"Did you just say honeymoon?" I asked through my teeth while glaring at the woman. Did this woman not think with her brain? Her behavior toward this situation made me narrow my eyes at her in suspicion.
"Ah, no need to be jumpy," she said and walked up to me then wrapped her arm around my shoulder. "You two just met and won't it be nice to get to know each other?"
I frowned and glared at Ethan who quickly looked away. Why wasn't he saying anything to stop his crazy mother? He hated me and he knows I hate him too, so why wasn't he stopping her plans?
"Trust me, I know more than I ever wanted to," I said and moved out of the woman's arm. "I'm not interested in this arrangement. We are married and that should be the end of the deal, right?"
I ignored the cautionary stare dad was throwing at me and focused on the wall. I wanted to walk out and go to the hospital where mom was waiting. I wanted to be with her at this moment instead of being around people who were not valuable to me.
"Dear, you're getting it all wrong," the woman said.
"What again, mother?" Ethan asked in an exasperated tone.
Mrs. Hawkes grinned, which was almost sinister. She placed her hands on her hips and cleared her throat. This woman seemed like the type who loved to create drama and dwell in the drama around her.
"First, you two will head over to my hotel at the beach and spend some time together. Then, after three days, you'll come back and live with him, Angela."
"What?!" Ethan and I yelled at the same time.
"That is a great arrangement, Mrs. Hawkes," dad said with a chuckle.
"No… I don't want to," I said and Ethan nodded.
"Well, your father signed a contract after agreeing to my request. You can't go against the contract, my dear. This marriage has already happened and you can't break your promise."
I glanced at dad who gave me a look that reminded me of what was going to happen to mom. With a heavy heart, I nodded my head in agreement and made brief eye contact with Ethan who looked stunned at my answer. If I wasn't put in a tight spot, I would have not been standing before Ethan and his crazy mother.
"I will do it. I'll go on the honeymoon and live with…with him." I could not believe what had come out of my mouth but because I was not in the best position to decide what was best for me. At this moment, I was nothing but a guinea pig or a pet who had to obey its owner.
"Angela…"
"No, Mr. Hawkes. This is my decision, at least try to respect it," I said coldly, interjecting Ethan. He had no right to tell me what to say. He needed to pretend like I don't exist, just as he did all those years ago.
"That's marvelous! The car is already ready outside. Chop, chop, you two," Mrs. Hawkes said with a clap of her hands.
I watched everyone leave the room, except for Ethan who was staring at his feet. I rolled my eyes and walked out of the room. As I walked through the hallway, I stopped when I saw Macy leaning against the wall. She pushed herself off the wall and approached me with a smile. Something was off about her and I knew whatever she was about to say was bullshit.
"Congratulations, sister," she said and scoffed. "You know, if I knew you were getting married to one of New York's young billionaires, I could have told dad that I was interested in saving my dear mother."
I wanted to slap her at that moment. Now that she knew how big of a fish he was, she was interested in him for her selfish reasons and not for our sick mother. It sickened me how she behaved. It bothered me that she was my sister.
"I thought he'd be some ugly man like my sugar daddy or even some sick son of a billionaire mother who's forcing her son to get married due to pity or something," Macy said and suddenly, a look of disgust masked her face. "You have always been so lucky even in your pathetic state… but since this marriage is a sham, nothing is going to stop me from trying to woo your husband with my charms. Besides, wasn't he the one who took your virginity and shamed you?"
"Macy?!" I cried out in anger and slapped her across the cheek.
I almost felt guilty for hitting her but the guilt died down when she started to laugh. She touched her flushed cheek and sighed. She eyed my body with a snarl on her face before shaking her head as if she pitied me.
"Lord knows how much you need to vent your anger out. You needed to hit something and I'm glad. Anyway, good luck with your marriage."
I watched her catwalk, most likely mocking me. I bowed my head and rubbed my temples before continuing my walk through the building. Once I came outside, I met dad and Macy who was standing beside an expensive-looking black car with tinted windows.
"Congratulations, Angela," dad said and tried to touch me but I moved out of the way.
"Pay for mom's medical treatment or I will walk out of this marriage," I said threateningly and opened the door of the car.
With one last glance at them, I boarded the car and shut the door. The cold interior and sweet scent of the car gave me some type of relief as I waited for my supposed husband. And a few minutes later, the other door opened and Ethan got in. I avoided him when he looked in my direction.
"Angela?"
"Kindly ignore me throughout this honeymoon, Mr. Hawkes," I said and faced the window, eyeing my sister and father who stared back at me as if they could see me.
"When we get to the hotel, we'll talk."
I snorted.

"I told you that we needed to talk!"
I ignored Ethan's loud voice and went straight to the one bedroom in the suite. I sat on the bed and started taking off my shoes. He marched into the room and stopped in front of me.
"Angela, please listen to me."
"I don't want to." I got up and he held my arms, stopping me. I glared at his hands before glaring at his face. "Let go."
"No," he whispered and pulled me closer to his body.
I hated how my body reacted so differently at our proximity when I was supposed to be feeling anger and disgust. I hated how my heart was beating as it used to in our past. I hated how he stared at me like I was precious to him when all was a lie. He was trying to bewitch me again and I wasn't going to allow it.
In anger, I raised my foot and kneeled him in the groin, causing him to fall to the floor. I glared at him and smirked in satisfaction.
"Touch me again and I'll make sure you never get any woman pregnant," I said and he chuckled through the pain.
"We won't know that until we try, baby," he said and winked.
I growled and stomped away.
