"Camille, wait up," Hermione called out to the french girl and she turned around noticing it was the younger girl and she smiled slightly.
Camille had just gotten done with
"Hi Hermione," she greeted her.
"I am so sorry about Ginny. It's just we're close and -"
"It's okay," she gave a reassuring smile. "I'm sorry if what I said came out wrong. How do you say it? It wasn't my intention," she said a little unsure and Hermione nodded her head with a smile.
Although Camille was pretty fluent in English she still was confused on how to express herself sometimes and it would get messed up and jumbled together to where it didn't make any sense. Her parents spoke English as well but they were much better at it then she was. They had years of practice whereas she hadn't and it was still a little confusing to her. Camille and Hermione kept walking in the corridors.
"Anyways," Hermione continued. "I wanted to actually ask you more about your point that you came up with last night. I thought it was interesting and I know you are right. That I need to back it up."
"Well, before we begin, I want you to know it iz not my thoughts. It's just if someone does argue with you about S.P.E.W you need to be able to back up your beliefs instead of the argument of that its their right. Understand?"
"Yes," Hermione nodded her head and allowed the french girl to continue.
"So what I was trying to say last night was that some of them may not want independence from their masters," Camille went on to explain. "You see some of them are either used to that life that they live, or their family members can't get out of slavery, etc. Or it could be that they can't find jobs elsewhere to provide for their families. At least in France that I know of, we don't have many places that allow House Elves to have a job anywhere else. It's wrong but unfortunately many places don't want to deal with the burden of their masters coming back for them. You see?"
"I do," Hermione said keeping an open mind. "So in France there aren't many job openings for House Elves?"
"Non," Camille shook her head sadly. "Unfortunately not. My parents don't have a House Elf because my parents don't like the idea of it but some of our friends do. They treat them well, much better than most House Elves at least."
"That's awful," Hermione said as she shook her head. "So then there needs to be more jobs available for them as well?"
"Oui," Camille nods her head as the younger girl was understanding what she was saying despite the language barrier. "Iz there enough jobs for them here?"
"No," Hermione said agreeing with the french girl. "All they can do is either be a slave to wizarding families or work in the kitchens here at Hogwarts."
"We would have to probably write a letter to the Minister of Magic. Iz he a good guy?"
"Mr. Fudge?" Hermione let out a small laugh. "I dunno. He's not the best but I suppose he's not the worst either. When should we begin?"
"Now," Camille said with a curt nod of her head. "I'll take one of those pins, er, if it's all right?"
"Of course," Hermione said with a happy smile to have another person on board with S.P.E.W as she handed the golden girl one and she put it on her uniform.
"I think it would be better if you wrote the letter," Camille told the younger girl. "You are after all the president of S.P.E.W, are you not? I will help with the wording."
"Okay," Hermione agreed as she grabbed a piece of parchment and her quill as she began to write as she listened to Camille.
Dear Professor Fudge,
Our names are Hermione Granger and Camille Dubois. I am fourth year student at Hogwarts whilst Camille is a student from Beauxbatons here for this years Triwizard Tournament. We are writing on behalf of the house-elves. We believe it is important for house-elves to have more job opportunities without the fear of their old master coming after them. They shouldn't have to fear for their lives.
We would like to ask you, Minister Fudge, if you would be able to grant house-elves the right to leave their masters if they wish to do so, without the need of having to receive a piece of clothing from someone to free themselves.
All we are simply asking for, sir, is for there to be more job opportunities for house-elves. That they are to not be called 'house-elves' but rather just elves. Shouldn't they have a right to choose what they wish to do just like the rest of us?
Whilst at Hogwarts, I, Hermione Granger, came up with S.P.E.W which stands for The Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare. Just recently, whilst I attended the Quidditch World Cup, I noticed the unfair treatment some of the elves endured from their masters.
Sincerely,
Hermione Granger, President of S.P.E.W and Camille Dubois
"We can use my owl to send it to the minister," Camille told Hermione since she didn't have one.
"Thank you," Hermione told her grateful.
"My pleasure. Hopefully we will hear back from him soon, oui? I know it's insane right now with Sirius Black still on the loose and the Triwizard Tournament," she commented.
"S-sirius Black?" Hermione said as she didn't know she knew of him.
"Yeah, apparently he helped murder the Potter's and joined You-Know-Who's side."
"Right," Hermione tried to laugh it off.
Hermione couldn't tell Camille that she knew Sirius was innocent and that she knew where he lived. Sirius Black still scared the wizard community and whilst the trio knew the truth, not everyone did. Hermione didn't understand why he wasn't given the right to a trial. A trial he deserved.
They went to the Owlery as she found her owl, Antoinette and handed her the letter as she took it in her beak after Camille gave her some pellets of food.
"Send to the Ministry of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, Antionette," she told her owl as she petted her and she let out a small squeak as she fluttered her wings and took off flying into the daytime sky.

"What are you two up to?" George asked as he spotted Camille and Hermione together.
"We wrote a letter to Minister Fudge," Camille told him with a smile as she looked at Hermione.
"About what?" He asked them.
"About the elves," Hermione said. "Asking for them to have more job opportunities without the fear of their old masters coming back for them."
"Elves? Oh, you mean the house-elves?"
"No, they're elves," Hermione corrected them and Camille nodded her head in agreement. "Which reminds me, would you and Fred be able to pass out these pins to people and get them to support the cause?"
"Please?" Camille joined in as she pleaded with him after seeing him hesitate before he gave in and let out a sigh to which the two girls cheered.
"All right," he agreed. "Give me loads of them, will ya? What do I say?"
Hermione went into detail about what S.P.E.W was and Camille helped with the response to be said about those who would argue with it. Of course, they knew that it wouldn't just be Slytherin students who would be put off by it. George ended up being interested in it as well and asked for a pin to wear.
"I 'ave a question," Camille asked the two. "Do you think this Harry Potter put his name in the Goblet of Fire? You two seem close with him."
"Hermione would know better than me," George commented. "But no, I don't think he would do something like that."
"He wouldn't and he didn't," Hermione said with a huff. "They're stupid rumours. Don't listen to the other students, Camille."
"Why do the other students seem to hate him?" She asked the two of them with her eyebrows furrowed, believing them.
"Because he believes You-Know-Who is returning. He's thought so for years and every time the other students think he's speaking rubbish and don't believe him."
"D'you think he is? Returning, I mean," she asked nervous as she wrung her hands together.
"I do," Hermione said quietly as all three of them seemed nervous about it. "I haven't actually seen him, but in our second year here, Harry had to save George's sister from the Chamber of Secrets."
"The Chamber of Secrets? What is that? It seems rather scary. Look," she pulled up her blue sleeve from her dress. "I 'ave goosebumps just hearing the name," she said and the two cracked a smile.
George didn't like talking much about what had happened that year as the Weasley family had all feared for Ginny's life and safety.
"It was pretty scary," Hermione agreed with the french girl as she continued on with her story. "We were believed to think it was only a legend. That Salazar Slytherin created the Chamber of Secrets deep within this school to house a monster, called a Basilisk, that was supposed to get rid of all Muggle-borns."
"That's awful," Camille agreed, sad, and understanding Ginny a bit better now. "But what did Ginny 'ave to do with it?"
"She carried out his dirty work," George told her and Hermione was surprised that he spoke up about it. "Made her write stuff on the walls and it would freak everyone out."
"Is she okay now?"
"All good now," George told her as they continued walking. "Though I'm not sure who was more afraid - Ginny or my mum."
"I do not blame your maman," Camille said shaking her head. "I could not imagine what that must be like."
*
"I think Viktor already likes you," Camille said as she had caught him staring at Hermione and she blushed slightly.
"Really? What makes you think so?"
"Well, for one, he keeps staring at you. If you 'ave noticed he hasn't paid much attention to any of the other girls here at the school."
"But looking at someone could mean anything," Hermione pointed out as Camille sipped on her pumpkin juice.
"If you say so," Camille shook her head as she didn't agree with her. "But the way he looks at you is different than a normal look. It's the way someone looks at someone else when they like them."
"So what do I do then?" Hermione let out a huff frustrated and the golden girl laughed softly at her frustration.
"You play it cool," she told her.
"What? All of this help you give me and you just tell me to play it cool?" Hermione flailed her arms as she spoke.
"Oui," Camille spoke calmly. "Guys don't like it when girls chase after them. Well, most of the time at least. So, be calm and be yourself."
"But what if he doesn't like the real me?" Hermione cried.
"Then he is not worth your time," Camille gave her a smile. "I 'ave a feeling though that won't be a problem."

Camille was in Charms as she sat next to Fred. Professor Flitwick stood at the front of the class as he adjusted his glasses. Camille looked at the part-goblin as Fred was nudging her side trying to get her attention but she always liked to pay attention to her classes.
"Hello everyone, and welcome back to another lesson of Charms!" Professor Flitwick started out. "As I announced last lesson, we will be focusing on movement today. To be more precise, we will discuss all different kinds of charms that you can use on either yourself or another person to create a movement, and take a look at the limitations and chances that research is still facing in this area, especially when it comes to flying. We have quite a lot of magic to cover today as well as some background information, so take out both your quills and your wands: you will learn about five spells today."
"What?" Camille said rather harshly to Fred when he wouldn't stop bothering her and he grinned at her.
"George and I have an idea about a new invention we want to run by you when we're done with class."
"That's what you annoyed me about whilst I tried focusing on what Professor Flitwick was saying?"
"Yeah," he gave a sheepish smile. "Sorry."
"It's all right," she let out a huff then smiled back. "I promise I'm more excited to hear more. But after class."
"After class," Fred agreed with a curt nod of his head.
"Flying is a concept which has fascinated both Muggles and magical people alike for centuries. Some people believe that the dream of flying like a bird is almost as old as the human race. Looking at birds, many people before us have, and many generations to be born in the future will dream about simply spreading one's wings and soaring into the skies. Unfortunately, this proves to be an impossible dream for everyone but avian animagi, yet it is from this idea that the creation of the "flight" charms you discussed in your First Year began. As you all know, these spells will not work on a living creature though, as demonstrated by the tale of Natasha Addington, whose first public application of the Levitation Charm on herself lifted only his clothes. Whilst theoretically possible to cast these spells on living beings, it is quite complex and not recommended in most everyday situations for obvious reasons.
"Which spells are safe for you, though?" Professor Flitwick asked as he walked back and forth in front of his desk. "If you take a moment to consider situations when you are most likely to need to move another person by the means of levitation, I am certain that many of you will think of unconscious patients who need to be moved to the Hospital Wing. Whilst it is theoretically possible to levitate them, this method has fallen out of practice. Any basic first-aid will teach you to not move an injured person unless it is necessary, and the movements of a regular Levitation Charm have been proven to worsen severe injuries. This is where the spell Mobilicorpus can be used. For this spell it is simple. Get your wand out and flick it at the target by reciting the word - Mobilicorpus. It requires medium willpower and requires the maximum concentration you can provide. We must keep one downside in mind that is vital to this spell: it is impossible to overpower a person's physical strength with this spell. If you were to cast Mobilicorpus on me and try and make me move to the classroom door, all it requires for me to break the spell is to consciously decide to move differently.
"It follows then that the main application of Mobilicorpus is in casting on people who are unable to move by themselves, either due to unconsciousness, paralysis, being stunned, or another medical condition. If necessary, the spell will add support to a person's muscular system to make it safe to move them, which makes this charm vital for medical staff. Now, I am going to ask you to practice Mobilicorpus on your classmates. This will require a high amount of trust, and concentration of both the caster and the target. You will need to allow the spell to take hold of you and try not to break its effects. When Mobilicorpus is cast on you, you will notice that you will be floating a few inches above the ground, and you will be moved almost as if you were a puppet with someone pulling on individual strings. It is a bit scary at first, but keep calm and remember that you can always break the spell. Please practice," he made a gesture with his hands to the class as he adjusted his glasses and coughed a little.
"Do you trust me, Freddie?" Camille asked him with a smirk and he gulped rather harshly.
"I know I should but the way you're looking at me makes me think otherwise."
"Don't worry, I'll go easy on you," she teased. She knew that she shouldn't but it was so much fun watching him get all nervous.
"O-okay, but I'm trusting you."
She points her wand at him and says the spell as he slowly lifts up into the air and she has one arm move up rather harshly.
"Oi, watch it," Fred exclaimed from up in the air making some of the other students laugh around them as some watch and others join in.
She goes more slowly with the rest of his limbs and slowly levitates him down on the ground.
"Very good, Ms. Dubois," the part-goblin congratulates the French girl. "Since you aren't in any of the houses, the points will go to Mr. Weasley. Twenty points to Gryffindor."
"Twenty points?" Some of the other students from the other classes groaned and the professor tutted as he shook his head.
"If you want twenty points for your house then do the work like Ms. Dubois did."
"All right, I suppose it's my turn now," Fred told Camille and levitated her up. He was a bit clumsy at first but then got more comfortable with the spell as Camille helped him on what to do.
*
"Er, Professor McGonagall," Camille called her name gently.
"Yes, Ms. Dubois?" She looked up with her glasses perched on her nose as she looked up from the pieces of parchment of homework from students in her Transfiguration class.
"I was wondering if you knew of a professor here who could help me with Animagus?"
"You are studying to become an Animagus?" Professor McGonagall asked, shocked.
"Oui," she nodded her head with a slight smile.
"Are you far in your lessons?"
"Comme ci comme ça (so so)," Professor McGonagall nodded her head in understanding. "Madame Maxine was beginning to teach me more in depth but then we came here. Now, she does not have time."
"How far has she gotten with you?"
"We were going to start with me having a leaf underneath my tongue."
"Very well," she applies a curt nod to her head. "I will help you. I am sure Madame Maxine has already warned you but I want to remind you that if you so much as make one wrong move it can be very detrimental to you and your health. It is very hard to to hold a leaf under your tongue for a month. It takes patience. Determination. Concentration. Strength. Endurance. And lastly motivation. I am also sure that Madame Maxine has told you that whilst we are undergoing training you cannot tell anyone about this to protect yourself. It's fine if you tell people after you have succeeded training and graduated as you will then have to register yourself to the Ministry of Magic as an Animagus. Understand?"
"Oui, professor," she nodded her head with a small smile.
"Excellent," the professor gave the French girl a small smile. "I will fetch a Mandrake leaf but remember we must wait until there is a full moon. Then and only then must you put it under your tongue and keep it there for a month. Whilst it is under your tongue you cannot adjust it. You'll need to find a small crystal phial that receives pure rays of the moon. Once you find that, I'll tell you what you need to do next with the leaf," she told her.
"Oui, professor. I understand. Do you know where I can find a small crystal phial?"
"Yes," Professor McGonagall told the girl. "Diagon Alley has a store called Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment. You'll need about seven Galleons."
"Merci, professor."
Professor McGonagall nodded her head and told the girl that she will come to her when she knows it will be a full moon. The french girl thanked her profusely before she left. Camille was chuffed to bits to finish her studies on Animagus. Professor McGonagall was also thrilled that she finally had a student she could teach Animagus just like Dumbledore had done for her.

I meant to get this up yesterday but I wasn't done yet with the chapter. Were any of you surprised that Camille is wanting to become an Animagus?
What do you think her Animagus will be? I already have somewhat of an idea but I want to hear your guesses :). I figured since she won't be at Hogwarts when Umbridge is there and Harry starts D.A. she won't get to know how to perform a patronus so I figured this was the next best thing!
Also how cute is her friendship with the twins and Hermione? 🥺 Are we surprised at how Ginny is reacting to her? In this book I'm going to do something a little different than J.K. Rowling and having Hermione really fight for the rights of house-elves...not just in school.
