::Chapter 2::

My mom wasn't thrilled when she found Ashton cuddled next to me in my bed last night. It's not like we planned to fall asleep wrapped in one another's arms, nope not at all. She made him leave, but not before I pulled him in for a kiss. Glaring at me from my door way, my mom shooed Ashton out of the house and told me I'm lucky she's not grounding me.

"I don't understand Luke," She said, tiredly rubbing at her face. "Why can't you just date someone you're own age? Like, what about the Clifford's son? Michael? You two used to be the best of friends. And don't act like I didn't see you two kiss before they moved."

"I'm not in the mood to discuss Michael." I groaned, throwing the nearest pillow in her general in the doorway.

"We'll talk in the morning."

Sitting down at the table for breakfast I was greeted by an awful glare from my dad. My mom must have mentioned the Ashton incident to him last night or this morning. He was obviously not thrilled by this information.

"Can you not, like, glare at me while I eat my french toast?"

"Not glaring, just thinking about all the chores I can make you do for not following the 'no Ashton after 9pm' rule." My dad stated, before turning his attention back to my mom and the newspaper laying on the table.

"We didn't mean to fall asleep!" I argued.

"That's what they all say."

Rolling my eyes, I pushed my half-eaten breakfast aside and stood up before announcing I was going for a walk to clear my head. But, what I really wanted was to get away from my parents and it was fairly nice outside today. And because I've barely done anything so far this summer, I decided a walk would be good for me. And if I walked far enough out of sight I could call Ashton to come pick me up.

I was halfway down the street when I heard my name being called. Turning around I saw the one and only Michael Clifford running after me.

I quickly sped up my pace, acting like I didn't see nor hear his calls. But my short-lived dreams of avoiding Michael came crashing down when I felt him grip my arm to stop me from walking fast.

When I turned around I expected to see him angry at me, but all I saw was someone who couldn't be more excited to see me. My heart was pounding in my chest, I couldn't figure out if it was from the little exercise I had done or because Michael was loosely gripping my arm.

"Luke! How are you?" Michael let go of my arm and pulled me into a bone crushing hug. "I-I haven't talked to you in so long. I saw you leaving and tried catching up to you before it was too late."

"It's been four years since we last talked." I pulled out of his grip.

"I know it's been so long. But I'm back now! I promised you I'd be back." Michael smiled brightly at me, proud of himself for remembering our promise we made over five years ago. My heart ached at the thought of that day, the day my whole life turned around.

"Like I care about a promise we made when we were eleven." I lied, looking down and my feet, scuffing my shoe on the concrete.

"Oh." Michael was frowning now, clearly not expecting that from me. I wasn't even expecting it, but I was bitter and part of me wanted Michael to feel how I felt for the past few years without him.

"Yeah, well I'm on my way to see my boyfriend..."

"Boyfriend?" Michael questioned, clearly shocked about this new information.

"That's what I said." I said, slightly irritated.

"Okay. I'll see you later?"

"Sure."
