Chapter Six: Nowhere
Aiden's POV
Hayden wiped his forehead full of sweat, baseball cap in hand.
"Well shit. The pipe's busted and we are literally in the middle of nowhere. How lucky." Blake growled annoyed. Monica rubbed his back, trying to calm him down.
"Hey don't worry. We will figure this out together." I nodded in agreement and added to her statement.
"She's right. There's nothing we can't do. This is the Woods pack after all." James howled from inside of the R.V. causing some laughter around the group.
The heat was getting insane as we were stuck in the middle of the desert.
"Alright here's the plan."
Blake whistled everyone to huddle in a circle before speaking. He split us up into partners and we all had a job.
"James, Aiden, and Jade will stay with you. You can figure out a way to try to keep the R.V. running. Hayden, you and I will go out and hunt for food, find a lizard or something. Daniel and Alex, stay here and be babysitters for little Mia. Take turns. Any questions?"
Daniel raised his hand as Mia rested on his other arm.
"Why can't I do something manly? Babysitting isn't something I'd prefer..."
James was about to speak but Blake raised his hand and answered.
"Trust me. Babysitting is the manliest job there is. Plus it'll help you in the future."
Monica hissed in pain and held her stomach, rubbing it a little.
"Break!"
We all went our own directions and began working on getting out of here.
I overheard Blake talking to Monica, I felt like it was something I shouldn't have done.
"Honey, the pup is doing fine. Just a bit hungry." Monica muttered. Blake pecked her lips and went down on one knee.
"Don't bother your mommy too much. I'll be back with food soon. How's squirrel sound?" She ruffled his hair and giggled a little bit.
"Sounds yummy." They said their 'I love you's' and Blake walked past me. He pats my shoulder before meeting up with Hayden to get lunch for the crew. I glanced at Monica making eye contact with her. She was pregnant?
She smiled at me and waved.
"Aiden! We need a hand over here!" James yelled. I jogged toward him, standing tall next to him.
"Can you hold the pipe up while I see what's going on in the bottom?" He asked nicely. I nodded my head quickly and grasped the pipe in my hands, pushing it up with all my strength.
"Perfect! Okay, it seems like we just lost a screw for one of the panels. It's hitting the pipe which explains the weird noise. Jade! Can you bring a metal clothing hanger?"
I made a weird face and shrugged my shoulders at Jade, who was completely confused.
"Uh, yeah of course. I'll be back in a sec."
After a few moments, she came back with the hanger handing it to James as he sat on the floor. He started to undo the hanger making it into a long wire. James made hooks on the ends and wrapped it around the pipe to keep it from hitting the bottom.
Smart.
"There that should hold it until we make into at least a small city." He wiped his face, getting some oil and grease on it. Lena walked out of the R.V. making her way to us. She laughed a tiny bit sitting next to him.
"What's so funny Lena?" James questioned. She rolled her eyes and licked the pad of her thumb, wiping off the oil. I decided to leave them alone so they can have a moment of peace together.
The loud sound of my feet stomping into the R.V. was heard, along with the loud cries of baby Mia. I turned my body to the left and saw Daniel trying to keep her quiet, failing miserably.
"Daniel! What the hell bro?" I jogged to him and grabbed Mia out of his grasp. She started to quiet down causing Alex to snicker next to us.
"Why are you just sitting around? This isn't funny you dickheads." Alex puffed his cheeks to prevent himself from laughing anymore. Daniel let out a sigh of relief while he rubbed his face.
"Finally, some peace and quiet. I-I can't ever seem to make her happy. She just doesn't like me!" Daniel screeched.
"Awe, don't say that dude. She just doesn't know you well enough." Alex comforted him. Monica knocked on the door letting us all become aware of her. She touched her stomach and began speaking softly,
"Blake and Hayden are back. They brought some food if you'd like some? Once we finish eating we are continuing our journey back home so get fueled up."
I followed her out watching everyone sitting on the dry dirt conversing among themselves. Blake grew out his claws and started skinning the squirrel and mice he had found. He licked the blood off of his fingers, wiping them off on his jeans.
"Lunch is served." Lena face-palmed herself groaning a tiny bit.
"Oh no. Not this again."
When hanging out with werewolves, I guess we just have to get used to raw things. Gross.

Lena's POV
James slept peacefully on my lap and I massaged his shoulders. He switched places with Blake and was now resting from the long drive. He snored a tiny bit and shifted in his sleep on the uncomfortable booth seat we were on. Across from me, Jade was burping Mia and Hayden was cooing things at her.
"I can't wait to finally get home and just take a shower." Aiden sighed and stared at the wall.
"Agreed," Alex mumbled while reading a comic book.
"I can't wait to see how you humans live! I've never been anywhere without werewolves." Monica happily responded. To be honest, it wasn't as luxurious as the Pack but it was nice. Nothing too big and formal.
The R.V. came to a stop as Blake parked it in a parking lot.
"Okay, we have a ten-minute break. Be quick, we still have a couple of hundred miles until we make it to Salt Lake City." He opened the driver's door, the beeping sound alarming James.
He rubbed his eyes and squinting his eyes from the bright lights.
"Hello, sleepyhead," I whispered. He sat up and stretched his arms, making me stare at him as if he was a whole meal. I had to force myself not to drool and fall into a daze.
"Mhm, you can keep staring. I mean I'm all yours anyway." I shook my head and blushed deeply at him. He stood up and held his hand out for me to hold onto which I held immediately.
We walked out and the cold air nipped at my skin, my teeth clicking and goosebumps arising on my skin. James took notice and held me close to him. His warm skin made me feel better in seconds.
"We're at a gas station? You hungry sweetheart?" My heart melted knowing he cared for me.
"I could go for a snack." James dragged me into the gas station and let me get whatever I wanted.
"Buy whatever you'd like, I'll be waiting in the front." He pecked my lips and left me alone.
I walked around the aisles, grabbing a bag of Original Lays and some Swedish Fish. James waited patiently for me next to the cashier. He saw me coming and smiled widely, glancing at the two things in my hands.
"That's all?" I kissed his cheek.
"Yep."
The cashier rang up the snacks and was checking me out intensely. He smirked to himself licking his lips.
James grips onto my waist, pushing me behind him so I was out of the cashier's view.
"Mind telling me why you're imagining my girlfriend naked?"
The idiot shrugs his shoulders and answered with confidence.
"She's hot bro. Totally bang worthy." Oh, God. He's dead.
James grabbed the puny boy by the collar and brought his face closer. I could tell he was fighting the urge to shift but I had no idea how I would stop him. James's teeth began to change and the cashier's eyes widened.
"James, calm down." I tried speaking. He ignored me.
"Woah! Hey, what's going on here?"
Hayden shoved James off of the kid and rested a hand on his chest to prevent him from going any further. Hayden grabbed a five-dollar bill out of his pocket and slammed it on the counter, dragging both of us out of there.
"Keep the change!" Hayden yelled out. I turned my head to see the poor boy shaking with fear. We stopped outside of the R.V. and Hayden began speaking to both of us.
"What the hell was that? You can't just shift whenever you want to in this 'realm'. The human world is worse than you think. If he figures out what you are, werewolves will die. What did he say anyway to make you so angry?"
James rolled his eyes and hugged me quietly still trying to calm down.
"I should have just killed him." He muttered. I patted his back once in a while, letting him sulk in his thoughts for a moment.
"James, if this happens again, I need to know how I can calm you down. I don't want to see you get hurt or someone else getting hurt. Can you do that for me?"
"Okay, can someone please answer me?" Hayden asked once again. I decided to reply, knowing James isn't going to any time soon.
"The cashier was being rude, he was making inappropriate comments about me. He also was checking me out." James growled and started making his way back into the gas station.
I stopped in front of him and held both of his hands.
"James, look at me," He glared into my eyes and I saw the amount of anger they held. He was breathing heavily, low growls leaving him every few seconds.
"He's just a boy who doesn't know what he is saying. He didn't harm me in any way and I'm doing perfectly fine. Just calm down and forget about him, I love you okay? Not him." James gulped deeply before picking me up and rushing back into the R.V.
He slammed the bedroom door closing it and pushed me onto the bed climbing on top of me. His lips connected with mine roughly as his hands went under my shirt and he nuzzled his head in the crook of my neck, sniffing me deeply.
"I want to mark you so bad." I moved his head to face me again whispering very quietly.
"Then do it," James smirked and in a swift motion, his teeth sharpening.
Right when he was about too the door opened. I shifted my head to the side and saw Alex with his eyes wide and mouth opened in shock. My eyes trailed down to his arms, seeing him covering Mia's eyes right away.
"AHHHHH!" He screamed loudly causing me to wince.
James groaned and fell onto the bed next to me. I jumped up quickly trying to shush Alex before he alarmed anyone. My hand went over his mouth and I sat him down on the bed next to my mate who laid embarrassed.
"Alex, listen to me."
He handed me Mia and left the room without another word. Mia tilted her small head, giving me a gummy smile. She made warbling noises every now and then.
"We didn't do anything...promise," I spoke to no one. James sat up, sitting behind me with his legs on both sides. I was in between them.
Alex walked back in, grabbing Mia before screeching out words.
"PLEASE don't ever let me see that again! Poor Mia can't grow up knowing she almost saw her Aunt and Uncle..doing it in front of her."
James snorted a small laugh and I hid my face in my hands, trying to find something to say.
"Alex. Next time just knock the door when it's closed. What did you need anyway?" He blew a raspberry and bounced Mia in his arms slightly.
"We just wanted to take a nap."
Awe man.
