Chapter 4: Requesting Classes and Visiting Old Friends
A couple days after Luna had met Seaweed and went on her adventure to go to school. It was morning, Luna woke up in her cabin, and she sat there in silence. She looked across the room at the wall for at least a few minutes. The brown wood on the wall seemed to give off an odd, enigmatic feeling in which Luna couldn't describe. The bright light of the sun broke through the blinds on the window violently piercing the ground like little pinpricks.
Luna then turned to look at the desk-shelf that was next to her bed, where her phone was charging. She leaned over to grab her phone, and turned it on to see what time it was.
9:06 AM
"Ugh,"Luna gasped with boredom and fell back to bed.
She contemplated a couple things for a while. Luna then remembered something as an idea entered her mind. What happened to Violet? I haven't seen her in a while. Isn't she like an alternate universe version of me or something, Luna thought.
She kept thinking and the words kept stacking on top of one another.
She said something about another Luna, Luna thought deeply, I wonder how much alike we are...is there a way to contact Violet through any method?
Luna stopped pondering these things and got out of bed. As she got up she said,"I shouldn't bother contemplating and churning. I have more important things to do!"
Luna then got dressed in her usual outfit. Her black hoodie with yellow rings on the sleeves, black pants that also had yellow rings, and boots.
Afterwords she walked out of her bedroom and into the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator to see what good food she could make easily.
"Hmmm." Luna said examining the refrigerator, "Oh! I have some leftovers, I'll eat that."
She then reached into, the refrigerator for the leftover box and pulled it out, then opened it to see what it was. It was some spaghetti with meatballs and had some parmesan cheese sprinkled on it. Luna smiled at it and walked over to the cabinet and grabbed a bowl to put it in. She placed them on the table and scrapped all the contents from the cardboard-made leftover box into the glass bowl. Luna then walked over to the microwave and put it in there to heat up for a minute.
While waiting, and heating up the leftovers Luna danced around the kitchen humming a song that was stuck in her head.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
The time on the microwave went off and her food was ready. Luna took the hot, glass bowl of spaghetti and meatballs out of the microwave and went to the table in her kitchen to eat. Luna grabbed a fork to eat it with and she immediately sat down and scarffed down the warm food. It burned the inside of her mouth, and scorched her tastebuds like a dragon's fire burning its enemies to charred bits.
Luna dropped the fork with a crash of cacophonous noise. She abruptly sat up slamming her hands on the table, then stormed off frantically like a frightened stampede of flaming giraffes, to get water. Luna grabbed a glass and went to the refrigerator to fill it with ice and water.
As frantically as she came, Luna ran back to the table and gulped down the water. Luna sputtered some water out as she laughed, drinking it like the world was ending. She coughed a bit, drank some more water, and let the cool water soothe her pained mouth. After finishing her water she laughed to herself.
"I'm so weird," Luna said and shouted,"I DRANK WATER WEIRDLY."
She laughed again and said,"That should have been my band name, or a song title..."
After cleaning up her mess of water by soaking it up with paper towls, Luna went back to eating. Then finishing her meal, she put the bowl in the sink, cleaned it and put it in the dishwasher.
Luna got bored of the silence so she began to talk about something to herself to make her feel better. It was mostly nonsense, and probably was banter about either art, or music. She started spinning and hummed a song in a fun manner as she entered her living room. Luna walked to the couch were her backpack sat. She unzipped the bag and grabbed out the little piece of paper that she was given the day she and Seaweed had visited the school.
It had a website and a "http" link written on it. It was the school's website, which she could request classes from.
Luna went to look for her computer, and found it sitting in her art room. It was a black laptop, and the screen was open but it wasn't turned on. She then tapped some of the keys and the screen lit up, and she put in her password. Then the computer went to the homepage(of sorts). The background was of a wolf, and then her previous tabs popped up suddenly.
The tabs were:
"First Love (BTS): Piano Sheet Music", "Lie- Jimin BTS sheet music for Piano", "the definition of tirade", and "when is the next eclipse".
Luna smiled to herself as she walked out of her art room and back into the living room, while carrying her computer. Then she remembered something.
"Wait, do I even have a piano?" Luna asked herself.
She remembered that the mansion had a piano back when it wasn't a pile of broken bricks. Luna teared up a little thinking of all the distroyed instruments.
"Dude, I had a bass...and there was a piano," Luna teared up getting distracted by the piano related tabs. "Wait......do I?"
Luna placed the computer on the couch then ran back into the art room and rummaged through the stack of burned canvases that she had off to the side. She looked to see if she had her bass guitar hidden in a burned case amongst the paintings. To her dismay she found nothing.
Luna sighed to herself and said,"Never mind."
And then she walked out of her art room and sat on the couch. Luna grabbed her computer and looked and the piece of paper that had the website on it. She typed it into the search engine of a new tab and finally got to the school's website. She clicked with her mouse and hovered over words and catagories, then finally found the portal, and discovered where the requesting classes page was.
Scrolling through the website she signed into the portal using her email, which brought her to another page that said "Google docs", "Drive", and plenty of other things Luna didn't recognize. Luna found a sort of thing that said "Grades" and it said "scores unavailable". And finally she had made it back to the requesting classes.
There were six open slots for classes sense there were six class periods. Luna requested the normal classes, Math and English, but found that it had to be specific. So she looked for the options and read each description. Math's opinions went from Integrated Math 1, Integrated Math 2, 3, and so on. So because she was going to be a freshman, she decided to chose Integrated Math 1. And it was similar for English, there were multiple options, and there even were AP, and advanced classes. But Luna chose the first option of English, the 9th Grade English.
"I'm going to be a freshman, but I'm fifteen," Luna said to herself,"did I technically miss a year of school.... I didn't though, I'm going back so it doesn't matter."
She then refocused on the task at hand, requesting her classes. Luna had already requested two classes and only had a few more to go. She first got the required glasses out of the way. Next was Science. The options were Earth Science, Biology, and Chemistry. There wasn't a generic science, but it said on the website that it was suggested that freshmen take Earth Science. So she did.
Three down, three to go. Then was another requirement, PE. Physical Education. So she picked the first one that was for 9th Grade. Then she moved on. Luna read on the website that, being a freshman, she wasn't supposed to take any history until sophomore year. So all that was left were electives.
Electives was easy she chose art for both, Beginning drawing and Painting, and Art studio/Mixed Media. Though on the computer it asked for two backup options in case she didn't get them, so she chose piano and ceramics as the backup options.
Overall requesting classes took at least an hour but went by fast. Luna was satisfied with her decisions and clicked a confirm, or submit button at the bottom of the page.
"Well! That is done," Luna said to herself.
Right as she was about to close her computer screen she noticed something, it was a little icon with a pause/play button. She clicked the icon with her mouse and suddenly, the song "Blood, Sweat and Tears" by BTS was blasting out!
"SSHSHSHHHHHHEEEEEEIT!" Luna shouted, jumping back in fear,"WHhAAaaAT IN tHe?!"
Luna had fallen over and was wheezing from laughter. Her eyes were blurry from tears caused by her loud and humorous sounds. She didn't bother getting up, because her stomach ached from the superfluous amounts of laughing. And the song was still playing, which added on to it, and made it nearly impossible for her to stop laughing.
"I didn't know that would happen." Luna laughed,"That was silly. I forgot I had been playing Wings. I must have been painting earlier this week and was listening to the album. I guess I forgot to get the disc out."
Luna quickly got up off the ground and got to her computer to pause the music. Then she clicked a button at the side of the computer that ejected the disc. With a click and a pop-sound a slot that held the disc popped out of the comupter. The disc was a shiny white on one side with the four circle-symbols on it, and had gray, whispy, cloud-like patterns, that looked similar to the way paint looks when flowing through water. Luna delicately took the disc out, fretting that she would accidently break it. Once taking out the disc she sighed with relief, and frantically, even, dramatically, ran to her room to look for the album, to put the disc away.
"Don't break don't break. Don't.
Break. DON'T. Break. Do not break," Luna repeated as she moved quickly with the disc in hand.
Soon enough, she found the small black colored, square shaped booklet sitting on her bookshelf. The cover was stunning in its magnificence. It was such an iconic design with the four different circles and the bold, black and white color scheme. Luna picked it up and flipped to the back of the booklet where the slip for the disc was and gingerly placed the disc inside.
Luna sighed and said,"Since I have the album in my hand, it wouldn't hurt to gaze upon the artistic photos inside."
She smiled and flipped to the first page. Then was the hard part, containing emotions. So she did what was easiest. Luna made a high-pitched squeal, then closed the book and placed it back onto her bookshelf. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath.
"A couple words." Luna began,"Adorable. Art. And complete beauty."
Moving on from the events prior, Luna turned on her heal, in almost a spin, and exited. She left with a neutral countenance, that was almost impossible to keep. Luna then walked into the living room and moved her computer aside.
Luna grabbed her phone and texted Fern.
Text messages
Luna: Hey, Fern how are you doing?
Fern: Good.
Luna: Are you and Flame doing anything today? Do you want to hang out?
Fern: Sure sounds like a great idea! You could come to our apartment, then we could go somewhere and hang out and talk!
Luna: That sounds great! But where do you guys live?
Fern: Oh, here is the address, 41486 Elmson Quin Street. The apartment complex consists of a couple buildings but it is on Elmson Quin Street.
Luna: Cool, thanks.
Fern: No prob, see you soon!
Luna looked down at her phone and turned it off, then put her things away. She rummaged through the pocket of her hoodie and found her stone from a few days ago. Suprised that it was still their she went to put it on her bookshelf and came back into her living room.
She then decided she would only bring her small notebook and a pencil, incase she wanted to draw or write an idea down. So Luna put the items in the pocket of her hoodie and walked out of her house, and closed the door behind her. Taking out her phone, she powered it back on and opened an app for directions.
Luna typed in the address and immediately it gave her directions to go North of the forest.
"Oh! I know where to go!" Luna exclaimed,"I can run to the ruins of the mansion and travel North from there using the directions!"
Luna sighed knowing that she was confident in where she was going. She walked through the forest with, and placed her phone back into her pocket.
The light of the sun was covered slightly by the canopy above and gently touched her as she walked further and further away from her house. It was rather warm outside but there was a slight breeze which made it more tolerable. Luna could sense that it had started to get warmer compared to the temperature it was a week ago. It was the feeling of summer creeping slowly through the forest like a giant, tired, old cat.
Luna stepped through the forest weaving through the trees following the path, and stepping on the forest floor like she had done many times before. She followed the same trail she had walked along many times, the sudden fimilar emotion emanated from the forest. Nostalgia. It was like not skateboarding for a long time, then a year later stepping on the exact board and riding it again. That was how it felt. She recognized certain trees in particular, like a fat old oak tree that was half way in between her cabin and the clearing, and the ruins were just North of the clearing.
Luna always felt confident and calm walking through the forest. One because she was fimilar to her surroundings and that nature made her feel good. But two, she never felt she was in danger. Most women walk in groups, Luna though, has always been by herself. She was a short girl too, so it was kind of odd. And then the thought struck her. Why is it that when I'm alone, walking by myself I'm okay? Luna thought to herself, I guess I have never worried that I would be attacked. Probably because I myself, though short, I'm an Umbreon, black color scheme, red eyes, darkness, evil.
I'm not evil though. Creepypastas...are they evil? Some are murders, Fern wasn't like that...I think...I'm not like that.....of course not...
Luna had been churning so much that she didn't realize where she was. She felt a thin and empty feeling. There were starting to be less trees. She was very close to the ruins, she could tell. There were pine trees with thin trunks that grew around, along with some birch trees, and some others mixed together.
She treaded calmly and soon the trees broke and there, standing before her in its painful piles were the ruins of the mansion. Charred bits of crumbled bricks lay scattered in the grass everywhere. Bits of wood blanks charred or broken, here and there. There was some gore left from the battle, mainly dried blood stains in the dirt and smeared along planks of wood, that no one bothered to clean up. Looking at the decrepit wreckage, made Luna feel a wave of sadness. It made her shocked to know that this once was a building that she and her friends lived in.
"I wonder..." Luna said to herself, as she ran over to the ruins and begun climbing over the bricks.
She searched, and picked up rocks and bricks, moving them aside with her hands. Luna circled around the whole pile and then she found it.
Laying before her was a huge wooden beam propped up against a brick wall that was fallen over, and sinking into the ground. And next to it was the piano. It was a horrible sight. Wood was piled on top of it, there were keys missing, it was missing a leg, and the chair was just broken pieces of misshapen wood. The keys remaining were bashed in. The top of the piano caved in where the roof above the room had fallen and crushed the instrument. The strings and hammers inside were visible and were completely tangled. The wood of the piano was cracked and parts were burnt. The keys were black and orange where they were charred by flames.
Luna cried at the sight of the piano. Its condition was massively brutal for Luna to look at, it couldn't ever be repaired. Some tears that fell from her face stung, and she slapped the side of her face to snap her out.
"Come on Luna, we have to go! No more crying over the past," Luna said to herself,"it is just a piano..."
Luna turned away from the piano and said,"It isn't just a piano."
Then she went looking for her bass, and as she expected, it was completely destroyed. The strings broken, and the neck was snapped off, only two strings still attached kept the two pieces of the bass together.
Luna quickly ran away from the ruins after seeing enough. She didn't want to stay too long. And she didn't want to get distracted again. So she ran the rest of the way.
Luna headed North of the ruins, and followed the directions on her phone to get to Fern and Flame's apartment.
Luna strode through the forest, and would look down at her phone to see if she was going the right way ever so often. A couple minutes went by and she passed trees which consisted of slightly smaller trees, which compared to her still towered above like giants. Luna recognized that she was getting closer to the end of the forest. The trees were still pretty dense, so by the looks of it, Luna had still longer to go.
A sparrowhawk cried above her, she froze. A shiver went up Luna's spine as she recalled the symbolism of a sparrowhawk. Empowerment, awareness. Awareness was the one the impacted her. She remembered that the bird from a piece of art or something, she thought was depicted as a crow or raven was supposed to represent a sparrowhawk. Its eerie cry symbolized mocking, and warning of imminent danger.
Luna watched the bird fly overhead, it was a small raptor, only slightly smaller than a barn owl. The sparrowhawk was significantly lighter in weight as well. But the way he flew, Luna watched almost as if she were watching in slow motion. In fact, it flew rather fast, and drifted across the gap in the canopy and disappeared.
"Huh," Luna laughed to herself,"It seems the sparrowhawk does remind us of his presence....his? That bird was definitely male by the size of him. With such a cry, he was merely just a baby, a juvenile, aww. Fascinating. I am shocked that I saw one. This forest sure has its wonders."
Luna walked on, and stepped on a branch covered in lichen. Then looking back at her phone she clicked off of the Google Maps website and went to Spotify to listen to some music. A smirk spread across her face when the idea came into her head and with lightning speed she clicked one of her favorite albums.
Not caring about others hearing her, she played it.
Luna started skipping through the forest at a face pass as the first song, "Boy meets Evil", started to play. Which was odd, because Spotify plays albums and playlists on shuffle, so it would normally play the songs out of order. However the fact it started with the first song was strange.
Luna mumbled some lyrics out loud trying her best," Eoduwojyeo ga nae miraeui bicc...."
Luna went along skipping and running around through the forest listening to the album Wings.
A couple songs went by until her jam—correction one of her jams, since she likes a lot of songs—had finally started to play. That was when Luna really became one with music, in other words that also means spazzing out and dancing frenetically. And listening to one's jam, for Luna, including screaming, shouting lyrics, and lots of dramatic, dizziness indusing motions.
"Naege malhae," Luna sang along and immediately started dancing around the forest,"neoui dalkomhan misoro naege NAEGE MALHAE. Soksagideut nae gwisgae malhae. DON'T bE Like A Prey! [Be] SmOOTH LIKE A, Like a SNAKE!!! Beoseonago sipeunde..."
As she sang she spun around and around, then turned and continued running in the direction of her destination. She held her arms outspread like bird wings often to keep her balance. And she sang very loudly along to the song not caring about anything. She truly was free.
"Aaahhhh oooooh,"Luna sang then jumped around in a circle each sylable ,"Naegeseo tteona tteona tteonajwo. Naegeseo tteona tteonajwo! Ahhh ooh ooh! Mworado nareul nareul guhaejwo nareul guhaejwo."
Spinning around she sang,"Gyesokdwae domangchyeobwado Geojit soge ppajyeoisseo CAUGHT IN A LIEEEEE!
Sungyeolhaessdeon nal chajajwo
.....I geojit soge heeonal su eopseo Nae useumeul dollyeonwajwo
CAUGHT IN A LIEEEE! I JIOGESEO NAL KKEONAEJWO. I gotongeseo heeonal su eopseo..."
She continued like this for a while, and sung along with all her heart. Luna danced around the forest, with her arms outspread, yet never strayed from her destination. Luna at some points has her eyes closed and metaphorically let the music take her where ever it went. It was as if her feet were detached from her, she was moving but with not much thought. She kept moving, and let the music and her almost absent-minded thoughts control where she went. As if she were engulfed or consumed, drowned in music.
~****~
Later...
It had been at least forty to forty five minutes since she had begun listening to music while running along on her journey, and so many things had already happened. Three songs after "Lie" had played there was an add on Spotify, and afterword it played a song from a different album, which infuriated Luna. She had been filled with so much indignation that she had stopped listening to music, because she had used all her skips trying to get back to songs that were actually on the album.
But now she was nearly out of the forest. Luna strode calmly and got her phone out to check the directions. She kept traveling forward to the North.
With not a single twang of the slightest anxiety in her visage, she walked through the forest as it thinned out. The trees had become significantly less dense, and Luna had started to hear the sounds of cars in the distance. It was a faint echo of the town of buildings not to far beyond.
Taking many steps farther, maybe fifteen feet, or a couple yards or meters. Luna finally made it to the town. There she stood on paved sidewalk, Luna turned her head down to look at the cracks in the cement. Then beyond the sidewalk was a road.
Looking left and right, Luna made sure there were no cars and proceeded to cross the street. The rest of the trip was relatively smooth. Luna knew were she was going with the help of directions on her phone.
She crossed the street and read the signs, one said "Birtch" and the second sign said "Willow". So looking and her directions on her phone Luna learned she had to follow the street "Willow" and go forward until it intersects "Elmson".
Luna was walking on Willow Street when she turned to see a fimilar figure leaning against a building off to the side. They were standing outside a tea shop or cafe, built of red bricks, and had a green roof, that was closed that day. The figure was taller than Luna by a significant amount of height. And wore an outfit that was mainly black, consisting of a long black jacket, jeans and boots. They had long dark hair, and it was ambiguous wether they were female or male, and overall had a look to them that made them neither feminine or masculine. It was Artist, one of Luna's friends, who she had met from being part of the Creepypasta.
"Oh!" Luna said a bit shocked,"Hey Artist, haven't seen you in a while."
They turned and looked at Luna and nodded and said,"Hello, it is good to see you, it has been a while."
"It really has," Luna said,"how is your art going?"
They shook their head and looked up at the sky as if asking for the world's answers. As if asking for help.
"I stopped making videos..."Artist began in a quite voice,"however, I still paint."
They paused and took a deep breath of air, and then let out a long laboured sigh. It was obvious that they were having trouble breathing. Artist shook their head again and spoke in a raspy voice,"Art isn't the same... I don't do the kind of art I used to...too much, very expensive."
"I see," Luna nodded knowingly.
"It isn't healthy anymore, the techniques,"They said vaguely, "the last few videos, was all acting. There is more struggle to look realistic while being fake...being real it is numb."
Luna understood. The Artist was a creepypasta, or at least they used to be, Luna wasn't sure they still were. But by the way the conversation was going they might not be anymore. They killed people, and made artistic music videos with stories of death, struggle, chaos, drugs, anything damaging possible, they had turned it into art. And Luna helped them once. She played some musical instruments for the video. But now Artist seemed disappointed, but calmer.
"I haven't seen anyone else I remember from the group,"Artist said referring to other Creepypastas.
"Yeah," Luna responded,"after everyone left, I don't know what happened..."
Luna looked around then after a moment of silence said,"So you are retired?"
"Haven't killed a single person in many months," They answered. "I feel a bit at peace."
"That is good. Well it was cool talking to you," Luna said and was about to leave,"I'm on my way to visit my friends."
Artist stood up straight then reached their hands into their jacket and pulled out a large case that they had strapped at their side. They displayed the case infront of them in both hands and motioned it toward Luna.
"It is a gift," They said handing the large case to her.
Luna took it in both hands and opened the case, it was a bass guitar. And it had a strap for her to wear it. It looked very new and was in good condition. Luna beamed, her red eyes lit up with gratitude. "This is a wonderful gift,"Luna beamed,"thank you."
"You are welcome," Artist said nodding,"after everything in the mansion being distroyed, you and your friends instruments, including, some of my own. I thought it would be nice."
"Thank you," Luna said.
She waved goodbye to them as she left, carrying her new bass, and strung it across her shoulder with the strap it came with. Luna kept walking until they were no longer in sight, and the tall figure that was the Artist was gone.
~****~
A couple minutes after her incounter with Artist, Luna had finally made it to Fern and Flame's aparentment. Like Fern said, it was on the street were Elmson became Quin street, thus making it known as "Elmson Quin Street".
Luna walked up to the door of the a aparentment and knocked on the door with her knuckles three times.
As she waited, Luna held her own hands and fidgeted with anxiety. And she checked to see if she still had the bass and its case strapped to her back, which it was. But the moment of silence and waiting was very awkward. Then finally the door opened.
Fern opened the door and smiled at Luna.
"Oh Luna, it's you," Fern said with a joyful tone,"what are you doing here?"
"I ca—" Luna began in a bored and almost indignant tone,"Fern, we planned this...we texted each other this morning."
Fern's eyes grew wide and she laughed,"Oh I forgot! Sorry."
"It is alright,"Luna said.
"Come in, come in! Let's talk!" Fern said welcoming her inside the aparentment.
They walked inside the aparentment and the first thing that Luna saw was Flame, sitting on a couch playing video games.
Luna looked at him and said,"What's up!"
"Hey," He murmured not looking away from his video game.
Fern stared indignantly and said,"Flame! This is not how you treat out guest, get up and say 'hi', please!"
Flame looked at Fern with a knowing face expression then placed the game controller gingerly on the couch then abruptly stood up. He walked over to where Fern and Luna were standing and said,"Hello, Luna."
"Thank you," Fern said to Flame. Fern turned rapidly, her yellow and green, leafy hair whipping the sides of her face, as she went to talk to Luna again.
"Do you want anything to drink?" Fern asked,"Would you like some tea? Or water?"
"Tea, what kind do you have?" Luna responded calmly.
"Green tea, and black tea," Fern answered.
"Which ever is the generic brand," Luna said, then gave an example and got nostalgic,"like the ones that my Mum used to buy when I was little....what were they called...the tea was often a brown color."
Fern's eyes lit up, and her leaf shaped ears lifted too,"Oh you are referring to black tea!"
"Yeah that would be good," Luna nodded.
Fern then turned her head to look at Flame hoping he did not go back to playing video games.
"Flame, you wouldn't mind making some tea for us would you?" Fern asked him politely with a kind smile.
Flame smiled back with equal kindness and said,"Yes, would you guys like milk in your tea?"
Luna raised her hand like a young child in school would and cheered,"Yes please! Adding milk is good for children."
"Got it," Flame said and exited the living room and dashed into the kitchen.
Flame began preparing their tea, meanwhile, Luna and Fern sat on the couch in the living room and talked. Luna immediately began to tell her tale of how she met Seaweed, and how they used to be good friends in middleschool, and recently had reconnected. And how they went to get Luna back into her education.
"I'm proud that you are going back to school." Fern said to Luna,"You are young, fifteen years old, education is really important."
"But aren't you nineteen?" Luna asked.
"I was homeschooled," Fern added,"it is different."
Luna rolled her eyes and said in a lighthearted tone,"Yeah right."
"So," Fern began with a mischievous smile,"have you had any romantic attraction towards anyone?"
Luna glared indignantly at her and shouted,"Uh! That is outrageous!"
At Luna's responce, Fern almost shrunk, like an owl wilfing with fear, and was silent. She didn't say anything but had a still face expression, with wide eyes.
Flame entered the room just at the right time carrying the cups of tea.
"Hi guys what's going on! I got the Tea!" Flame declared.
Then without warning, both Luna and Fern bursted out laughing. Luna almost shrieked or gave a soft, airy-cackle and then doubled over on herself. Fern laughed an equally loud laugh, that was infectious, and caused Flame to smile.
"What's so funny?" Flame asked in a light tone.
In responce, Fern laughed a little louder. Then Fern continued laughing. At this point, Luna had fallen off the couch and was wheezing.
Flame stared dumbfounded and asked,"Guys...why are you laughing?"
"He doesn't know!?" Luna laughed.
Fern continued to laugh as she spoke and yelled,"HE DOESN'T KNOW!"
Luna covered her mouth to try to hold in her laugh, but found it futile and kept laughing.
Flame glanced at both of them and said,"What are you guys talking about?"
"THE MEME!" Fern yelled while wheezing.
"What meme?" Flame asked confused.
Luna then facepalmed and said,"The TEA MEMES!"
Fern yelled,"SPILL THE TEA, SIS!"
"Y E S,"Luna responded.
"Ohhhhh!" Flame gasped realizing what they ment.
"Now he gets it! You're almost as stupid as—" Luna began to say but stopped talking abruptly.
Flame stared blankly and Fern said,"Did you just call my boyfriend stupid?"
Luna got upset because of this misunderstanding and said,"That isn't what I ment. It-I, I was reminded of something stupid...dense, stupid, idiot, clumsy...Not Flame, Flame you're cool, we're the Tsundere Squad, remember? Squad!"
Then she began t-posing as if to prove what she was saying.
"Tsundere Squad?" He said confused.
Fern said nothing but her face portrayed complete confusion, and incomprehension.
"The Moonclan," Luna began,"I mean, you know.... It is a running on joke in my cartoon I have been drawing. Remember the famous quote, 'G-g-get away from me you're scaring me'? No? Forget it, could you pass me my cup of tea please?"
Luna paused and then added,"I want to distract my mind by drinking tea..."
"Same," Fern said.
Flame placed the tray that he had been carrying the tea on and set it on the table. He said,"okay." And passed Luna and Fern their cups of tea.
Luna took her black tea, which was a creamy, light brown that was almost a warm gray, from the milk added to it. She then brought the cup up to her lips and sipped the tea in almost a nervous manner. Fern did the same as she gingerly picked up her warm green tea that had whisps of steam comming off from the light yellowish liquid. Fern cooled it down by blowing air on it before proceeding to sip her tea.
Fern took another sip of tea and said,"Wow, Flame! This is really good, have you ever thought about working at a tea shop?"
"Thank you, I'm glad that you like the tea," he said with a smile.
Luna smirked understanding the reference, and continued sipping her tea surreptitiously.
Fern noticed the way Luna had been smiling and asked her,"What are you smiling about?"
"Oh it is nothing important,"Luna replied and continued to drink her tea. After each sip, she closed her eyes and sighed, almost like a cat, sleepy and at peace.
"You have a guitar," Flame asked, "I didn't notice until now."
Luna took the case off and lifted it over her head and placed it on her lap. She opened it to show the new bass that was inside. It was an acoustic bass guitar made out of a brown wood, it had a neck which was slightly longer than a guitar, and four thick bass strings.
"It is a bass,"Luna explained, "it looks really cool, I kind of want to play it."
She began strumming and plucking at the bass guitar strings and listening to the sound they made. Once she got something she liked, she began playing something.
Luna began to sing a tune:
"I remember the time I used to throw stuff out of a window. I remember all the stupid, terrible things I did.
I remember the way I used to live, screaming at the world.
Do you remember the stupid things we did. Like throwing things and burning them. Watching the flames lick their decaying, deformed....Figures.
Watching the flames dissipate.
I remember.
Our messed up pasts, I remember the way. How we joined a clique of murderers for the heck of it!"
Luna laughed trying to come up with words at the top of her head. But then she soon continued.
"And now I sit here with my friends. Recalling the times we had. All the friends we made, all the times we spent. Making random songs. Random momments filled with joy I miss. People I miss. Things I miss, that I'll never get back.
Do I really want them back?
Do I really want them back?
Or do I just miss the company and not the context.
I'm glad it's gone. That we're all less edgy, just some normal people....
I remember feeling like, just a random kid trying to fit in. Like that fifteen year old in a group of older kids. People annoyed at me for thinking that I am weird.
That, is why I'm glad it is gone.
Oh yes, I remember.
Oh yes, I remember.
That band we left behind. Songs that I continue to rewrite. Songs of endings.
Songs that put me down.
Yes now, I remember,
Oh now I remember what I used to say.
Things like 'Oh my songs suck' or 'all my lyrics at crap!' 'My lyrics never rhyme.'
Oh well it may be true, but hey I am trying anyway...."
Luna stopped playing the bass, and set it down in her lap when she finished singing. She looked over at Fern and Flame to see their reactions. Fern was amazed and smiled with awe.
"Luna! That was amazing! I love that song so much!" Fern said, her smile grew larger, "Did you come up with that just now?"
"Sort of..." Luna responded, "the music was a jumble of notes from other songs that I have wrote...the lyrics I was just rambling. I notice that when I write a song I don't usually rhyme."
Flame nodded in agreement with the statement Fern had said, then spoke, "you are still very talented, to be able to just randomly come up with something is a hard skill."
"Thanks for saying that guys..." Luna spoke in a modest tone, "I don't really think to highly about myself sometimes."
"Well you should," Fern said after finishing the last bit of her tea, "that was a great song."
They all talked a little longer.
And finally the question was asked, Fern, "Hey where did you get that bass?"
Luna smiled and thought, I was wondering when one of you guys would ask that.
"My friend, Artist, gave it to me," Luna replied calmly.
"Who's Artist?" Flame asked, "if you don't mind me asking?"
Luna nodded and said, "Artist was a creepypasta, they did art, and I helped them once with a song or video. They recently have retired, they seemed at peace when I spoke with them. Artist mentioned that they haven't seen any of the others, and hasn't killed anyone... It is good to know they are well."
"Oh that is cool," Fern responded brightly. "How long have you known Artist?"
"Since I had joined your group...since I started hanging around the mansion," Luna answered.
Fern asked, "What is Artist's real name?"
Luna shook her head, then said, "I'm not sure."
"Oh,"Fern said, "Have you ever asked them their real name?"
"I have not," Luna replied, "I don't think I ever really thought of that. It did not really matter to me. Artist is Artist, they are just a person, they are who they are. They are my friend. I just never really thought of it, I guess."
"Oh, okay," said Fern.
"Hey do you guys still write songs?" Luna asked, "Remember how we used to have a band?"
"I remember," Flame replied, "I do write some lyrics, when I'm bored. I'm just more focused on videogames."
Fern smiled and almost made a slight laugh.
"What is so funny?" Flame asked.
"Nothing," Fern responded and smiled.
"Okay," Flame said.
They didn't talk about much afterword, the three just spent time, either rememberingt he past, or talking about what was going on in their present day lives. At one point Luna asked Fern and Flame what kind of videogames they had.
But they never ended up answering her question. It was alright though. Time quickly passed and soon it was getting late.
"I should get going home before the sun goes down, "Luna said looking at the clock on the wall. "I wouldn't want to walk in the dark."
"But you can see in the dark? You're an Umbreon,"Fern said.
"I know, but still," Luna responded, "being alone at night still bothers me."
"That makes sense," Fern nodded.
"I better get going," Luna said and sat up from the couch, "thanks for your hospitality. The tea was wonderful!"
"No problem," Flame said acknowledging her complement toward his cooking and tea making.
Luna walked over to the entrance of the apartment. She stood by the door and put her bass back into its case and then strapped it to her back.
"I guess this is goodbye for now," Luna said to the both of them and gave them hugs.
"Goodbye, Luna,"Fern said wrapping her tan and green leafy sleeved arms around Luna in a hug, "I hope we hang out again soon!"
"Me too," Luna said smiling and embraced her back.
Flame reluctantly, out of Fern's encouragement joined the hug. His awkward stiffness was very humorous. If anyone were to see them, the sight would be two girls, one five foot, the other maybe five foot five, hugging a tall guy who was nearly six foot.
Luna, Fern, and Flame broke from their hug. Flame sighed with relief and Luna and Fern laughed together in responce.
"Goodbye Fern! Goodbye Flame," Luna said heading out of the door, "I hope to see you both very soon! Bye guys!"
Fern and Flame waved as Luna walked away from the apartment. Luna waved back then continued on her journey back to her home. Soon after she had left, Luna noticed they had closed the door.
She smiled to herself and continued walking. Luna's journey was very arduous, but she was grateful to make it back to her house in the forest at a good time. It was only 5 pm nearly six when she got back.
Immediately upon opening the door of her house, Luna closed it and flung herself onto the couch and took a long nap. An indeterminate amount of time passed, but when Luna woke, she got up and placed her new bass in her art room. Then she went to the kitchen to make herself some dinner, then after finishing her meal, went to bed and read a book.
Her day was great and it had been very eventful. She had ran around the forest, listening to music, she had seen a young sparrowhawk, and lots of nature. Luna had seen good friends, and was surprised to see Artist, who gave her the new bass, and Luna got to spend time with her friends Fern and Flame.
As Luna closed her eyes and fell asleep she recalled the things she did that day and smiled. Then within minutes she was asleep.
