You'll See

I woke up to the sound of someone banging on my door and my mom yelling at me to answer it. I looked at my alarm clock that never went off and wouldn't go off until 7:00 a.m.; It's 5:04 a.m.

I rolled my eyes and got out of bed. The person kept hitting the door, each one louder than the other. I lazily walked down the stairs, as slow as I could, and went to the door. I unlocked it and opened it.

Shyanne stood there, "(Y/n), I need to talk to you."

She was clearly ready for school and fully awake. She was wearing a pink shirt with a long white skirt.

"Shyanne, it's five in the morning!" I shouted, "What could possibly be that important?"

She gave me a stern look, "There's a war and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with us."

It started getting really cold, so I moved so she could come in. I closed the door and looked at her, "Us? It could be my fault, but this has nothing to do with you."

"Yeah I know but think about it."

"About what?"

"Why do you think they didn't tell you who Johnathan liked?" She said, "It could be either of us!"

I stared at her with an are-you-stupid look and said, "Okay that literally makes no sense."

She rolled her eyes, "(Y/n), if they like you, they clearly weren't going to tell you. If they like me, they wouldn't have to told you because they probably thought you would tell me."

"Or it's neither of us." I said, "Shyanne, I never asked them who they were fighting about."

"But-"

"But nothing, Shy." I said, "I  think you like them too much."

"Like them to- What?" She said getting confused.

"They never told me who they liked, so there is no way of knowing who they're fighting over." I said, "You only think they like you because you like them, but I don't know."

"(Y/n), I think I'm right." She said.

"And you might be, but there's no way in telling."

It took her a moment to respond, but she nodded, "You're right."

"Plus, if it is you, I'll be at the wedding."

She laughed, "Can I eat something? I thought of that idea and had to come over and ask, so I got dressed and left. I didn't eat supper either."

I motioned to the kitchen, "Go knock yourself out. I'm gonna go get dressed."

She nodded and went to the kitchen. I got dressed into a pair of black jeans and an green, over sized sweatshirt. I ran back down stairs and ate with Shyanne. We didn't want to stick around the house all morning, nor did we want to go to school at 5:30, so we went to the park down the street from the school.

The park closer to my house is more for older kids; It doesn't have playground equipment. However, the park closer to the high school has so many slides, swing sets, and monkey bars, it's hard to keep up.

School doesn't start til 8:00, but we decided to walk there at 7:30. However, when we got there, I wished I never left my bed.

Everyone was already there. EVERYONE. Freshmen; Sophomores; Juniors; Seniors; Cheerleaders; Jocks; Goths; Bloggers; Nerds; Geeks; Dorks were just screaming at each other.

It was worst than I expected. The regular groups weren't in their groups. For example, half of the cheerleaders were on one side and the other half were on the other. Shyanne and I looked at each other, then ran to the mobs.

As we got closer, I realized that one half was dressed in red and the other half was dressed in blue.

We ran past the blue supporters to the front. Evan and Johnathan were screaming at each other. I looked around for the teachers to see why they're not trying to stop this. My eyes landed on the bleachers, where they sat there with money.

"What are they doing?" I asked Shyanne.

She looked at them, "Probably betting on who's going to win."

The bickering started to get louder. I turned to see Brock moving to the front of the red side while Craig moved forward on the blue side. They started swearing at each other like they were sailors. Then, out of nowhere, Craig draws back his fist and punches Brock right int the gut. Brock fell to the ground, puking uncontrollably.

I looked at Shyanne who looked like she was about to puke. I turned her around so she wouldn't have to feel sick. I looked over my shoulder and the only thing that changed was Brock puking up blood. I quickly turned back to Shyanne before I started puking.

"Oh my..." She trailed off.

"I didn't think he had it in him." I said, shaking my head.

I looked at the teacher and they were handing money to different teachers, but they weren't doing anything to help Brock or stop the fight.

The breakfast bell rang and the fighting started to slowly calm down as most students probably didn't eat before they left to fight. I didn't look back, but I heard Brock's puking quite down. The teachers got up and headed inside, still not caring about the fight.

I looked at Shyanne. She wasn't going to puke, but she still looked kind of sick. We started walking to the west side doors, so we wouldn't have to look at the regurgitated food of Brock. We went to ours lockers and just sat in the girls bathroom until further notice. The whole time, we were talking about how this is the first day, and it's only going to get worst.

The bell didn't ring, but I didn't want to sit in to bathroom for a half in hour. When we walked out, I saw Brock's reflection on the nurses mirror on the door. Shyanne and I decided to go in there.

We got to the door frame and I knocked on the open door. He lifted his head and his once happy, beautiful greenish-brownish eyes were now filled with hatred and were sickly looking. He looked at us up and down and they softened up a bit.

"Hey." He said in a scratchy voice.

"Brock," Shyanne whined, pushing past me, "we saw what happened. We're so sorry."

He looked at her and smiled, "Thanks, but it's not your fault. Craig knows that I'm a lover not a fighter, and he used that against me."

Shyanne knelt down to his level because of the low chair. She put her hand on the side of his face and he didn't hesitate to lean his head against it. It was cute to see, but I feel like I should say something.

I opened my mouth to ask him something, but he already answered my question, "Korban explained to us what a High School War is." He looked at me, "Thanks for the tips by the way."

I suddenly remembered telling Kroban and Chirs about a prank that my side did in middle school. I had to explain to them why I did it.

I nodded and walked into the room. I sat in the chair next to him, "Do you know who it's about?"

"Yeah," He said, "I'm just waiting."

Shyanne and I looked at him confused and said at the same time, "Waiting for what?"

He just grinned, "You'll see."

The nurse came in and shooed us out. Shyanne and I kept guessing what he was waiting for.

Shyanne rolled my eyes, and got a sudden realization. She stopped and looked around for some place to go.

"What?" I asked her.

Her eyes landed on a door, "Follow me."

She ran to the door and I followed. When she opened it, we were greeted to a long, narrow staircase leading up.

"Where does that go?" I asked as Shyanne started to run up them.

"To the roof."

I looked at her like she was crazy, but she didn't turn back to me. I looked behind me to see if anyone was looking. My eyes caught a pair of ambers and focused on who they belonged to. Kaylee looked at me with a questionable look. Her and her friends had on a blue version of our cheerleader outfits. Their hair was pulled back and put together with a bow. I quickly broke eye contact and ran after Shyanne up the steps.

There was another door at the end on the staircase and Shyanne opened it. When we stepped outside, it was nice out. Not to cold, not to hot.

I looked at Shyanne, "What?"

"(Y/n), what if Brock is planing on making his own team?" She said.

I thought about it for a second, "It's happened before, but it doesn't really go anywhere."

"No (Y/n)," Shyanne said, "what if he's not the only one trying to do that?"

I realized what she was talking about, "If all the boys break off, then the whole school will be a huge mess."

Shyanne nodded and started freaking out. I can't lie, I did too.

For a good ten minutes, I tried to calm both of us down. When we did, we started laughing about how crazy it would be if they even thought about it.

"They would run out of colors." I laughed and She joined in.

"Nolga's colorblind too." She giggled, "He'll tell his plans to the wrong team."

We started laughing really hard at that, but we soon stopped when the door to the roof slammed open. Johnathan stood there mad and confused.

"Why are you guys on the roof?" He asked walking to us.

"We were talking about something stupid." I said.

"Then why couldn't you just talk about it in the hallway?" He glared at me. He seemed so hateful and mad.

"What's gotten into you?" I said.

"What's that supposed to mean?" He said.

"Why do you seem so hateful?" I asked.

"That's none of your business!"

"Yeah, well it's none of your business why we're on the roof, but you still followed us up here." Shy said.

He rolled his eyes, "Whatever."

"What is wrong with you?" I asked.

"Nothing!" He yelled, "I'm fine!"

"Clearly you're not," I said, "Joh-"

"(Y/n), stop!"

"Stop wh-"

"Knock it off!"

"What am-"

"SHUT UP!" He roared and stormed away. When he got to the door, he looked back at us, "You'll see what's going on sooner or later." Then he left.

Shyanne and I looked at each other. She said, "I don't like what this is doing to our friends."

"Me neither," I said, "but they clearly won't listen to us or tell us anything."

"(Y/n)," Shy said, but she hesitated. She shrugged off whatever and said, "I...I just don't want this to happen. Whatever it is, it doesn't sound good."

I looked back at the door, remembering Johnathan's weird behavior. I thought about what she said, what it'll be, and what might happen.

"I guess we'll see."
