As a young monster, Venn has always wanted to travel all around the underground. His family, though, had his education as a priority so they always had him indoors studying many subjects he never found interesting. Venn considered his life as fine, but not satisfying.
One night teenage Venn was getting ready for his bed time, when his friends snuck into his backyard and invited him to a party. Venn wasn't sure about it but his friends ended up convincing him by bringing up his strict life as boring.
Venn used his slithering ability to sneak out through his window and land safely on the ground. After three hours of partying, Venn was walking to his home by himself through the woods. He heard a weak hiss under a tree. Venn followed the sound and found an injured black snake. Venn quickly but carefully picked up the dying snake and rushed to his home to nurse it back to health. He kept the snake and the party a secret from his parents until it was discovered one day when Venn's mom heard a hissing sound in his room. Venn explained everything to his parents and begged them not to let the snake go, for Venn has grown to love Soso, the snake's new name.
Venn's parents were angry at him for disobeying their rules and descided to take Venn to military school for discipline. It was either that, or releasing Soso.
Four years into military school, Venn continued on his education voluntarily by going to college for history profession. But Venn still wasn't satisfied with his life. After graduation, Venn took necessary things from his parents' house and left to travel the underground with Soso.
One cold evening, Venn was leaving a hiking store when he was attacked by muggers. His experience in military school were taken to his advantage and tried to defend himself. Unfortunately, it was one against two and was almost defeated until Soso began to help Venn by using his slithering and sneaking skills to distract the muggers. Venn finally came out victorios but he was weak and injured. Soso bit Venn's hand but instead of poison, Venn's snake body began to absorb power, skill, and more strength. Venn continued on his travels for the next eleven years until he finally descided to settle down and have a home for his own. He came across Grillby's bar and walked in to get something to eat. He was greeted by Grillby and immediately recognized him as his old college friend. Minutes of reminiscent, Venn mentioned Soso and his previous travels and his plans to settle down. Grillby happily helped Venn get his new home and get a new job as a tour guide. Venn finally lived a life of happiness and satisfaction.
Venn met Amimi at Grillby's bar when Grillby was too busy to take Venn's order during lunch hour. Amimi wasn't impressed with Venn's flirting at all and carried on her duties as Grillby's employee.
When the bar closed, Grillby went to spend some time with Venn and explained about his adopted cousin, leaving out the part of her uncontrollable inner evil.
Venn is now a regular costumer and purposely annoys Amimi for a joke. His crush on her developed overtime.
