Swapped (part 1?)
A/n: the shadybug and claw noir universe implies that Luka is a prep rather than a goth in that universe because Adrien is the emo one. Although Luka strikes me more as a hippy surfer type dude so this oneshot takes place in that universe.
The swell was pretty good today, not too rough but waves tall enough to get a good barrel here and there. It took Luka a bit of wandering up the shore and watching the wave pattern to find the perfect spot, but he found it. He'd already waxed his board before leaving the house(boat) so the only thing he had to do was drop his bag in the sand and strap up his leg rope. Pulling his shirt off and tying his hair back he left everything on the beach and took off into the water.
Usually he was a long border, to him surfing wasn't about competitions or thrill seeking, it was just about cruising and having fun. But recently he'd been craving a bit of a thrill so he got out his short board and started learning some more tricks. This area of the beach wasn't as full, so there was no line up he had to wait in all the waves were his. Although he did notice there seemed to be some kind of event happening a bit further up the beach. A movie shoot? Or a photo shoot? Whatever it was there were cameras and a bunch of people. He made sure to stay out of the way, couldn't imagine they'd appreciate being photo bombed by a blue haired surfer.
Down at that photoshoot was the Agreste company shooting for the new line of swimwear. Several models lined the beach and props were being passed around for the photos. Adrien didn't want to be there at all, it's not that he didn't like the beach. It was he didn't like this prissy modelling bullshit. They'd made him take all his eyeliner off, he looked wrong without it. At least they couldn't force him to take all his piercings out.
He sulked off to the side in the only piece from this line he liked, the black board shorts with the neon green stripe around the hems. Reminded him of his cat alter ego. He'd much rather be off fighting that pathetic 'better-fly' dude right now. At least he'd be doing something productive, sitting around the sand occasionally being called up to pose for the camera wasn't any fun or useful to the world at all. Paying attention to anything but the photoshoot, Adrien looked out at the waves, spotting a surfer out in the water.
Shirtless, long hair tied back into a soaking wet bun, shell choker and seemingly a tattoo on his arm as well. He couldn't tell what it was of from this distance but he sure as hell cold tell this guy was ripped in the arms. All that paddling makes you pretty strong as a surfer. He watched the boy study the incoming waves for a moment, before leaning down onto the board and going for a quickly building wave. Like lightning he popped up, feet landing on the deck and dropped down the lip of the wave into a clean curve down the wave as it rolled in.
He was skilled, Adrien would give him that. He found himself rooting for the guy as the wave began to curl over into a barrel. For a moment, the water crashed over him, but with enough speed gained he managed to outrun the barrel and twist up the wave completely flying off the end and landing almost perfectly if it weren't for a last minute stumble that had him wiping out. So close, damnit.
But, the surfer got back up and paddled back out to wait for the next wave. Admittedly flying off a wave and landing with a splash looked kind of fun, even if he didn't land the trick.
"Adrien"
Rolling his eyes and turned to face the photographer, who wanted him back for another set of pictures.
"We're getting in the water now, come on. And pull your fringe out of your eyes" he said.
Adrien groaned and got up, although there was no way he was moving his emo fringe. The photographers would have to deal with it.
Out on the water, Luka has stopped to look at what the hell was actually going on down on the beach while he waited for the next good wave. He figured it was a photoshoot, and recognised some of the branding as Gabriel stuff. What were the chances he was out on the same day a Gabriel shoot was on? He'd better made extra sure to not get into any of those photos by accident or the very rich and prissy crew would probably go Karen on him.
Although the closer he looked the more re began to recognise the models from billboards over Paris. One of them was Adrien, Gabriel's edgy son. Luka didn't mind the punk look actually, wasn't for him but it looked good on others. His sisters girlfriend was quite goth and she made it work. He was surprised Gabriel even let Adrien keep the emo look despite the company being much more high end, but edgy teens will be edgy teens no matter how hard to you try and stop them.
Cute emo boy aside, he could feel the pull of another wave coming up. He looked over his shoulder at the forming wave, it looked promising. He was about to get ready to catch it when he was started by a sudden siren sounding - the shark siren. Well shit, looks like he's heading in early. Begrudgingly letting the wave pass and missing a really good one, he paddled back in and pulled himself out of the water. The models in the water quickly rushed out as well, chattering on the shore looking for this shark.
Luka dragged his board in, dropping it in the sand and looking out at the waves. Sure enough just off shore was a fin milling about, good thing he came in when he did.
"Well fuck me silly there really is a shark-" he muttered.
"Where? I gotta see this shit"
He jumped hearing the voice beside him, and when he turned he found model boy himself had come looking for said shark too.
"Just out there by the buoy" he replied, pointing out at the fin.
"Oh shit- bigger than I thought. Cool as fuck though, I've never seen a wild shark before..." Adrien said.
"You don't wanna be fucking around with ones that big. Little reef sharks are cool, big ass ones like that will snap your board"
Even with the shark deterrent stickers Luka had on his board, you couldn't be too careful. Putting stickers resembling eyes on the bottom of your board can make a sharks survival instincts kick in because they think the board is a big creepy animal that could eat them. But a shark that big? It wouldn't care.
"You see them often?" Adrien asked.
"Not much around here, but in warmer waters? I've seen a few" Luka replied.
Now they were closer to each other, they could get a better look at each other. Adrien glanced over at Luka, seeing that yes the mark on his arm was a tattoo. Of a snake (that he had done on a trip overseas where the legal tattoo age was 16, not 18). It matched the pattern on his board too. His upper arms were toned and his skin tanned, the hair tie holding his hair back was loosened from being smacked up in the waves and his long hair stuck to his skin from the water that soaked it. Shit- this guy was hot. It was always the long hair hippy surfers that had the best arms Adrien had noticed.
Luka glanced over at Adrien, noticing that despite the undercut his hair was actually pretty long when it was wet and not styled. It covered his face, in a classic emo cut. But it suited him, the contrast of fringe on one side and piercings on the other balanced his features out. Even without the dark eyeliner Adrien was always seen with, his eyes were baggy from a lack of sleep. But somehow, he made it look good.
"Tell you what I'd rather be out there than doing this damn photoshoot. Even with the shark" Adrien sighed.
"Modelling not all it's cracked up to be huh?" Luka replied.
"Yep. Pretty much every rumour you've ever heard about the industry is true"
Most people had come to learn and accept that by now, Luka wasn't surprised. Adrien never seemed into it, everyone had a hunch he just did it because his dad made him.
"Can't say I'm surprised" Luka said.
"I'd much rather be doing something like you're doing, looks fun out there... when there's no threat of a shark" Adrien replied.
"It is, takes a while to get good at reading the waves but it becomes second nature. Maybe you can convince your dad to swap one of your many extra curriculars with surfing"
"... maybe"
That was an idea, one Adrien somehow hadn't thought of yet. Maybe this surfer guy was onto something here, maybe he had the answers Adrien was looking for to a less miserable existence. Either way, he wanted to befriend the hot surfer because even though he wasn't fond of preppy people, he always had a soft spot for the chill long hair dudes with board, surf or skate.
