more athletic than their friends.
From there class went as everyone, aside from the six new students, remembered.
1. Warm Up Exercises: Push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, squats, and mountain climbers.
2. Stance and Movement Drills: Basic review of the stances, strikes, and movements from the last class. Including leading them movement by movement.
3. New Techniques/Exercises: Luz decides to teach the class a new type of punch that worked best for a Striker's K.O., The Russian Hook, and the importance of footwork for all types. More so Outboxers than the rest while Barcus had some trouble do to his four legs but he managed to get it down.
(A Russian Hook differs from a normal hook, a rounded punch to either the head or body in an arching motion, because it has greater power behind it due to the more arching force provided. The downside is that if used at the wrong time, it leaves you open and defenseless. Should be used only for a finishing/K.O. punch.)
(Footwork is one of the most important factors in combat sports and other martial arts. It makes us hit harder by allowing us to throw our body weight behind our punches and kicks, puts us in a position to hit by allowing to move and zone to the areas where the opening may be available, and lastly it gets us out of danger by allowing us to move and evade any incoming attacks.)
4. Review Rounds: Everyone shows what they learned from before and how they mix it with their favored magic spells.
5. A short break, 15 to 20 minutes, with provided bottles of water. Though this time, health snacks were provided as well.
6. Solo Drills: This time, everyone chooses something to work on, either from before or something new they learned today to help make it better. Surprisingly, Amity, Boscha, Willow, Bo, and Viney decided to work on the Russian Hook despite the downside of it. Mostly because they had the builds to make up for the opening after delivery.
7. Attack and Defense Drills: Everyone paired up to show and practice everything they know in terms of striking and defense.
8. Second water and snack break, 20 minutes.
9. Situational Sparring Games: Sets of games with preset rules to help them improve in certain areas, everyone had a choice of which game they wanted to play. Give three, get three (throwing three strikes before giving three of your own), Limit (Only using one set of punches or kicks in a certain stance), Evasion (One person is constantly attack with the other only defends or dodges), Cat and Mouse (One person pressures the other, who does all they can to evade and keep a good distance), and Punch and Clutch (utilizing clinches , two people go in with one trying to clinch while the other tries to keep their distance).
10. Review Rounds 2: Everyone chose two lessons to show and display for the 30 second rounds as class slowly drew to an end. Just as Luz predicted, Jerbo showed that he had great potential to be a Outboxer as he dodged swiftly and used swift footwork.
11. Cool down and stretch: Everyone stretched and relaxed to avoid soreness in the next morning. A hot shower or bath was also advised just in case the stretches weren't enough.
Looking towards the clock, Luz saw it struck 6:30 p.m., an entire hour later then last time.
'Hmm, maybe this should be the latest we stay. Can't have anyone getting in trouble because of me.' Luz thought as she looked over everyone.
"Alright everyone, that's all for today. I hope you all take what I've taught to heart and pick what type of fighter you are." Luz said before walking to the door and opening it for everyone. "I hope you guys have a great weekend and I'll see you guys next week."
Everyone gave Luz a wave and a goodbye as they went on their way home, with the 6 newest students going last to give Luz some comments.
"Boscha was right, your class is pretty cool and it's a great workout." Cat said with a smile and a handshake to Luz before she left.
"That was even better than I thought it would be!" Emira said with a nod. "I am so coming back for more!"
"That makes two of us." Edric added as they gave Luz hug and a double noogie. "See yeah next week, teach!"
Breaking away from the twins and fixing her hair, Luz turned to the last three.
"So guys, how'd you like your first kickboxing class?" Luz asked them.
"Amazing!" Viney said with a smile.
"Incredible!" Jerbo said as he punched the air!
"RUFF RUFF RUFF RUFF!/(I MAY NOT BE THE BREED BUT FROM NOW ON, CALL ME A BOXER!)" Barcus barked/said as he hopped on his hide legs!
Luz chuckled at their excitement as they gave their goodbyes, heading out of the classroom so she could lock up.
