Chapter 10

The next day, Beth woke up feeling uneasy.

She couldn't remember what she had done to Damian after drinking that bottle of champagne,

''Hey, baby''

Allen was with her on the bed, just like always, and she felt better after seeing the little boy immediately.

''Mommy! How are you feeling?''

''Good, baby. Did you sleep well?''

''Yes! I was waiting for mommy to say good morning before going to school.''

"Let's get dressed, baby. I will take you to school before I go to work.''

the little boy hugged his mommy tightly, and she returned him a kiss on his cheek.

''Let's change then, baby.''

they both got dressed, the little boy brushed his mothers' hair after his mother helped him with his clothes.

The drive reached the front yard of the school.

''Thank you, mama, for bringing us here.''

the little girl hugged Beth.

''My pleasure, princess.''

she kissed her son and waved them goodbye.

''Let's go to the company then, sweetie.''

Rafael covered the woman with her beautiful coat, and they drove to work.

When they reached their destination, everyone could see and understand the employee's fear of her.

In any way, they also admired her too much.

Everyone went up to them and greeted both.

''Miss Kappa, this is your today schedule.''

her assistant came up to her,

''Let's go, then. All of you can go back to your work.''

All of them nodded.

Her air of authority amazed everyone every time they saw her.

''Rafael, tell me what I'm supposed to attend to today.''

''Yes, Miss. Well, you have to check everything, including paperwork, as always. Adding to that, at 2:00, you have to meet your father for business. He will come with the proposals. Following that, at 3:00, you have a meeting with the company we started cooperating with some time ago. At 5:30, you likewise have to check the hotel we are currently building and working on and its progress. I don't trust anyone but you checking it."

''Then?''

''Next, we have to attend a meeting with our 'underground' cooperators.
They want you to officially take over the leadership, but the grand ceremony is in two days.
Additionally, we will have a discussion with our crew about getting rid of the people left on that list.''

''No. I will do that myself, as always, Rafael.''

''You can't keep killing people with your own hands, Beth.
Your mental health is already in a bad state, please don't-''

"They deserve to die, Rafael.''

she looked at him with fiery eyes,

''It's one of the reasons I am willingly keeping calm every day.''

''You also have to find out who was after you, Beth''

''After we come from what we have to do, I want all information on these people.''

''Okay,''

Rafael answered.

she gave him a look, knowing what he would say next,

''At 6:55, we are expecting the Yang industry to send people for the deal we will have.
Plus, for the acting cast you're on, will be a discussion there.''

''Do I have to attend to that?''

Beth rolled her eyes at him.

''You know the answer. You only attend to what must be. I wouldn't bother you with the little things.''

Their day went accurately as scheduled.

The time the Yang's representatives came.

''Miss Kappa, your guests have come.''

''Let them in,''

she answered to her assistant,
without taking a glance at anything.

Except for the paperwork she was working on.

Her composure was firm and distant.

The assistant let in a man and a woman, plus their assistants.

''Miss Beth.''

Jarrods concerned and scared voice sounded.

Beth didn't look up at them.

She already had guessed they would come.

''Please, take your seats.''

The man and the woman sat across her office and their assistants on the nearby couch.

Beth was still immersed in her work but knew what was going on.

''Here, enjoy.''

her assistant offered them coffee and treats.

''Thank you.''

Damian's voice sounded.

He looked straight at Beth while talking.

She wasn't bothered at all, or she acted like that well enough, which made him angry.

''We have a contract to sign. I wish our cooperation will go well, and there won't be any mishaps.''

She glanced up, her gaze cold, and her posture always stayed business-like.

She sat firm, her aura matched that of a fallen angel.

''Miss Bai, Mister Yang. I am willing to listen to your terms. But my rules won't change.''

The woman's face was shocked to see Beth.

For a second, she forgot how she was supposed to act around Damian, not to make him despise her true self.

''That, we'll have harmony, Miss Kappa.''

Damian exclaimed.

The woman next to Damian was raging.

She snapped at her.

''BETH!"

A woman's voice sounded then,

''HOW CAN YOU BE THE BOSS HERE? YOU OBVIOUSLY ARE A SCUM.''

Layla shouted furiously.

''WHO DID YOU SLEEP WITH? SOME OLD MAN PROBABLY. HE'S STUPID ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU THE BOSS HERE.''

after she laughed her heart out of fury, she realized she shouldn't have.

Damian gave her a death glare.

Which made her knees tremble from fear.

She just sat down without daring to talk again.

Beth's eyes glistered with her words, she smiled gently,

''I might have, or might not. But in any way, shape, or form, is it any of your business, Miss Bai. I expect respect from your group Mister Yang. If you can't even provide me with such small action, then we have nothing more to discuss.''

she signaled to the door.

The assistant was scared to death, her whole body sweating.

She didn't dare offend Damian Yang, but she knew better if she didn't listen to her Lady Boss.

The door opened at that time.

''Oh baby, you are still this hard to communicate with.''

Rafael came up behind her chair and greeted them with a nod carelessly.

''That is why I have you here, Rafael Johnson. But still, I am the one doing all the talking here. It seems you forgot what you are supposed to do.''

Beth responded and moved her chair toward Rafael and raised her eyebrows at him.

Layla was surprised by Beth's sudden change and sexy aura.

Beth didn't give her any attention but Damian was intrigued by Layla's words and didn't lift his glance from Beth.

Rafael bent down to her heigh,

''I am sorry, Miss Kappa. It won't happen again.''

his hands were on the handles of Beth's chair, and he gave her a cunning look.

''Hey, hey. Look, Damian, they are so in love, they don't even acknowledge us anymore, It is so sweet, isn't it.''

Layla asked for everyone to hear with a sweet voice.

No one gave her any attention once more, Beth grabbed Rafael's tie and brought him closer to her. With a loving and sly look,

''Did you find what I asked you to Johnson?''

''I did. And you're going to love the answers.''

she came closer to his ear and whispered, so they couldn't hear,

''I want them all added to the list.''

Rafael nodded and stood up.

''Mister Yang, Miss Bai, let's continue.''

Layla clung to Damian's arm.

She tried too hard to make Beth furious and resentful.

She didn't quit until she accomplished her mission.

But Beth didn't show any flaws, she was too good at acting.

However, the past few hours were torture for her.

Her mental state was a mess.

Damian just watched, while discussing business with Beth.

Her gaze never left his.

She did what she had to make him know she didn't mind at all.

The meeting was almost over,

''Well, this was a great solution to deal with.''

Rafael said genially, happily.

''Of course, you fancy it. You money whore.''

he shrugged and kissed her cheek.

They signed and everything was over.

Only a few moments and Beth's tortures would be over.

''Miss Bai, Mister Yang, congratulations on your engagement.''

Beth acted sincerely.

Everyone in the room went silent, they knew the look on her face.

The destruction look.

The outsiders couldn't know. Rafael went firm and all serious.

He didn't expect Beth to be this strong and careless.

He was afraid for her mental state again.

''Aw, thank you, sister!''

Layla answered sweetly and Beth smirked at her.

Damian also went silent.

He was once more amused at her calmness and acting,

''Miss Kappa, Miss Kappa!''

Your admirer sent another gift today, the assistant yelled from outside,

''Come in.''

''Look, Miss Kappa.''

Beth signaled to her and she brought the letter and the big box to her.

--Dear Beth, It had been almost sixteen years since we last saw each other.
Soon, I will come and find you.
The box has a dress for you to wear.
Only one in this world, just like your ocean eyes.

Beth's eyes darkened with that.

It was the only emotion she showed tonight.

Everyone was taken aback by her expression.

''You can go back.''

the assistant left the room happily.

''Well, this was it for today's meeting. Have a nice night.''

Beth stood up and greeted them.

''Darling, let's go back. Look at Beth, she already has a kid. I also want one!''

she wiggled on Damian's arms and said slyly.

Beth couldn't help herself stay calm anymore.

She snapped, laughed hysterically at Layla's exclamation, on her way to leave the room.

''Let's go, Raf. Allen's still waiting for his father to come back.''

she didn't try to hold back anymore.

Her laughter wicked, made everyone in the room fear her.

''You sneaky little woman.''

Rafael patted her back and covered her with the coat.

The moment was sweet, Beth seemed to relax in Rafael's arms.

Every bystander was amused by her gentle gaze on Rafael.

''Let's go outside together then.''

Beth smiled at Layla and nodded,

''Let's go then.''

Damian said glaring at Beth because he saw her interactions with another man.

Rafael hugged her waist.

Beth ignored Damian's staring and all of them went outside. Beth went straight to the car.
