Have you seen this boy? (Part 4)

PTSD. That was the verdict. Which... yeah, he knew that even before all this happened.

As boring as being stuck in a hospital room was, it was so much better than that... prison. And Adrien had been in bed for the past week, having gone from total isolation to having a doctor with him every hour or so. At the top of his list of diagnoses was PTSD, as apparently within the first night out of his capture, he'd been switching from total dissociation to emotionally wreck. It was clear symptoms, and no was was surprised. He honestly didn't remember much of that first day.

He'd also been deemed malnourished, which he expected anyway. Had some internal bruising and fractures from all the beatings, which explained the pain. He was lucky to have been found, because any longer in that condition and he could have been at serious risk for death. After some intensive treatments the first few days, he was stable and in recovery.

The only people who'd been allowed to see him so far aside from hospital staff were the police who came to get a statement from him, and Nathalie as she was his only legal guardian. The absolute relief she felt when the doctors finally let her in, it was overwhelming. She wanted to hug him as tight as her chronically ill body would let her, although she stayed mindful of his condition and settled on a gentle mum hug. Adrien was beyond relived to see her too, in tears and begging her not to leave him.

No one wanted to stress him out while he was recovering, so Nathalie was taking all the legal stuff on herself on his behalf, with his best interest in mind. She was all he had left, with no mother, arrested father and only other family over in England. But if he was going to have to be in anyones custody, he was glad it was Nathalie.

Luka had been waiting with intense anticipation for when he'd be allowed to see Adrien again. It was him who finally connected all the dots thanks to Nathalie's help. Knowing what he was told by her about the hawkmoth situation, it dawned on him that Gabriel would have absolutely wiped his security cameras of him and Adrien leaving the house that night.

But the neighbouring houses? He couldn't do anything to their security cameras.

And sure enough, his car was spotted on several of the neighbouring houses security systems driving past at midnight. His car was caught on cameras leaving the city and coming back to the city, Paris had night life, so many shops and restaurants had security cameras running all night too. Using a collection of house and shop security systems, the police were able to track the movements of Gabriel's car on the night Adrien disappeared. And Luka was the one who got the credit for realising no one had checked neighbourhood security footage yet.

From there, they were able to watch the area for Gabriel's moments when he thought no one was around, saw him coming and going from the same property. That property? It was in the Agreste name, a house belonging to a late family member that went to Gabriel. That's where they found Adrien, in the basement of that empty house.

If it weren't for Nathalie and Luka teaming up, Nathalie trusting Luka with the hawkmoth secret, and Luka realising that a super villain wouldn't risk his own cameras picking things up... who knows what could have happened to Adrien.

But finally, the hospital was allowing visitors from family and close friends since Adrien was stable enough to handle it all now. And Luka was the first person he requested. If it wasn't a bad idea to run inside a hospital where injured people were walking about, Luka would have been booking it down the halls to Adrien's room. He wanted to get there as soon as possible, but not so early he'd wake up Adrien who needed rest at this time. So he left the house midday, practically buzzing with anticipation to see him again.

When he was directed to the ward Adrien was in, he had to refrain himself from rushing to the doors. But he couldn't refrain his frantic knocking on the door.

Hearing his voice again was like hearing angels sing, a simple 'come in' was worth more than gold to Luka in that moment.

For a moment they simply stared at each other, taking in the feeling of finally seeing each other again. Adrien looked a wreck, covered in bruises and bandages, hair overgrown and pulled back out of his face. But he light in his eyes kept him just as gorgeous as the day he disappeared. Luka rushed up to him, scrambling onto the bed and diving into his arms, Adrien's grip on him was right despite his injured state, never wanting to let him go.

"Oh my fucking gods- Adrien... you have no idea how badly I wanted to see you..." Luka said, trying to hold himself together.

"I missed you Luka..." Adrien replied, relief in his voice.

That was what broke him, finally had Luka in tears. He'd held them in the entire time Adrien was missing, he'd been so focused on finding him and getting him justice he didn't have the chance to cry. But now he knew Adrien would be ok, that he was holding the boy in his arms again, he finally was able to cry. He didn't want to, he felt like he had nothing to cry about. He wasn't the one who was kidnapped and tortured. But Adrien simply let him cry, and teared up himself.

"I missed you..." he muttered again, pulling Luka in as close as he could.

"I missed you too, I was worried sick" Luka sniffled.

"I wanted to see you as soon as possible, the doctors said I needed my fractures treated first"

Luka had been getting updates from Nathalie, he knew the extent of Adrien's condition, but actually hearing him say it felt like a gut punch.

"Fucking Christ Adrien- are you... well, as ok as you can be?" Luka asked.

Adrien just smiled, despite all he'd been though, he was still smiling at Luka.

"I'm going to be perfectly fine now you're here" Adrien replied.

Luka smiled, wiping the tears from his eyes on his jacket sleeves. He wondered how even in such a wrecked state, Adrien had the strength to smile. He'd always been strong, resilient. But the fact he could smile through the pain, trauma and the probably rather painful massive bruises on his cheek, proved that Adrien truly was the gods strongest soldier.

"By the way... I got you something" Luka spoke up, taking his bag off his shoulder to open it up.

"You don't hav-" Adrien began.

"I knew you'd say that but too bad, I'm giving you things. That's just what you do when someone you care about is in hospital... plus, when I saw it I couldn't not..." Luka replied.

From his bag, he pulled out a fluffy black cat, a heat pack stuffie. To help ease the pain of all his aching muscles, and keep him grounded with the extra weight the microwaveable filling added. Around its neck a green bow, and on his head, a sleeping cap. It was so Adrien, Luka couldn't just walk past it and not get it for him.

Adrien smiled, already very much enjoying the weighted feeling of the cat resting on his chest. A warm, weighed stuffie to hug would absolutely be helping him sleep though the aches while he recovered.

"Gods I love you... thank you" he said.

"I... l-look I didn't know if I should bring this up now. Since you're still recovering and I don't want to add any stress or anything but... when you were gone I felt like... I'd lost the person that meant the most to me. And I regretted not telling you sooner, I was worried I'd never get to-" Luka began, only to have Adrien gently grab his arm to stop him.

"I know. I... had the same kind of feeling. I missed you the most along with Nathalie of course. But for a completely different reason to her... I was worried I'd die without ever getting to tell you... just how much you mean to me. How much I love you..."

The fear they'd had over loosing each other forever was genuine, and the relief and closure they now had knowing their feelings were mutual and finally being able to express them was all the conformation they needed that yes, they could finally give into the urge to simply be close to one another in that special, intimate way you can only experience with someone you truly love.

So finally, they kissed. After who knows how long of wishing they could, being almost torn apart for good, and no longer wanting to waste any time. The kiss was gentle, Luka mindful of the bruises on Adrien's face. But it felt like a million fire works going off and lighting up the night sky with a panting of colour and light.

When the kiss broke, Adrien simply pulled Luka further into the bed, wanting to cuddle up to him. Luka was quick to gladly oblige, kicking his shoes off and laying down next to him. Gently tracing his cheek with the tips of his fingers, holding him close.

"You saved my life you know? Figuring out how to find me" Adrien smiled.

"I wasn't the one to kicked the door in to free you" Luka replied.

"But that door would never have opened if you didn't connect the dots. You're the reason I'm here, I can never thank you enough for that. No amount of kisses and I love you's would express how much I appreciate you never giving up on me"

The past few months had been hectic, traumatic, scary, uncertain. Adrien came so close to death, and Luka so close to loosing the person he loved the most. But one thing was for sure, as long as he had Adrien back in his arms now, he was never going to be put through that hell again. Not if Luka had anything to say about it.
