Hail Aquarius

(The suffix -ri is used as a name diminutive, if you have a close bond with someone you can use this suffix, e.g. Roraiyan-Rorari, Aurinko-Aurinri, Leveret-Levri)

This was written before New Solider and takes place a few months after

Roraiyan stood on the edge of the cliff, looking down at the city before her. She was one of the Shi Soldiers, kind of like a kamikaze, but Shi Soldiers' goal was not to die. However they would not take precautions for their life.

Roraiyan scanned the enemy city, Arieya, as it was called, citizens traveled around from building to building, talking to one another, unaware of the group of soldiers watching them.

She turned to her squad, or a flock as they were nicknamed. They all wore mech gear, the metal wrapped around their chests and spread out as wings behind them, metal was attached to their legs too, with hydraulics to help absorb the shock from falls and helmets with tinted visors so you could only see their faces from up close.

Everyone had painted their gear differently, the colors like tropical birds. Birds were a popular theme in their city, their king was a bird, an intelligent one at that.

“Are you all ready?” Roraiyan asked. “Yes ma'am!” The flock chorused. She turned back to Arieya. Taking one last breath as she slid on her helmet. “For Athenya!” She shouted. “Hail Aquarius!” The others yelled as they glided down to the city on their metal wings, weapons brandished.

Roraiyan could still hear the screams echoing in her head. The buildings were ablaze, crops destroyed, everyone was slain, women, children and men. …iyan! a voice echoed. Roraiyan turned around, stumbling, her vision blurring.
…Roraiyan! it echoed again.

Something caught her vision, she looked down and saw that small flames were dancing on her skin, blood dripping from her hands. She was unsure if it was her blood or not.

“Rorari!” The voice shouted. “Rorari!” It shouted again. Roraiyan stumbled backwards. The world shifting around. She was faintly aware of someone grabbing her before she fell. “Roraiyan! Wake up! We won! You ha.. sta.. ake..”

The voice kept echoing and fading as Roraiyan's eyes closed. Darkness pulled at the edges of her mind, her whole body was numb, and she felt so so tired. She became faintly aware she was dying. “H-hail… Aquari…” Roraiyan's voice trailed as she stilled. The last thing she remembered was a faint wail of grief.
