You'll figure it out

A/n: a bit shorter than usual, but wanted to to a lil Plagg is supportive kind of scenario here.

Sitting on the windowsill looking out to the night sky, Adrien leaned against the wall in his summer pyjamas deep in thought. It was much last his bedtime, his father would be mad if he knew that he was awake this late. But he couldn't stop thinking about something.

A while ago, he'd gone to band practice and it'd started raining so they all went inside. In Lukas room was a flag, one with pink, purple and blue stripes. He knew thanks to his school celebrating pride month that it was the bisexual flag.

He'd always known that there's people out there who fall in love with those who are their own gender. But as a kid he never really asked about it or thought about it, since his father never really seemed to pay attention to those people.

But after finally being let out into the world and going to school, he realised just now many people there were out there that weren't cishet. Many kids at school walked the halls hand in hand with the same gender, and wore pronoun pins, and flags on their backs during pride month. And to him, he never saw anything wrong with it. He knew full well no one can control who they fall in love with. It comes out of nowhere and hits you like a bus, no matter your gender you can fall in love with whoever your brain chooses to.

He didn't bat an eye that Rose and Jueleka were dating, or that Marc and Nathaniel were. It was normal after all, again you can't help who your fall for.

But the reason he'd been thinking about this so much recently is because when he saw that flag in Lukas room, he found himself... exited.

For what reason? He didn't know. But for some reason knowing Luka liked boys made him kind of thrilled. It was like he'd secretly been hoping for it.

"Kid it's like 3am, go to bed"

Adrien didn't pay attention to Plagg, he was lost in his mind.

"Adrien!"

"Hm?" He replied.

"It's late, you've got band practice tomorrow. Plus I wanna go to sleep" Plagg said.

"Go to sleep then"

"Without you? You're my source of heat dude"

Plagg often found his way into Adriens blankets when he got cold, and in the heavily air conditioned house it was easy for such a small creature to get cold even in the summer heat. Plus, he was a cat. A small talking one, but a cat nonetheless. And if there's one thing cats love to do, it's sleep right on top of their owners chest and put all their weight into one paw to crush you with.

"I'll go to bed in a minute" Adrien replied.

"What's got you up so late anyway?" Plagg asked.

"Thinking"

"About?"

"Luka"

Plagg raised an eyebrow... you know if he had them... he raised an eyebrow muscle.

"What about Luka? You've been pondering on him an awful lot recently" Plagg asked.

"Just about... I don't know, everything? I can't wait to see him again. He's so fun and calming to hang out with. I'm glad he let me into the band or I'd never have such a close friend"

"You have lots of friends"

"Lukas different though, he's so... I don't know. But he's different" Adrien explained.

Plagg already caught on, he knew what was up. But he didn't want to rush Adrien into anything or potentially scare him from the path of self discovery. But it was clear as day to the kwami that Adrien had one hell of a crush, he acted the same way when he met ladybug. Looks like it's not just girls on his radar.

"Well... maybe you should tell him about that tomorrow" Plagg suggested, trying to nudge him in the right direction.

"What do you mean?" Adrien replied.

"You know like... tell him how much his friendship means to you. Since it's keeping you up so late"

"Hmm... guess I never really have. Maybe I should..."

He hadn't realised it yet, but Plagg knew he would eventually. All that mattered was that Adrien was happy and comfortable with his identity, and when he figured it out Plagg would be there to help him out as much as he could. He'd seen it in past holders before, self discovery can be scary to someone his age, an especially since he'd been so sheltered his whole life.

"Hey kid" Plagg began.

"Yeah?"

"Just know that no matter what... I've got your back ok?"

"I know, you're my guardian cat at this point. But why the sudden sentiment?" Adrien asked.

Plagg gave him a knowing grin, thinking about how in a while when Adrien realises he'll look back on this moment and understand.

"You'll figure it out, kid"
