Luz Noceda, The Fighter Opening: Believe in Myself Cover By NateWantsToBattle (I do not own this song)

Luz stands before the cliff over the boiling sea next to the owl house, letting the wind blow through her hair and clothes.

Believe in myself

And my dream this world

It will never end

Luz lifted her hands up, looking at her glyph gloves before she clenched them into fists, gaining a looking of determination.

I'll chase it

I'll speed up!

Speed up!

She activated her fire glyphs and slammed her fists together in a flash!

I'm running faster

Chasing what's in front of me

Now I'll just believe in myself

Luz is now walking through Bonesborough, thinking of her life.

You light my fire

Your touch ignites

The flames in my heart

Makes me want to feel your emotion

Her life on Earth, lonely and full of anger with the only person by her side being her mother, Camila.

Whatever will be, will be

How our hearts are crashing waves

And our souls are vast like an ocean

Her life in the demon realm however, was full of adventures, close friends, and love with Eda, King, Gus, Willow, and Amity by her side.

With the strongest tides we'll drown our sorrows

In a dark void, Eda and Lilith side by side while facing a shadow silhouette of the owl beast, pointing their glyph gloves at it.

Take my hand and tell me

Are you ready to play fair?

Luz and the Golden Guard stood on the battlefield, ready to fight each other!

Believe in myself

And my dream this world

Luz blasted towards G.G., throwing a punch and a kick that he dodged before he jumped into the air.

It will never end

Golden Guard fired a barrage of red energy blasts at Luz, creating a smokescreen!

I'll chase it

I'll speed up!

Speed up!

Luz jumped from the smoke and punched at Golden Guard, clashing her fist against his staff!

Believe in myself

You're not alone now

A transparent silhouette of Luz was running as she passed by all the friends she made (Eda, King, Willow, Gus, the Blight twins, Boscha and her crew, the Human Appreciation Society, the dual track students, and Amity).

And our future is near

It's coming

Luz was now running past a line up of her enemies, the Emperor's Coven (including Kikimora and the Golden Guard).

Let's speed up!

Speed up!

The ultimate enemy rose like a giant, Belos, with his eyes glowing before lightning flashed before him.

I'm running faster

Chasing what's in front of me

Luz was back at the cliff near the owl house, sitting as she looked up to the moon before Amity walked up to her.

Now I'll just believe in myself

She sat down next to Luz before holding her hand, gazing at the moon with her.

(Shout out to Mr. Hardcor3 for his aid.)

It was time for another kickboxing class after an unknown hiatus from Hexside, something that all of the students attending were happy for since they either wanted to ask Luz questions about the style they used or sharpen their skills with some friendly competition. Though, they would have to wait for that since Luz had a rather special lesson today.

"Alright, everyone calm down, I want to make a little announcement for today." Luz said, getting everyone attention. "I know we haven't gotten together in a while and I apologize for that, I only hope you all have been practicing in your spare time."

An arrange of murmuring was heard with nods as everyone did practice when they had the chance, though among the students, one of them were missing. One of the very first and best, Willow.

'Hmm, could she not make it?' Luz thought before noticing Gus's saddened expression. 'I guess Gus must know something. I'll ask him after class.'

"Anyway, today's lesson will be about something very important, blocking out trash talk." Luz said to them.

"Trash talk?, really?" Boscha asked, confused by this.

"Um, Luz, why are we going over something we already know?" Skara asked as she raised her hand.

"We're going over this because it could make or break you before a match even begins. A person trash talking can get you riled up and unfocused. If you let them get to you, it can get to disqualified or leave you open for an attack before you were blinded by anger." Luz said as she looked over everyone. "Even if they don't know anything about you, just insulting you from your appearance alone can throw you off."

Luz could see some of them nodding in agreement while others looked hesitant, not believing it would be that big of a problem. So, a little example had to be made and she had the perfect people in mind.

"Boscha, Jerbo. Please, step into the ring." Luz said, surprising everyone. "We're going to have a little example of trash talking and how it can effect you."

The aforementioned witches got up and entered the ring from both sides, moving to the middle as Luz stood before them.

"I am going to act as the ref and you two are going to have one round, a full three minutes, to beat the other. Boscha, you will be the recipient, and Jerbo, you will be the trash talker."

"Wait, you mean I get to insult Boscha?" Jerbo asked in surprise.

"Yes, you do." Luz said with a nod.

"And she CAN'T trash talk me back?" Jerbo asked.

"No, she can't. She is just to fight by the rules and try to keep a cool head." Luz said as she looked to Boscha. "Understood?"

"Yeah, I get it." Boscha replied with a nod.

"Hehehehe, okay. This might not be so bad." Jerbo said as they got into their fighting positions.

Boscha moved put her right side forward and her right arm in front in a swaying motion while her left arm tucked close to her chest, bouncing her heels a bit. Jerbo had his arms at his sides while bouncing on her feet, locking eyes with Boscha.

"Fighters, begin!" Luz said as she moved away from them, watching from a corner.

'This will be easy.' Boscha thought since she was in the class longer.

"Are you...just going to stand there or do I need to come closer?" Jerbo asked, confusing Boscha. "It's just, I heard having three eyes isn't that easy and your eye sight is actually worse than normal people with two eyes."

"Excuse me?" Boscha asked, feeling insulted already.

"What? I'm just saying if you want me to move a little closer to help you see better, I could." Jerbo said as he bounced forward a bit.

"Do I look like I need your pity?!" Boscha asked as she rushed forward, punching as Jerbo bounced back to dodge.

"I think you do, you just missed." Jerbo said with a smirk.

Boscha growled at him before she continued throwing punches, making Jerbo dodge as fast as he could by bouncing or stepping! He had put a lot of effort into making use of his footwork with his long legs.

'Look for an opening, Luz said she'd get sloppy because of her anger.' Jerbo thought.

"Are you sure you can see right, pinky? I thought you could do better as the school Grudgby star!" Jerbo said to her.

"Shut up!" Boscha shouted as she jumped at him with a flying knee, making Jerbo duck and jump away. "Get back here!"

She dropped her Hitman stance and began throwing wide punches, full of power but no precision! Just as Luz said, everyone could see Boscha's technique has suffered because she got so worked up. Jerbo could dodge all of her punches before he gave her a straight kick to the stomach!

"Gah!" She let out in pain.

"Sorry, but you're wide open!" Jerbo shouted as he kicked up to her chin, sending her back, before charging at her! "Night night!"

DING-DING!

Jerbo stopped his punch as Boscha fell to the mat, holding her chin in pain.

"And that's the round." Luz said as she walked to them. "Such as I said, trash talking can make your techniques sloppy and your focus slip."

'Yeah, I can see that now.' Boscha thought as she thought back to her bullying days, all those insults she gave to others was just like the trash talking Jerbo just dished out at her. 'Wow, I can dish out out but I can't take it in.'

That thought was on Boscha's mind the rest of class as they continued through the usual workout schedule.

1. Warm Up Exercises: Push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, squats, and mountain climbers.

2. Stance and Movement Drills: Basic review of the stances, strikes, and movements from the previous classes until now.

3. New Techniques/Exercises: Parrying and Slipping.

Parrying is a defensive technique in combat sports, a way to deflect a thrusting or swinging attack by using your own thrusting or swinging attack to push your opponent in another direction.)

(Slipping is both a defensive and offensive technique that allows the fighter to recover quicker and counter punches faster than the opponent can reset into proper fighting stance. Timing is the key factor into a perfect slip to protect yourself and save energy or else it will leave one exposed for a counter punch and be unbalance.)
4. Review Rounds: Everyone shows what they learned from before and how they mix it with their favored magic spells, this time with trash talking to help everyone block it out or properly deal with it.

5. A short break 20 minute water break.

6. Solo Drills: Everyone is given something to work on, either from before or something new they learned for a flawless execution and slow movements to perform a stance, attack, or dodge perfectly.

7. Attack and Defense Drills: Attacking and defending with a sparring partner in short controlled matches.

8. Another 20 minute water break.

9. Situational Sparring Games: Give three, get three (throwing three strikes before giving three of your own), Limit (Only using one set of punches or kicks in a certain stance), Evasion (One person is constantly attack with the other only defends or dodges), Cat and Mouse (One person pressures the other, who does all they can to evade and keep a good distance), and Punch and Clutch (Introducing clinches to the class, two people go in with one trying to clinch while the other tries to keep their distance.)

10. Review Rounds 2: Practicing parrying and slipping in 30 second rounds against Luz.

11. Cool down and stretch.

Once the class was complete, everyone said their goodbyes and exited the room to head home...all but one. Luz looked and saw Gus still sitting in his spot with his head against his knees while hugging them with his arms.

'Something has been bugging him all of class and it's time I figured you what.' Luz shit the door to give them some privacy, walking towards Gus and sitting next to him.

"Gus, is something wrong? You can tell me." Luz said to him.

"Yes." He said, his voice muffled. "I screwed up, Luz. I screwed up BIG."

"Screwed up what? And how big are we talking?" Luz asked him, putting a hand in his shoulder.

"Titanic, that's how big." Gus said as he pulled his head up. "You know how Willow wasn't in here today?"

"Yeah, go on." Luz said to him.

"Willow needed help with these pixies and I thought an illusion could lure them away and then-"

"They saw through it, didn't like it, and attacked her anyway?" Luz finished for him, making Gus groan.

"Yes, they did. It's got me thinking, what if I'm not meant to be an illusionist? I moved up too grades because of how talented I am in illusion magic but what's the point of having it if I can't do anything with it besides tricks that fail?" Gus asked as he put his head back in his knees.

Luz moved to pat him in the back and thought of something to say.

"It's gonna be okay, Gus. Anyone could've made that mistakes, you shouldn't think so badly about yourself just because of one failed illusion." Luz said as he looked to her, giving him a smile. "Besides, we both know Willow is the toughest girl in our grade. She'll bounce back from this."

"Yeah...yeah, you're right." Gus said, feeling a bit better.

"Just wait, by tomorrow, I'm sure you'll both be feeling better and moving on from this." Luz said with a smile.

-Tomorrow Morning-
After a good breakfast and some practice in her training shack, Luz was making her way towards the town library to search for the journal of the first human to live in Bonesborough. If it really was there and he found a way back to Earth, Luz could finally create a new portal to maintain her life on Earth AND her life in the demon realm. She had also been working on Glyph combinations to work on aside from Invisibility, which she had incorporated into one of her glyph glove but that's not important right now. Luz had to get to the library and find the journal, though something else was on her mind right now.

'Hmm, I should probably check on Gus. He and Willow should be back to normal by now.' Luz thought as she pulled out her phone, looking up Gus's home address in her notes. 'Thankfully, they gave me their addresses a while ago. Gus's place should be close by.'

Following the directions and address on in her notes, Luz arrived at the humble abode of the Porters and knocked on the door. She put her phone away and waited for a few moments before the doors opened and Gus stood before her, wearing a blank expression on his face. Luz could immediately tell why he had this expression.

"Ooooh, things not good with Willow?" Luz asked with a small wince.

Gus just shook his head to reply, knowing how bad things still are.

"I tried to make her feel better by sending "Get Well" illusions but she called me and said they pestered her too much, so I called them back." Gus said with a dull tone.

"Ouch! Yikes." Luz said as she rubbed her arm a bit. "Sorry to hear that."

"Yeah, thanks I guess. So, did you stop by just to check up on me?" Gus asked her.

"Yeah, I did and it looks like you could still use some cheering up." Luz said before she grabbed his arm. "Come on, you're joining more for a walk and talk to the library."

"Wait, WHYYYYY?!" Gus shouted as he was dragged out of his house and the door shut behind him.

"Because anything is better than sitting at home and moping all day." Luz said to him, dragging him through the town.

As the two walked, with Luz letting Gus walk on his own, they discussed some topics to try and pass the time.

"So, I learned from Eda's mom that I wasn't the first human to live here, someone else managed to get here before me! I was completely shocked! And then, Gwen said that his journal was donated to the library archives. That's why I'm heading to the library now, maybe his book has some notes on how to create a portal." Luz said with a smile to Gus.

"Uh huh, sounds nice. Need some help with that? Looking through old stuff is about the only think I can do right now that won't cause problems." Gus said, still down about the mess he caused with Willow.

This caused Luz to sigh before moving in front of Gus, standing firmly to make them stop on a bridge.

"Gus, it wasn't your fault Willow got hurt. You just tried to help, there's no shame in that." Luz said to him.

"But it wasn't even helpful. That's the problem with illusion magic, it's all flash and no substance." Gus said as he turned, leaning on the bride railing. "I've been thinking about this for a little while and maybe I should try other magics to see how I'd do with them."

"You mean switching tracks at school? But that would just make you start over from scratch at the bottom." Luz said to him, leaning on the rail next to him. "I get that illusions can be just for show but sometimes that can be a good thing."

"I get that but having just flash and pictures can't help all the times. I-" Gus said before a loud roar cut them off.

The duo turned to the roar and looked down below the bridge, seeing a group of demons hunters bringing in the Slitherbeast from the Knee with ropes. Before long, the beast broke free of it's bindings and ran straight towards someone! From the looks of it, it was Braxas in the middle of the road with a ballon!

"Yay." He said before noticing the beast."

"Braxas!" Luz shouted before 2 random male witches jumped down to him.

They looked the same age as Luz but they didn't go to Hexside judging by their uniforms and one appeared to be more demon looking while the other was humanoid.

"Gavin!" The demon boy said as the boy with dark skin, gray spiky hair, and blue eyes with a mole on the left of his chin stepped forward.

His clothes were short-sleeve gray-brown shirt with darker brown sleeve rims, a magenta scarf that is torn in some places, and magenta leggings going into yellow and white sneakers.

"Got it!" Gavin said as he spun around and cast an an abomination spell, making one appear in front of the Slitherbeastto make the it slide forward. "Hit it, Angmar!"

Angmar had goldenrod skin, brown claws on his hands, a pink nose, small fangs, and eyes containing small black pupils within blue sclera. His left eye is covered by a tuft of blonde hair, which is covered in turn by his cap. He has a tail with a barb-like tip that ends in the same brown as his claws. Additionally, there is a white bandage on his lower left cheek.

"Got it!" Angmar said as he drew a spell circle, making a vine net appear in front of the Slitherbeast to catch it before flinging it back in the air!

"Eeeeeeeh!" It squealed before hitting the ground!

"Bria, bring it home!" Angmar shouted with cupped hands!

Sudden, a girl with light gray skin, purple hair, green eyes, and freckles jumped over the beast with magic forming from her hands and feet before she slammed her fist to the ground! Using Construction/Stone magic, she created a dome around Slitherbeast to trap it and keep it from hurting anyone else. She let out a sigh as she stood up and flipped her hair back, showing her outfit was a gray short-sleeved tunic with dark gray trims, brown gloves, and tattered shorts along with white socks that had a mint green stripe around the shin and dark gray heeled boots, before giving her friends a thumbs up.

"Good work team!" The girl said with a sword on her right hip.

The witches and demons around cheered for them as Luz and Gus stood in amazement from above.

"Whoa, those are some skilled witches." Luz commented.

"Yeah..." Gus said with his eyes shining with amazement.

Sudden, Warden Wrath came up to Braxas to check on him.

"Are you alright, son?" he asked, pickingi up his son.

"Yes, daddy." Braxas said to him before looking to the three witches. "Thank you, mysterious heroes."

"Don't mention it. Stay safe!" Bria said as they tried to leave before Gus and Luz walked up to them.

"Excuse me but that was amazing! You were amazing!" Gus said before gesturing to all of them. "You guys took down the Slitherbeast like it was nothing with just plant, abomination, and construction magic!"

"Aw shucks, it wasn't that impressive." Bria said a happy face, shut eyes and waving her hand around.

"Yeah, that looked really mediocre out there." Gavin joked as he shook her by the shoulder.

"So I see from your uniforms, you go to Glandus High. My name's Gus, I got to Hexside." Gus said with his hand out.

"Luz, also Hexside." Luz said with a nod, putting her hands in her pockets.

"Nice to meet you, Gus and Luz I'm Bria." Bria said as she shock his hand.

"My name is Angmar." Angmar said with a wave.

"Name's Gavin." Gaven said with a wink and two finger guns them.

"Is what brings you guys to this part of town?" Luz asked them.

"Well, we-" Bria said until she was cut off.

"BRIA!" someone shouted, catching everyone's attention as someone came running to them.

Stopping and panting before, the person screaming at them was none other than Mattholomule from the Construction Track at Hexside. It had been a long time since the little rat got Luz in trouble during her second visit to Hexside and he had changed a bit since she saw him.

Like Gus, Mattholomule had a growth spurt and was almost as tall a Gus if not for a few inches. His casual clothes were a gray long sleeve shirt that extended to gloves with a hood, a beige tunic with a fur belt, white pants, and long brown rain boots.

"Sorry I'm late. Ran into some trouble!" He said while catching his breath before noticing Luz and Gus. "You two?! Back off, twerp and human! This a Glandus only operation."

"One, don't call Gus a "twerp." And two, you go to Hexside with us." Luz said to him.

"FORMER Glandus students still count!" Mattholomule said as he pointed at Luz, who glared back before grabbing his finger and bending it back. "AAAH!"

"Put that finger away before I break it." Luz said, still pissed at him for his tricks.

"Hey, hey, hey! It's alright, Luz. No need to break any fingers." Bria said with her hands up. "Matty wasn't going to cause any trouble, right?"

"Right, right! I'm sorry! Please let me go!" Mattholomule begged before Luz released his finger.

"Let that be a reminder, you're still on thin ice with me." Luz said to him with a glare.

"Right." Mattholomule said with a his, holding his finger before reaching into his shirt. "Anyways, Bria, I got the map! Only cause me about 35 noogies from older brother."

Pulling out a rolled up piece of paper, Mattholomule walked up to the Glandus trio and gave it to Bria.

"Awesome, Matty." Bria said as she opened the map.

Gus began to fell a little out of places as Luz noticed this and made a suggestion.

"Well, since you guys seem busy, we'll just get out of your hair." Luz said as she turned to leave with Gus following.

"Wait!" Bria said, making them stop as she turns the map to them. "Have either of you every heard of the legendary Galderstones?"

"Galderstones?" Luz and Gus asked.

"Legend says their powerful relics that have been sought out by demons and witches for centuries." Gavin said with a smile.

"But everyone that's gone after them has come back empty handed, haunted and forced away by the guardian of them." Angmar added. "Until we heard of it!"

"We heard about them from some coven scouts and wanted to try and find them ourselves. Would you two like to come along? We could use the manpower." Bria offered them as she rolled up the map.

"That's sounds cool but I'm busy right now, maybe another time." Luz said to them.

"Yeah, I was actually going to help he as well." Gus said before Luz turned to him.

"No, you didn't. You can go with them if you want." Luz said to him.

"But he can't." Mattholomule said, drawing everyone's attention. "This journey is gonna be dangerous and Gus is just an illusionist. He'll only slow us down."

Bria began to contemplate on this as Gus looked away with some shame before Luz put an arm on his shoulders.

"Really? If you think that, you don't know Gus. I know for a fact that he's tougher than he looks. Not to mention he's a prodigy that skipped a few grades." Luz said, making Gus blush from this.

Even though it was true from the kickboxing classes he took and his talent with Illusion magic, he still lacked magical prowess in other magics. Not to mention this was also her way of getting his mind off what happened with Willow but he just didn't feel like this would be a solution.

"Um, Luz. A word?" Gus asked he turned them around and huddled with Luz, whispering. "I get what your trying to do but please stop. I only know illusion spells. And I don't think my kickboxing lessons are going to do much against the guardian."

Luz hummed for a moment before snapping her fingers, reaching into her pocket and pulling out some glyphs notes for him. She never left home without some in case she lost her gloves like with Lilith at the conformatorium.

"Then take some of these. Use them and you need them and impress them a bit, especially that big mouth jerk." Luz said as she put them in his hand, pointing to each glyph. "For a quick run down, this is light, this is fire, this is plant, and this is ice. Got it?"

Smiling and nodding to Luz, Gus quickly put the glyph notes in his pocket before turning to the Glandus trio and Mattholomule.

"Alright, you can count me in! Where do we start?" Gus asked with her bravado.

Luz smiled at her friend before taking her leave, continuing in her way to the library in her search for the first human's journal.

-Bonesborough Library-

Once she arrived and greeted the man at the front desk, who gave her a slight warning to not cause trouble like last time, Luz headed over to the crystal balls that acted as computers and sat down in front of one. She pulled out a small notebook she started since Gwen told her about the first human and was going to take notes in anything useful she found.

"Alright, let's see how this works." Luz said as she tapped on it, activating the crystal ball. "Now to find the browser."

Dragging her finger across the surface, Luz found the demon equivalent of the internet and opens it before looking at the search bar.

'Let's try something simple. "Human."' Luz typed into the search and a pushed enter.

Suddenly, old news paper articles were shown to Luz as she read them in silence.

'Mystery vendors floods the market with dangerous human goods? Nope.' Luz thought as a picture of Eda holding two paddleballs in hand scares some demons was shown with the article before she moved it aside for the next one. 'Box of human literature washes up on shore? No, but that could explain how the Azura books got here.'

The next article was for a movie premiere called the "Planet of the Humans" flopping/failing at the box office.

"Too implausible." Critics charge.

This actually got a chuckle from Luz as they couldn't know anything about humans to make a successful movie about her kind. Shaking her head a bit, Luz scrolled to the last article and found this one to be much older than the last three.

'Human resident, Philip Wittebane, donates personal diary to local library. This is it!' Luz thought with a smile, this what what she was searching for!

Now she just had to find it and she knew just the person to help her, if she was working today that is. Luz quickly wrote down some of the information before getting up and heading to the Kid's Section of the library. Peaking inside, Luz saw the witch she was looking for was on her knee with her hand out to a younger kid that had bleach blond hair in two puff tails, peach skin, and yellow gold eyes.

"Come on, give me my hair braid back." Amity said with a smile, her hair down and sporting more brown color than usual.

"No!" The little girl said, pulling her hands away from Amity.

The young blight let out a sigh but kept her smile.

"Okay, how about this? If you give me my hairband back, I'll let you choose what we read at tomorrow's story time." Amity said as the girl turned to her.

"Really?" She asked with glee.

"I promise." Amity said with a nod, getting the younger girl to smile.

"Yes! Finally I will learn to summon a demon lord!" She said as she returned Amity's hairband back and running off.

"Hehehehehe." Amity chuckled before standing up and fixing her hair into its usual style.

'God, she is beautiful. Hair up or hair down.' Luz thought with a small blush.

"Hey Luz." Two voice called out, making Luz jolt before turn around with her fist pulled.

She stopped mid punch as she saw it was just the elder Blight twins standing behind her, with Edric giving Emira a piggyback ride for some reason.

"Oh, it's just you two." Luz said, standing straight and relaxing. "What brings you here? Picking up Amity from work?"

"No, I think her gf has that covered." Emira said before stepping off her brother, who grunted a bit.

"We're actually here for books on skincare. I've got a hot date tonight." Edric said with a smug grin.

"Yeah, he needs all the help he can find since he accidentally texted a poem for his date to their mother." Emira said before laughing a bit. "Ahahahaha."

Edric lost his smugness and looked to Emira with nervousness.

"Please stop talking about that." Edric said with worry.

Luz laughed a bit as well before Amity walked up behind her.

"Are they bothering you, Luz?" Amity asked with a hand on her hip and her library ID around her neck.

"No, they weren't. They just showed up when I came to see you." Luz said with a smile, making Amity smile as well.

The two shared a quick kiss as Emira and Edric watched in happiness and slight envy for their little sister. Luz had changed Amity so much in the short time she's been here, making her a better and happier person than she ever was before.

"I can see we're not needed here anymore. Come on, Eda. Let's go find that book." Emira said as she grabbed his arm and pulled him away.

"Have fun, you two." Edric said with a thumbs up.

Once the twins were gone, Amity turned to her girlfriend with a question.

"So Luz, what exactly brings you by?" Amity asked.

"Nothing much, I just need your help to find a specific book." Luz said as she gave Amity her journey, showing her notes and pictures. "I've been doing some research and learned that the first human to live here before me 300 years ago, Philip Wittebane, donated a journal to the library. If I can find it-"

"You could learn if he was able to create a way to travel between realms, right?" Amity finished for her.

"Right on the money." Luz said with a nod before looking worried. "Camp back home is long since over and my mom must be worried sick about me, thinking I'm missing or worse. I need to find a way back so I can put those worries to rest. Can you help me?"

Amity thought for a moment before she closed Luz's journal and gave it back.

"One place comes to mind. If that journal is as old as you say it is, there's on one place it could be." Amity said before leading Luz away from the kid's corner. "The Forbidden Stacks."

After a short walk, the two girls stood before a giant pair of doors with a three stone creatures perched on top with giant eyes for heads and batwings. A sign for the section stood in front of shape teeth with 4 lit torches on the sides of the door.

"Damn, that's a huge doorway." Luz said, looking at it from top to bottom before a strange mouse with a bare skull for a head crawled out from under it. "Aaah!"

"Don't worry, it's just an echo mouse. They're harmless." Amity said, putting a hand on Luz's shoulder before looking back to the door. "Only Malphas, the master librarian, is allowed to enter. If he finds out we did this, I could lose my job."

Hearing this, Luz sighed in regret as she shook her head. She couldn't let Amity risk her job just to help her, that's not something you do to the one you love.

"No te preocupes. Todo va a salir bien." Luz said, making Amity confused.

"What?" Amity asked.

"It means "don't worry. Everything will be fine." I can't ask you to do this if you'll lose your job. I'll try and find another way then." Luz said, turning to leave until Amity stopped her.

"Wait, Luz. I want to help you. Even if it's risky, I can tell how important this is to you." Amity said as she showed Luz her staff card around her neck. "I might not be Malphas's but my staff card should be enough to get us in. Though, when we do get inside, we have to be complete silent or else Malphas will find us. Can you do that?"

Amity put her hands together to help make her point, making Luz feel a bit worse before she grabbed her hands.

"I promise, I'll be as quiet as I can be. You won't be jobless as long as I have something to say about it." Luz said, gazing into her eyes with a smile.

This caused Amity to blush brightly, returning the smile as she moved to put their foreheads together.

"Thank you." Amity said before she pulled away, turning to a sort of magic scanner on the wall. "Now let's get in there."

Amity ran her card over the scanner, causing it and the doors to glow before they slowly opened and cause the ground to shake a bit. A strange fog rolled out as well before they shared a look of determination and walked inside, allowing the doors to shut behind them. Once the duo was inside, they were greeted by a dark and mysterious looking catacomb structure filled with large book shelves. Each one filled with countless webs and dust from years of collection as gold plaques were displayed for every hundred years.

"Okay, so where do we start?" Luz asked quietly.

"The section we're looking for should be right around here." Amity said, leading Luz to a larger section.

Luz gasped over the sight of it, seeing it was like a mix of a haunted house and a library. Books flying like birds, large spectral hands organizing them, and candlesticks floating to give them light as well. In the center, a giant hooded statue with large ears and a stone gem in its chest.

"Wow, this place is nuts. Where do we start?" Luz asked before Amity gasped.

"Get down." She said, pulling Luz to the floor.

From across the room, the duo saw a cloaked figure hovering in on a giant book. A single green eye gazed towards them before they moved back, avoiding its sight before it turned to leave the area.

"Amity, just what the hell is that?" Luz asked her as they sat up.

"That was Malphas, the only one allowed in her and the one who gave me my study room here in the library. If he catches us, he's gonna feed us to the book worms." Amity said in worry, holding her arms.

"Book worms? Like giant, worm like creatures with sharp teeth that eat books and possibly people?" Luz guessed, making a sharp jaw with her hands.

"Old books but yes." Amity said with a nod. "Do you have them in the human realm?"

"No, book worms is just a term/insult for smart people. For some, it call also be a cute nickname like for you." Luz said, smiling a bit to her girlfriend. "My sweet little book worm."

This made the worry fade away as Amity giggled at the joke, smiling with a blush towards Luz.

"Ahahaha, you dork. Your world really sounds odd." Amity said.

"I know but maybe it won't be, I'd kind of want to take you there someday." Luz said, scratching her head as Amity looked surprised and thinking of the idea. "But with Malphas on the prowl and your job already at risk enough, maybe we should turn back. I don't want to push you."

"We are not leaving without the diary!" Amity said quickly, grabbing Luz and dragging her off!

'I am SO going to see the human world with my girlfriend!' Amity thought, more determined than ever to find the journal.

Not only was she motivated by the thoughts of exploring the human realm with Luz, she was also motivated to meet Luz's mother and hoping to see how much of a sweet and caring woman she is. At least with how Luz talks about her and knowing that ALL mothers are nothing like her own mother, Odalia.

-Short Timeskip-

The two headed further into the forbidden stacks, seeing hundred of echo mice crawling around the shelves.

'Wow, there are a lot of them.' Luz thought.

"The donation section should be right around here." Amity said s they turned a corner. "The books here should be from around the same time you said the journal was donated. The Deadwardian Era."

"The what?" Luz asked before seeing a plaque on a shelf. "Oh, that's what's you call the 1600s. Got it."

"Okay, any idea what it would look like?" Amity asked.

"Old, dusty." Luz said.

Amity and Luz looked around, the former running her finger on a book before it crumbled to dust and she pulled back.

"That describes about everything in this area." Amity commented.

"Then something that looks usable, maybe with his name or initials on it." Luz said, looking at a book before moving past it. "Maybe the words Philip or Wittebane, or maybe his initials."

Amity and Luz looked around a bit, before finding a book with the letters 'P.W.' written in cursive.

"This is it. We found it." Luz said, grabbing the book from the shelf.

She blew a bit of dust off it before she slowly opened it.

Inside was... another echo mouse... and it had eaten all the pages in the book! Luz gasped loudly at the sight of the mouse, seeing all the pages of the journal were ruined! Destroyed because of one magical rodent's appetite! Her breathing slowly began deep and her temper rising.

"You...You..." Luz said as Amity moved to try and calm her down.

"Luz, just calm down. It's not as bad as you think." Amity said softly.

"You little...." Luz said, growing louder.

"Luz, no!" Amity said softly, trying to cover her mouth.

It was too late.

"FUCKING RAT!" Luz screamed as loudly as she could!

Her rage echoed through the whole forbidden area, making more mice run away in fear as Amity covered her ears from the loudness.

"Huh! Huh! Huh!" Luz breathed heavily from her shout before she gasped in shock, fully realizing what she did. "Oh shit."

"Amity?" A deep voice asked, making the two girl turn around and see a faint bird demon with gray feathers and large black wings.

This was Malphas.

"Aaah!" They both screamed.

-Another Short Timeskip-

After being caught by Malphas and escorted out of the library, the head librarian was now giving them both a stern lecture.....in a laidback, surfer/slacker tone of voice.

I am like, so disappointed in you, Amity." Malphas said, holding his head.

'This guy is....a lot less scary then i thought.' Luz thought as she remained silent.

"It's like, I can't even put it into exact words right now. And I'm sorry to say this, but I kind have to like, fire you for this." Malphas said, drawing a spell circle to take Amity's employee badge from her.

Still in his giant book, Malphas turned around and floated back into the library as Luz and Amity remained outside by themselves.

"Amity...I.....I'm so-" Luz was cut off by Amity.

"Why? Why didn't you listen to me when I said to be quiet?" Amity asked, slowly crying from how upset she is.

"I-" Luz was cut off again.

"I just lost everything... because of you." Amity said, beginning to shake.

"Amity, I didn't-" Luz was cut off once again.

"Why did I even help you? Just so you'll go leave me and go back to the human realm?!" Amity said, screaming.

"Amity-" Luz was cut off for the fourth time.

"Sometimes...Sometimes...Sometimes I wish I never met you, you stupid, reckless human!" Amity shouted at Luz before gasping, covering her mouth in shock from what she just said!

'W-What did I just say?!' Amity thought, slowly turning her eyes towards Luz.

Luz couldn't say anything else, looking at her girlfriend with wide eyes and flowing tears at how hurtful her words were. Cutting deeper than any blade, brushing more than any punch or kick. If anything, it felt like she was literally dying inside.

"I..." Luz tried to say but stopped, shutting her mouth as she curled her hand into fists. "Okay...Okay."

The human turned to leave as Amity reached out for her!

"Luz, wait! I-I didn't-" she called out before Luz held up her left hand, pushing on the wrist as a glyph shined.

This glyph? It was the invisibility glyph she created some time ago.

Luz disappeared, leaving Amity alone. Amity looked down before walking away from the library.

"You finally had everything you ever wanted... and you fucked it up." Amity said to herself, angry now at herself more for her foolish words. "Way to go, you dumbass."

After Amity left, Luz let out a breath, revealing herself and that she had never left.

"I said that Amity won't jobless as long as I have something to say about it ." Luz said, kicking the door to the library open. "I fucking meant it."

She stomped back into the library, where the librarian at the front desk looked at Luz in shock and approached her.

"Excuse me! You are-" he was cut off as Luz grabbed his shirt and pulled him down to her height!

"QUIET." Luz whisper shouted at him, glaring at him with such fire in her eyes that chills went up his spine. "WHERE. IS. MALPHAS?"

He pointed to the forbidden stacks door.

"I-I-In there!" He quickly said.

Luz threw him away before stomping towards the door, activating her power glyph to make each stomp feel like an earthquake. She threw a kick and opened the doors, echoing through the forbidden part of the library!

"MALPHAS!" Luz shouted!

Elsewhere, Gus was finding his own problems.

After Luz had given him some glyphs and encouraged him to go on an adventure with Bria, Gavin, Angmar, and Mattholomule, things had taken a very big downward spiral. The ruins they were heading towards and found? They were in actuality, an illusionist graveyard, and the Galderstones they were searching for belong to them. So technically and factually, they were grave robbing!

Naturally, Gus had a problem with this and had to stop it. Especially since the "monster" of the ruins turned out to be an old illusionist that was protecting the stones.

"I'm NOT gonna let you take those stones." Gus said, standing before the Glandus trio.

"Really? And just HOW are you going to stop us, Gus?" Bria asked with a teasing smirk.

"Yeah, how ARE you going to stop them, Gus?" Mattholomule asked, the second one against grave robbing.

"I'll show you how." Gus said, moving into his sway/step back stance and bouncing in place.

"Really? A small little dance?" Bria asked, giggling a bit. "Expect nothing less from an Illusionist."

"Trust me, this is no dance." Gus said with a glare before rushing towards them.

"Hehehe, I got this." Angmar said, giving Gaven his galderstone. "Hold this for me."

Angmar thought it would be easy, but he wasn't prepared for Gus. He held up his finger for a spell circle but Gus suddenly dodged to his right and threw a punch, hitting Angmar's jaw perfectly as he was knocked away!

'What the?!' He thought, not expecting such a punch!

That didn't stop as Gus throw a straight kick right into his chest, knocking him away as he rolled into a grave status!

"Ugh!" He grunted, hitting his head before passing out!

"Ready to give up?" Gus asked, turning back to Bria and Gaven.

Everyone was left in shock of Gus and his combat process.

'Where the heck did Gus learn this?!' Mattholomule thought.

'What in the name of the Titan!?' Bria and Gaven thought in shock.

"Well?" Gus asked, bouncing in place. "Who's next?"

"Gaven, get him!" Bria said.

Shaking his head, Gaven nodded to her as he dropped the galderstones.

"Right!" He said, rushing at Gus with abomination fists.

He threw a punch and Gus dodged it before retaliating with a strong kick to the chest.

"Ugh!" Gaven groaned before Gus rushed him with a punch to the face, kick to the knee, and a flying knee to the chest!

Gaven was sent flying back as he slid on the ground, groaning as he curled up in pain.

Bria looked in horror as her "Friends" we taken out. Both of them were some of the strongest in Glandus's Plant and Abomination track, yet they were taken out so easily by an illusionist with some, crazy fighting moves! But if she wanted to get the Galderstones for herself, she had to fight!

Gus made a "bring it" motion with his hand.

"As Luz would say, "come on, bitch. Show me what you go."" Gus said.

'That sounded so cool, YES!' Gus thought.

'That sounded so cool!' Mattholomule and the ruins guardian thought.

Bria growled in frustration.

"I'll wipe the floor with you!" Bria screamed.

She held the stone she stole tightly, creating multiple stone fists from the ground and making them float around her.

"Good luck with that!" Gus said, drawing a spell circle and creating 24 illusion clones of himself.

"Which one's the real one?" Gus and his Illusions said.

Bria screamed as she waved her hand, sending her stone fists are Gus as his illusion army rushed at her! They dodged the stones as best as they could, some of them getting hit and poofing into dust clouds but the real Gus was left unharmed for now.

"I will weed you out and crush you!" Bria said.

Gus didn't reply to her as his army kept going, dividing to get in both sides of her before charging straight at the middle!

"It's over!" Bria shouted, sending the stone fists to both sides and destroying the illusions.

But there was no Gus, no REAL Gus.

"What the- where are you!?" Bria shouted.

"Here." Gus said, suddenly striking Bria in the face!

She stumbled back into a grave statue and dropped her galderstone as Gus became visible, glaring at her. Bria groaned before grabbing her sword and slashed through Gus's neck before he poofed into smoke!

'Another?!' Bria thought before she was uppercut in the chin, then hit with a two crosses from left and right!

Her legs felt weak and the world was spinning as Bria to stay standing, until Gus appeared right in front of her with his right fist reeled back.

"Checkmate." He said before throwing a his final punch, slamming her across the across the jaw!

'No...way.' Bria thought as she collapsed forward, her world going dark before she face planted on the ground!

Seeing her on the ground, Gus picked up the galderstone.

"Alright, they've been taken care of." He said, cleaning some dirt off it.

"I'll say! That was incredible!" The ruins protector said, rushing over to Gus and hugging him. "My boy, those illusions were incredible and those skills! I've never seen anything like that in all my years!"

"Well, I guess I just needed something to motivate me." Gus said, looking over some of the graves.

The illusionists gave their lives to keep these stones safe from people like Bria, he couldn't just let them get away with stealing them.

"I'll say." Mattholomule said, walking up to Bria and nudging her a bit. "You really knocked her out cold, I'm jealous."

"I have a good teacher." Gus said before looking to the ruins protector. "So, now that the graveyard has been found, what will you do now?"

"Hmm, I suppose the only way to protect the stones would be to hide the graveyard completely." The old man said, looking over the crumbling area. "Without proper defenses, who knows when these hoodlums will come back to try again."

"But this is a historical place." Gus said, looking over the ruins. "I want to learn more about these illusionists, I want to know how they became so great when their magic was so...."

"All bark and no bite? My boy it's simple, relying on just power alone makes you dull, clouds your mind. Only when you have to be creative and adaptive can you truly flourish." The ruins protector said, smiling at Gus. "Perhaps I'll unveil the graveyard one day, when the world can accept us."

Gus was saddened by this as Mattholomule looked away, feeling guilty since this all stared because he brought Bria the map.

"But, you'll need proper defenses, right? Maybe fox up the ruins too." Mattholomule said, gaining both illusionist's attention. "Maybe we could come back once a week to help with that? And maybe visit you too since you could use some company?"

"Y-y-you'd do that?" Gus said in great surprise.

"Yeah, I'm not like them. I'm willing to make things and own up to my mistakes since...you know." Mattholomule said, concerning the incident with the Human Appreciation Society and getting Luz in trouble. "And I'll start by helping put the stones back and restraining these three."

With a flick of his wrist, Mattholomule made large stone hands grab Bria, Gaven, and Angmar off the ground and hold them tightly.

'Maybe he really has changed.' Gus thought, smiling a bit as Mattholomule.

As Gus and Mattholomule began fixing up the ruins and putting the stones back, Luz was making her what towards Blight Manor with her hands in her pockets along with some bruises/scuff marks along her arms and face.

'Well, time to see if I need to change my relationship status to single.' Luz thought.

Pushing the gates open and walking to the front door, Luz knocked on the door as hard as she could to get an answer. Whether it be from Amity, an abomination servant, or even one of the parents; she was going to do this. Even if it's making her heart race so fast while not showing it.

She pulled out her left hand and held Amity's library staff card, slightly burn and torn but still usable as the door was opened.

"Okay, look, I- OOFF!" Luz let out as something collided with her, hugging EXTREMELY tight. "Getting... dark."

"I'm so sorry for what I said! I didn't mean any of it! I was just so angry and sad and I didn't mean to take it out on you! And-And-!" Amity said, being the one that's hugging Luz so tightly as the human slowly hugged her girlfriend back.

'Where the hell did she get this strength?!' Luz thought.

"It's...okay. I...forgive you....but can you please let me go? I'm beginning to black out." Luz said.

Amity did and Luz began to breath before she looked up, noticing some changes in Amity's hair.

No longer was it two shades of green with some brown roots and held in a high ponytail. Now, it was a beautiful shade of mauve with a brown stripe in both sides near her face as her hair flowed down to above her shoulders.

"Your hair....it's beautiful." Luz said, making Amity blush and smile a bit.

"Thanks. My roots were showing and I thought it was time for a change." Amity said, playing with her hair a bit. "Mom was always the one who liked it green, not me."

"Yeah, I can see that." Luz said before returning to why she was her. "So... I... got you your job back."

"You did? But how?" Amity asked as she took her damaged staff card.

"After you left, I stomped in and went straight to Malphas. I explained everything and took the blame while also doing a few chores around the library." Luz said as Amity looked to her.

"Chores?" Amity asked, bit concern. "What kind of chores?"

"Nothing too bad. Just organize some man-eating books, get some books out of storage, feed old books to the book worms, and deal with something called a "Paper Dragon."" Luz said as she rolled her shoulder. "That thing was a lot tougher than I expected but I managed just fine. I've dealt with a lot of crazy, traumatizing things since I've to here. Also, stop spying on us, Ed and Em."

Turning around, Amity saw her siblings watching from a corner before they ducked back.

'Of course they're easedropping.' Amity thought with a sigh before she shut the door to give them some privacy.

"Luz... thanks... you didn't have to do that, not after what I said." Amity said, looking at the ground.

"I know but it's fine. We all say things we don't mean when we're angry. I know that more than anybody." Luz said before looking guilty. "It was my fault you lost you job anyway, I still can't keep my temper at times where I need to. Rat or not, I shouldn't have screamed over another dead end."

"But Luz, it wasn't a dead end." Amity said, making Luz look confused. "I should've explained this earlier but those echo mice are actually good for the library. Any literature they eat is preserved in their memories and can be played like a slideshow if you know how to do it."

"Really?!" Luz asked, shocked and so happy at this reveal!

"Really." Amity said, nodding to Luz.

Suddenly, Luz reached into her right pocket and pulled out an echo mouse. The very same echo mouse that ate Philip's journal earlier today.

"You're getting off lucky." Luz said to the mouse.

"Wait, you found it?" Amity asked, a little surprised.

"Yeah...I found him while working and I was gonna feed him to Hooty as revenge for the journal but not anymore!" Luz quickly said, waving her empty hand.

"Mmmhmm." Amity hummed, doubting it just a tiny bit.

"Now...how do use this thing?" Luz asked, gesturing to the echo mouse.

"Hehehehe, allow me." Amity said, holding her hand out to take the mouse. "Certain things like petting it or scratching it will help show you what it's eaten. Like this."

Amity gently rubbed the echo mouse on the head, making it chitter in enjoyment before opening its skull eyes and producing a slideshow with movie pictures.

'My name is Philip Wittebane, and I've found myself in a strange world. My journey here to the Demon Realm is something I never could've foreseen but perhaps it is something I could see as an opportunity and explore. It is horrific yet fascinating. Very few minds could have dreamt what I am experiencing now. If only those at home could see what I have see, and perhaps they shall someday. For the more I learn about this fantastic place, the more I am certain I can harness its strange powers to return home. Today, on which I believe is May 21st, I begin recording my journey of exploration, learning, and adventure in hopes of creating a portal back to the Human Realm.' The projection played as an image of the portal door appeared at the end before the projection ended.

"Wow." Luz said in awe.

Just that one show gave her new found hope and a while need, confirmed lead in making a portal!

"There are more ways to get it to do that, but I can show you on a later date, if you want." Amity said, giving Luz back the echo mouse.

"Oh yeah, you are definitely showing me that on a later date." Luz said, gently taking the echo mouse from Amity and gazing at it. "Guess you and me are gonna become good friends, huh, Jerry?"

"Really? Jerry?" Amity asked.

It sounded so funny but ridiculous for an echo mouse.

"What? He looks like a Jerry to me. Besides, I've got something on my mind right now, so I can't think about a better name right now." Luz said, turning to Amity.

"Like what?" Amity asked.

"You." Luz said, smiling and moving closer to kiss Amity on the lips.

Amity melted into the kiss. Wrapping her arms around Luz's neck as Luz wrapped her arms around her waist, even though the echo mouse was still in her hand.

Watching from above, Emira and Edric saw the romantic scene and gave small nod to the couple.

"Looks like Mittens had nothing to worry about.." Emira said.

"Yeah, lucky her." Edric said with a nod.
