Cat and the DILF (alternative ver)
A/n: had an idea on a different way to take this oneshot mini series, so this is kind of like an alternative version to the events after part 3.
It didn't take long for Rhythm to realise what was going on with her dad. That night she saw him kiss Cat Noir she was secretly hoping things would turn out like this anyway, Cat Noir was her favourite superhero, of course she'd want him to be her other dad! And when they sat her down explained that she had to keep a really big secret, Cat Noirs real identity, she knew then and there she had another dad.
Despite her slight developmental delay due to her autism, she did understand the reason the superhero's had to wear masks, for safety. She herself almost got swept up in the akuma attack that lead her to Cat Noir anyway, she knew it was scary and dangerous if Hawkmoth knew who you were. So she kept her lips tightly sealed, if her friends asked who the blonde dropping her off at school was, she told them 'my other dad Adrien' NOT 'Cat Noir'. Now she just needed her mum to find a girlfriend, then she could have two dads AND two mums. Not long after her dads sat her down and explained to her what was going on with them, she was being told she could pick the colour of the walls in her new bedroom, because they were going to move in with Adrien as his house was much bigger than the apartment she and Luka currently lived with.
Typically change can be scary and overwhelming for someone autistic, so Luka was a bit scared about so much going on at once. Rhythm starting school, moving house and having a new dad in such a short amount of time was a lot of change for a young, autistic child. But Adrien was like a damn autism wizard, he just knew what to do and when to do it. He kept her calm, helped her through it all, Luka was floored how well it all went. But it only solidified his trust in Adrien, if he was THAT good with his daughter and cared so much even though they weren't blood related, he knew Adrien was the one.
In her new pink and purple bedroom covered with posters and toys related to her special interest, Rhythm lay snuggled up in bed listening to Adrien read to her. Usually Luka was the bedtime story parent, but having to take a phone call, the job was Adrien's tonight. Luka didn't want to disturb them when he got off the phone, he simply stood in the hall and watched. There were a lot of emotions in him recently, amongst the nerves regarding his daughter's first year of school and moving houses with her, there was so much love. Watching Adrien read to his daughter as she drifted off leaning against his arm, listening to Adrien do his best story telling voices to make her laugh, his heart was so full it threatened to burst. This was it, Adrien was the man he'd end up marrying, he could already tell. It was still too early in the relationship for that yet, but he knew in a few years he'd be on one knee with a ring, and listening to Rhythm scream in excitement when she found out she'd be a flower girl.
As Adrien finished up the book, Rhythm was just about to slip into sleep. He closed the book, setting it aside on the bedside table next to the night light that was kept on each night. He gently shifted her off his arm and tucked her in.
"I'll see you in the morning ok? Goodnight kitten" Adrien muttered, using the nickname they'd started using.
Before she knew Adrien's real name, she'd always call him kitty. And in return, Adrien would call her a little kitten. He was the mama cat, she was the tiny kitten snuggled up with her parent.
"Ni ni dada..." She muttered, half asleep.
It still felt so surreal, being called a dad. Adrien knew since he was a teenager he wanted kids, but he was always terrified of becoming his father... hearing a child he cared for call him, a dad? Man that made his heart twinge and his eyes threaten to well up. It was only in the past few day Rhythm had started calling him by parental terms, now she and Luka lived with Adrien it felt offical to her. Adrien was her dad, just as much as Luka was. Adrien left her to sleep, not closing the door the whole way just in case she needed to get up in the night for something. He found Luka in the hall waiting for him, an adoring look on his face and immediately reaching out to pull him into a hug.
"Gods I love you..." he smiled.
"Spying on story time are you?" Adrien replied, accepting the hug and feeling Luka press a kiss to his cheek.
"You treat her so well, makes me want to cry..."
"I still can't believe I'm dad to her now..."
Luka had been there when she first said it, to not get them mixed up when they were together, she'd decided to differentiate them by calling Luka simply dad or dada, and Adrien 'kitty dad'. The look of stunned amusement on Adrien's face when she said those words made Luka's heart melt to goo, he looked so exited, so in love with the idea of being a dad.
"Oh you're in deep now, you're kitty dad to her forever. You better not ever leave me, you'll be leaving her to" Luka chuckled.
"I could never, you're stuck with me. You're the only one that soothes my screaming daddy issues" Adrien replied.
"You crave the sound of a man telling you that they're proud of you huh?"
Adrien gave him a playful glare and gentle kick for that one, absolutely reading him to filth with zero effort.
"Shut up" he said.
"I am proud of you though, genuinely. Parenting is hard, especially when the step parent dynamic can be difficult to master. The fact she sees you as dad already means you're doing really well. She loves you, and so do I. I genuinely am proud of you Adrien" Luka replied.
Oof, right in the heart. Adrien smiled, eyes threatening to well up and gave his boyfriend a tight squeeze.
"I love you..." he said, adoration in his tone.
"I love you too... kitty dad" Luka chuckled.
"I promise you I'll treat her well, I refuse to become my father... I can't put her, or you, through that. She's already got a life of difficulties ahead being autistic, I'm not going to make it worse"
"You're nothing like your father Adrien. I know you'll do well, you're already doing great. I trust her with you entirely, it's because of you we can handle her symptoms so much better in such a short amount of time. I don't know what it is about me that keeps attracting neurodivergent people but on top of you, my own kid and my whole high school friend group-"
Adrien laughed, that was definitely the truth. Something about Luka just drew neurodivergent people to him like moths to a flame. Maybe it was his understanding nature, calm voice that was sensory heaven, or endless support, but whatever it was, it was alluring to people like Adrien.
"You know it's genetic, neurodiversity. So she'd have inherited it from someone on your side or your mums side of the family" Adrien said.
Adrien himself had no idea who he got it from, he assumed his mothers side given he knew his fathers side was nothing like him.
"Huh... well my mum did have some issues with me paying attention as a kid..." Luka pondered.
"Inattentive ADHD?" Adrien replied.
"Maybe... damn now you have me questioning my own genes"
"Hey, your daughter in there had to have gotten it from someone. She's half you, formed from your juices"
"Ew don't say it like that!" Luka laughed.
Adrien snickered, not above a bad joke like that. Blame his inner Cat Noir, it was that side of him that really thrived on shitty puns and bad jokes.
"Keep the shitty jokes up and you won't be getting my juices" Luka teased.
"Wait no I'm sorry- I'll stop" Adrien replied.
Luka rolled his eyes, typical, played right into his hands. With their humour of teenage boys, it was hard to believe they were grown men with a child sometimes. But they were, and they were damn good at it. Especially now they had each other to help each other out, carry the weight of raising a child evenly. Luka had no doubts that with Adrien as the second father, Rhythm would grow into a strong, hilarious, selfless girl with dreams of becoming a hero just like her new dad.
