Chapter Two

Marinette stomped up the stairs to her bedroom and flopped on the bed. By now, she had calmed down a little, but she was still shocked by Alya's words.

Someone who actually notices you.

Adrien notices her plenty!

As a friend.

All these thoughts swarmed her mind, and without realizing it, she was crying again.

"Don't cry Marinette." Tikki's cute little high-pitched voice broke Marinette away from her thinking. "Everything's going to be okay, but you shouldn't think negatively. You could get akumatized."

"You're right Tikki." Marinette sat up and shook her head a few times. "Besides, I've got Math homework to do. Those 50 algebra questions aren't going to complete themselves!"

She got down to her homework, with Tikki right beside her and encouraging her whenever she started struggling with one of the questions.

Little did they know, that someone was going to get akumatized very soon, and it wasn't Marinette.

***Meanwhile***

Decked out in a medium length black dress with matching heels, and long auburn hair tumbling over her shoulders, a certain female was quite excited for her very first date.

She checked her phone for any new messages from someone. His name was Sebastian.

There weren't  any messages, so she was all set to leave, when her phone dinged. She fished it out of her purse and saw this:

I'm not feeling too well 2nite so I can't go on the date. Maybe next time. Srry again.

When did her phone suddenly start trembling in her hands? Ms. Bustier didn't know. What she did know was that her boyfriend had basically just stood her up. And over a text message at that!

This was unacceptable. She wanted to be angry, but she just couldn't be. What if he genuinely was sick? She decided to go over to his apartment and find out.

However, she also decided to bring a bowl of his favourite soup along with her, to help him feel better.

She didn't have a car, so she was forced to walk, but she didn't mind. Besides, she was used to walking and it was good exercise and it made so much sense to walk alone at 8:01 in the night, right?!

Sebastian's apartment was a few blocks away. As she neared his apartent she saw something that made her stop dead in her tracks.

Sebastian. With a woman.

And she was kissing him. On the lips.

Sebastian was frozen, eyes wide as the woman kissed him.

Ms. Bustier didn't notice the fact that the woman seemed strikingly familiar, or that Sebastian wasn't even kissing her back. Right then, she didn't care, because she was starting to see red, even as big fat tears rolled down her cheeks.

She dropped the bowl of soup in shock and rage, at exactly the same time that Sebastian pushed the woman away from him. When he noticed that Ms. Bustier was there, though,  he paled.

She whirled around and stomped off, ignoring Sebastian as he called her name.

He lied to me about being sick, she kept thinking. To be with another woman? What does he see in her that I don't have? Am I not pretty enough?

She ducked into an alleyway, sunk to her knees and sobbed. At the time, she really didn't care that the alleyway was dark and secluded and possibly dangerous.

All she cared about right now was about what she had seen. About what Sebastian had done.

He lied to me. He lied to me. He lied to me...

Flutter. Flutter.

That bastard lied to me.

Flap. Flap.

And I HATE liars.

By the time she heard the wings of that evil little butterfly come toward her, it was already too late.
