Muffled music
A/n: maybe just a lil Mari salt, her stalker tendencies need to be called out. And maayybee a lil spicy too. This ended up way longer than intended.
Adrien hadn't been to many high-school parties. His father never let him, but since it was his graduating year Nathalie had managed to get Gabriel to allow some extra outings. It was the last chance Adrien would get to experience these things after all. As long as he came home before midnight and didn't get absolutely shitfaced, he'd be able to attend some parties and concerts without much trouble. And tonight he was at a party being thrown by Rose, to celebrate her recovery from a long running illness she'd had. Now she has the energy and health to go absolutely wild, she was going to.
And because everyone was 17-18 now, there was alcohol. Adrien would admit he'd never really drank much, technically he wasn't allowed to yet being 17, but his birthday was soon so Nathalie told him he could have a little bit as long as he was safe. The most he'd had was the occasional 'can I taste that' sip followed by a cringe at his bitter wine is. But it turns out cider was much sweeter, it was like a fizzy drink, just with alcohol in it. So when he was offered to try a blackcurrant one, he hesitantly took a sip and quick found it was actually pretty good, and took a bottle.
He knew better than to get drunk, but he was a little buzzed. Looks like he was a bit of a lightweight.
The night started pretty normal for a high-school party, talking to friends, listening to music and of course congratulating rose on her recovery. But as the people around him started getting more and more tipsy, it got wilder. Dancing, bad dancing but still- games of just dance involving a lot of stumbling over, some of the duos began to pair off into corners of the house to flirt. Having just gotten his ass beat at just dance by Nino, the reigning champion, Adrien went to the kitchen out of breath and needing a drink. He wasn't going to down a whole other bottle, he'd get smashed. But one cup was fine, so he went for a different flavour this time. Apple, a classic. And it too was pretty good.
"Adrien hey!"
Ah, he knew that voice. He turned to find Luka who'd shown up a little late with Juleka, they'd stopped to get Rose a gift on the way.
"Luka! How long have you been here?" Adrien asked.
"Uhhh like an hour? I got dragged into a guitar riff battle" he laughed.
"Oh that's what the noise was, I was dragged into a just dance battle"
Adrien admittedly had to stop and stare for a moment, Luka and his sister were known to dress up for parties. And he was indeed dressed up, fishnet sleeves under a black ribbed top, loose black pants with chains on the waist, big ass fuck-off throat stomper platforms in black and blue, all his piercings in and eyeliner on. He'd gotten all gothed out, and the platforms made him so much taller than he already was. Adrien was even smaller against him now. And the best part? That top... it has a chest cutout.
Adrien caught himself staring a little too long, forcing his eyes back up to Lukas face.
"I don't think I've seen you in party attire before, always runway stuff or branded casuals" Luka commented.
"Oh yeah, honestly I didn't really know what to wear. I just copied party outfits off Pinterest with what I had" Adrien replied.
"You look good, it's more you"
His cheeks went a little pink at that comment, it was only ever when Luka said he looked good that it actually got to him... as a model he'd heard it a million times but when it was Luka? It hit different. For this outfit he'd pulled out the green and black, cat noir colours. Black pants, green cropped long sleeved top with some cyber style artwork on the front. Some rings and a necklace for accessories, and admittedly his boots were a little boring. He didn't have anything party attire in the shoe department despite all his designer stuff.
"By the way, have you been ok recently? You seem... tense?" Luka asked.
"I mean... I guess? How so?" Adrien replied.
"The other day when we were out with the band and the girls, you seemed on edge"
Ah, he remembered that now. Admittedly he was a bit uncomfortable, he'd overheard a conversation he definitely wasn't meant to hear. About Marinette having a crush on him, he didn't want to upset her or anything but he didn't return the feelings. At first he figured he could just be kind about it and stay friends when she eventually asked, but then the conversation got... invasive. It was like she knew everything about him, from his schedule to the day he said his first words. That whole day he felt like he was being watched, and it had made him a little tense.
"Oh uh... I overheard the girls talking when I probably shouldn't have. It had me a bit... uncomfortable" he replied.
"Oh? What where they talking about?" Luka replied.
"Mar-"
Before he could continue, that same group of girls came into the kitchen, clearly a bit wasted and seeking more drinks. Marinette, Alya, Zoe and Kagami.
"LUUUUKA! You're here too! Look at those tall ass fucking goth boots you tree looking bitch. Stop being taller than me!" Alya exclaimed.
Luka snickered, he did tower over everyone there so a tree was a reasonable comparison.
"Oh gods, Nino's going to have fun carrying you home tonight" Luka laughed.
"Dude I'm not that wasted, like a lil bit. But not blackout... yet"
"Don't get blackout, you and Nino are my ride home" Marinette snickered.
Kagami seemed sober, as would be expected. She was probably the designated mother of the group for the night. She just sighed and shook her head, knowing she'd be dealing with this all night.
"ADRIEEENNN! Your bitchass dad let you out of the man cave for once, look at you all prettied up" Alya commented.
"For once, yes. Freedom is sweet, so is cider" he laughed.
"Dude it's sssoo fucking good"
"I'm going to have to cut you off of the alcohol soon if you keep this up" Kagami cut in, stopping her from pouring way too much.
The group poured their drinks, chattering with everyone who'd come in and out of the kitchen. The conversation started out pretty normal, interspersed with Kagami trying to get all the tipsy people to eat some damn food to stay somewhat sober. Clearly the boys (and Kagami) were the most sober here. Adrien only feeling a slight buzz and Luka handling alcohol way better than everyone else. All they felt was a bit of a haze, but they were still perfectly sane.
But things started taking a turn when it seemed like the alcohol had given Marinette a confidence boost. First Adrien just thought she'd stumbled into him by accident, but after the third time it was clear she was trying to get closer to him. His mind went back to the other day, overhearing the conversation. He didn't really know what to do, he didn't return the feelings but since she wasn't fully sober he didn't know if she'd get the message. Nevertheless he nonchalantly stepped away a little, closer to Luka.
"Luka you remember my birthday party? I've never seen your sister so... loud before" Alya said, the conversation having drifted to other parties they'd had this year.
"Oh man, she was absolutely hammered. I've never seen her have that much confidence before" Luka laughed.
Adrien missed that party unfortunately, but he did see all the videos people took at school the next week. He couldn't believe his eyes seeing the video of quiet little Juleka screaming along to music while standing on a table with Rose, clearly drunk.
"I wonder if we'll get a repeat of that tonight?" Zoe said.
"As funny as it was she was throwing up the next morning so please no" Luka snickered.
"I've never seen you shitfaced before, I'd kill to see what you do" Alya teased.
As Luka explained why he'd never get blackout, mainly to be on the lookout for his sisters well-being, Adrien could feel eyes on him, like he was being watched. And when he glanced over, he noticed he was indeed being watched. Marinette practically having hearts in her eyes as she leaned on the counter looking over at him. Instinctively he shuffled away slightly, getting flashes of that creepy conversation he'd overheard the other day in his mind. He accidentally bumped into Luka a bit, not that he minded. But it did get his attention, and when he looked over he noticed Adrien's discomfort.
He put two and two together pretty quickly, it wasn't hard to tell what was going on from the context he had already. In an attempt to put some distance between the two, he gently grabbed Adrien's waist and pulled him closer. Keeping his arm around the shorter boy. Adrien felt his cheeks burn, but absolutely wasn't complaining. He was so close... so close! He could smell the sea salt permanently etched into Lukas clothes from living on a boat, and he could feel the protective grip on his waist like it burned through him.
For a while, that made him feel better. And when the group eventually moved out to the back yard to play some games and listen to music, he even forgot about it for a bit. Notably though, Luka kept close to him, and he stayed close to Luka.
"Bro you can't even fucking dance while sober I'd like to see you try doing this drunk" Nino roasted.
"Buullshit I'm such a good dancer and you know it" Alix replied.
"You call that dancing? You look like one of those inflatable dudes outside car dealerships"
"Nuh-uh! You dance like a toddler in a jolly jumper. All you do is bounce"
The constant friendly roasting over bad dancing was divulging into a really bad dance battle to what ever song was playing next. They'd gone through multiple rounds with multiple people at this point. Most of the guests were fully drunk by now, the few sober ones regretting their choices knowing they'll have to drag the drunk ones home.
But Adrien and Luka? They stayed relatively sober. Luka has to keep an eye on his sister after all, and Adrien? He was too scared to get shitfaced. If he took a breathalyser right now, they'd probably be able to detect the alcohol, but not enough to arrest him for DUI. A little buzzed, that's all. But maybe the alcohol had him a bit clingy, because he had been stuck to Luka like glue all night by now.
"Dude you should ask him, while you've got the confidence for it"
Adriens attention was caught, he didn't react but he listened in.
"I dunno... what if he-" Marinette began.
"Dude, you'll probably never be this confident again. Ask him! There's plenty of places to sneak off and smooch" Alya replied.
Immediately knowing what was up, he tensed up. Not sure what to do, he glanced over at Luka who'd rolled his eyes at the horrific dancing before him and quickly noticed Adrien's 'help me' eyes. He caught on, seeing the girls talking all whispery and looking over at Adrien.
"Hey can we talk for a moment..." he said, putting his hand on Adriens back to guide him away.
"Yeah, sure" Adrien replied, gladly allowing him.
Luka quickly grabbed his hand and pulled Adrien back into the house. A few people were still inside, but it was quiet enough in the corner by the stairs. Adrien sighed in relief, putting his head on Lukas chest.
"Thank you" he said.
"It's about Mari huh?" Luka replied.
"Yeah, I overheard her and the girls talking about having a a crush on me the other day. At first I thought oh that's fine, I can just be nice about it and we can still be friends. But then it got creepy... she knows literally everything about me. Fuck she probably knows what I ate for breakfast 3 years ago..."
Luka sighed, he knew this would come up eventually. He'd held out hope maybe Kagami or his sister, one of the more sane friends of the girl group would talk some sense into her. But clearly it wasn't working, she was just as obsessed as the day he got dumped by her.
"That alcohol has really given her a confidence boost, she's never normally this touchy and straightforward" Luka said.
"Was she weirdly obsessive when you dated?" Adrien replied.
"With me? No. With you though... I didn't say anything at first because I thought she'd get over the crush the more we dated. But uh... look how that worked out. Fuck, I should have told you she was obsessed sooner. I'm sorry, I guess I was just hoping the girls would knock some sense into her"
Adrien couldn't blame Luka in all honesty, he was her ex and had very complex feelings over the whole situation. The breakup was rough, and he did genuinely love her at one point. Now he was a little unsettled by her...
"It's fine, you were in a weird situation too. But fuck- she's absolutely going to try and make out with me tonight if I don't make it clear the answer is no. Although given the alcohol I don't know if she'd take no for an answer..." Adrien sighed.
As much as Luka didn't want to admit that was a possibility, with his obsessive she was... No may not be in her intoxicated vocabulary.
"Want to leave?" Luka asked.
"No, I never get the chance to go out. I want to at least stay until midnight and see Rose on the way out with you guys. I guess I'll just have to avoid her, I don't want to cause any fights or anything" Adrien replied.
Tricky situation, he didn't want to ruin the party that was meant for another person if a big scene did happen. But he also wanted to make sure he wasn't basically assaulted... Adrien sighed, pulling Luka into a hug.
"Thanks for being my shield earlier, you made me feel a lot safer" he said.
"Don't mention it ok? I don't let that shit slide, no balancing the alcohol on my watch..." Luka replied.
Adrien looked up at him, at his gentle smile and snake bite pierced lips, painted with black lipstick. Maybe it was the buzz from the alcohol... but fuck he wanted to feel those lips places he shouldn't.
Wait what?
As soon as the thought crossed his mind, he felt his cheeks heat up. And thanks to how close they were, Luka noticed.
"You ok? You seem hot. We can go back outside, like out the front rather than the back" Luka asked.
"No no! It's fine it's just... just..." Adrien replied.
It was silent a moment, and thanks to how damn perceptive Luka was, a smirk grew on his lips. He knew, he so knew. He glanced out the open back doors across the room, the girls still talking and occasionally looking over at Adrien.
"You know... I think there is one surefire way to make sure she doesn't even try and kiss you" Luka began.
"Which is?" Adrien replied.
Luka gave him a teasing glare, tilting his head up to face him.
"... you're not subtle. You keep looking at my snakebites with that red face of yours" Luka smirked.
If his face could get redder, it would have. For a moment Adrien was flustered, but then he noticed Luka glance outside again, and he too glanced over his shoulder. The girls were still talking and looking over at him. And maybe thanks to the alcohol, a sudden wave of pettiness and confidence washed over him.
"You know what? Fuck it" he muttered, wrapping his arms around Luka's neck and pulling him in.
Their lips met, with no hesitation or denial from either of them. It was like all this built up tension, years of friendship teetering on the edge of relationship was finally poured out like gasoline on an open flame. Adrien felt Luka's arms grasp around his waist and pull his body up against him. Neither of them cared who was watching, in a weird way they wanted to be seen. Adrien wanted people to know he didn't belong to them, and Luka wanted people to know that the one Adrien DID belong to was him.
The black lipstick Luka wore was smudged onto Adriens lips as they kissed, undoubtedly leaving stains on his skin he'd have to clean up before going home. This was no small peck, they were full on making out in the corner of a house party while muffled music echoed in the background. Adrien couldn't believe the perfect irony when from the next room over, he heard the song switch over to Lana Del Rey's 'be my daddy' as he felt Luka hand snake down his waist and grab his thigh, hitching his leg up around him.
He fucking hoped the girls were watching this...
The kiss broke only for a moment, to catch their breath. Luka smirked down at him, seeing his black lipstick smudged all over Adriens face.
"I think that'll keep the girls off you" he said, voice low husky.
"I'd say so..." Adrien replied.
They glanced over at the door, the shocked and confused faces of the girls and almost angry look Marinette wore made them snicker.
"Maybe I'm just a bit tipsy but this feels surreal" Adrien said.
"You're still sober enough to consent to all this right?" Luka asked.
"I only had one bottle"
"Same, just enough to make this feel a little extra. But level headed enough to remember it tomorrow morning"
Adrien felt Lukas hand half on his thigh, half on his ass give it a squeeze as they met for another kiss.
Out in the back yard, Juleka was quite tipsy and wanted to get Luka to have a dance battle with him. So she stumbled over to the girls, to ask where he was.
"Yo broskis, you seen my dumbass twin?" She asked.
"Uh... over there, think he's busy..." Alya replied, pointing through the door.
Juleka looked up, spotting her brother practically devouring Adrien in the corner of the room. She stared in shock for a moment, before busting out laughing.
"We'll fuck me gently with a chainsaw, didn't see that coming. Sorry Mari looks like your ex stole your man" she snickered once she caught her breath.
"I... don't know how to feel about this..." Marinette replied.
The boys broke their kiss once more, needing air again. The mood had been thoroughly set though, and they could both tell where things were going from the fact their bodies were pressed together and they could feel... everything. Luka wasn't about to destroy Adrien in his sisters girlfriends house though, he had another idea.
"Hey... maybe we should continue where there aren't so many eyes. My car seats can be pushed back..." he suggested.
Adrien gave him a giddy smile, paired with needy eyes and a cheeky giggle. As the music stopped to change over to the next track, there was a moment where all that could be heard was the chatter from outside.
"Fuck, yes please"
