Once we entered the camp for Slypack, we were "greeted" by the alpha immediately. He didn't look to happy. His neck fur was bristling and he was growling. I heard a couple of whines and turned to see Galaxis and Radium crouch down and flip onto their backs submissively. I remained standing.
"Where have you been, you need to stop leaving camp! You two are about to become Young Subordinates, and you act like mid-aged pups!" He snarled at them and then turned to me.
"You too. You need to show more respect for your alpha. Submit!" I stood strongly, ignoring his commands as he repeated them. His snarling caught the attention of the other members in camp. I shook my head and stared him in the eyes as he aggressively shoved his nose in my face. I wanted to snap at him, but I held it. I did fear him, but I refused to show him any respect. At least until he treats me like an actual member of this pack.
"Now!" He snarled. He then snapped at me, pain shot through my ear. I ignored it he best I could and I whispered, "Not until I am treated like an actual member of this pack." I then backed up to see his pathetic face.
"Oh, you will. Trust me, you will. Now, submit or become the new omega."
"Make her a Borderwolf!" I heard a gamma bark. I felt a chill go down my spine at the thought of being a Borderer.
Borderwolves are even lower than the omega. A Borderwolf has many jobs. At approximately 3 hours before dawn, they have to wake up the dawn members of the Hunting League. After that, they sit at the entrance with the Guard and listen to everything they say. No matter what. After the Dawn Hunting League arrives, the Borderer has to go and check the borders to our territory. When done, they come back and fulfill any extra tasks, including helping the omega. Terrible.
I shivered and slowly began to submit. As I did, Bark, the alpha, turned to the wolves who had gathered and barked, "Even the craziest of beasts can be tamed!"
