Lavender relationships, something many think is a thing of the past, but was actually still a thing. Just less common than it used to be before when being queer could get you arrested or killed in most countries. A lavender relationship was when a queer person married or dated a straight friend in order to hide the fact they were queer. The friend they married knew, of course, and helped them hide it. They both benefited that way, they could both get the benefits of marriage like higher pay and such, while the queer one stayed hidden. Sometimes, it'd be two queer people of the opposite gender, a gay man and a lesbian BOTH hiding in the same lavender relationship. But most commonly, it was a gay man and a straight woman ally.

That was the situation Adrien found himself in. And it happened kind of my accident. Luckily for him when Kagami grew fond of him and their parents pushed them together for publicly, Kagami understood that she couldn't change the fact Adrien liked boys. But she was willing to go along with the 'relationship' anyway just to get their parents to shut up, and keep Adrien safe. So as far as the public knew, Adrien was straight. Only Kagami knew he wasn't... and Luka. Adrien had no idea how Luka found out, but chalked it up to that man having an amazing gaydar. Luka wasn't about to go and out him though, so he was the only other one who knew and kept it secret. Adrien himself, Kagami and Luka were the only ones who knew the truth... well, Nathalie may have a hunch... but she's not said anything about it.

So when the 'relationship' eventually fell apart due to their parents issues with the brand and Kagami falling for someone else, that made Adrien a single 'straight' guy again. And of course, all the fangirls came out of the woodworks again. His safety net of a lavender relationship was gone, but he wasn't mad at Kagami for it. She deserved to be with who she wanted. It was just rather annoying to have to deal with the media speculating on the 'break up' and all these girls throwing themselves at him again.

And it got even trickier when he and Luka became much more than just friends.

So now he was in a secret relationship with a boy, while the world thought he was straight and his father was likely going to try and make him date some girl for publicity again. Luka was ok with him getting into another lavender situation if that's what was needed, since it's not like Adrien could cheat on him with a girl if he didn't even like them. It was a complicated situation, but Luka being Luka, was understanding as always.

Enter: Marinette.

As if things couldn't get any more complicated and awkward, it turns out Marinette had been thirsting for him for MONTHS. And the whole group knew, and all of them were pushing the two to be together. Marinette... Luka's ex girlfriend... Luka... the guy Adrien was secretly dating.

"What am I even meant to do!? Everyone wants us together, dad will probably encourage it for publicity when he finds out, and even if we set up another lavender situation, SHES OBSESSED WITH ME! There's no way she's going to just go 'oh you like men? Ok I will promptly loose all feelings for you!' Uggghh... why can things never just be normal for me" Adrien complained, pacing back and fourth atop the roof of the biggest office building in Paris.

Luka, having been dragged up there via Cat Noir to talk in private, simply sighed.

"Because you're cursed with the spotlight I'm afraid honey" he replied.

"I hate this. I just want to be OUT, accepted and far, far away from the spotlight"

"I know hun..."

Luka often used his dating Cat Noir privileges to get to high up and quiet places, simply to leave graffiti tags behind for some other thrill seeker artist to find later. He never got caught when it was Adrien-Noir escorting him up to these hard to reach places. So while Adrien rambled ams ranted, getting it all off his chest, Luka was listening and painting. On the inner wall of the rooftops safety rails, he coloured in the tag teal and blue with DIY mop paint pens.

"And she's your ex... that's so... awkward. I'd feel bad, even if I don't actually love her, having to say that when I've just come from a night at your place feels... wrong. And I don't want to have to kiss her! Kagami was cool, she didn't make me. And because she's so introverted anyway people just assumed she wasn't into PDA and didn't question why we never kissed? But Marinette? I don't want to one, kiss a girl. Two, kiss a girl I don't like. Three, kiss a girl I don't like who's my secret boyfriend's ex. And four KISS A GIRL I DON'T LIKE WHOSE MY SECRET BOYFRIENDS EX, RIGHT AFTER I GET DONE SUCKING SAID BOYFRIENDS DICK!" Adrien ranted.

Luka couldn't help but laugh at that last part. It did sound rather awkward, he wasn't sure he'd like that scenario either. Given he and Mari never even got that far.

"Plus... I'd feel like I'm cheating on you" Adrien added.

"It's... complicated. I don't mind you being in a lavender relationship for your own safety, and I trust you completely to not cheat. I mean, it's a girl, you're not even into that. But... yeah, I don't know if I like the idea of you kissing the ex that emotionally destroyed me" Luka replied.

Adrien sighed in frustration again, coming to sit beside Luka and picked up a pen to add his own touches to the tag.

"Careful, can't have people knowing Cat Noir is ok with vandalism" Luka teased.

"Funny how as Cat Noir, I have to worry about being spotted helping you tag places rather than being spotted kissing you" Adrien replied.

No one would care if Cat Noir was kissing men, in fact he'd probably get praised for it. Aside from the odd homophobe and angry Ladynoir shippers. But they didn't know his true identity, so it didn't affect him. Sometimes he wanted to just pull Luka onto live TV and make out with him as Cat Noir, so at least SOME part of him could be out and authentic. But for the viewers sake, best not do that. It'd probably get a bit too handsy for the kids who happened to be watching TV with their parents over dinner to be seeing.

"Whatever happens, I love you. I trust you, I support you" Luka assured, leaning over to place a kiss on the catboys cheek.

Adrien gave him a smile, returning the kiss with one on the lips.

"I love you too..." he muttered.

"We'll figure something out, you might have to pretend to like girls for a little longer but you and I both know the truth now don't we?" Luka assured.

"I couldn't deny the truth even if I wanted to, not after the way you had me over the weekend"

"Now imagine if people knew about THAT. Scandals on the front pages"

Adrien snickered, sometimes the thought of such stupid headlines regarding him made him rather amused. While it was best not to go about making those headlines a reality, it was always something to laugh together about. 'Male model caught in the act with rock stars son' would make a good song title too actually, now that Luka thought about it.
