Chapter 5 Trying to Get My Girl Back, Isn't Easy

Luka sighed. He had to find a way to get Marinette back. It would be hard work. He had to because life without her was not an option. She was his life. He shook his head.

He confronted his boss who was unreasonable as usual. "You do as I say, or you are fired!"

"You can't fire me, but I have you know Marinette dumped me." Luka blurted out. He grabbed up the stapler as he spoke. "Good riddance she made you soft, and you didn't need that girl holding you back. Chelsea is crazy about you. She is my daughter, and she is better suited for you."  The boss argued. "Marinette is the one I love and you are not in charge of my love life. You try to come between us again, and I will kill you." Luka remarked. The security guards escorted him out as he dropped the stapler and yelled, "This is not over, you hear me!"

Luka got in the car and drove off.  He could not believe his boss. Ugh, it was because he was obedient to his boss at every beck and call, he was in this mess. Chelsea was upset with him, Marinette had broken it off, and he was livid.

As he drove, another person arrived it was Chelsea that time. She entered her father's office. She saw that he was too busy to talk. "Father, I am not a little girl anymore. I am a grown woman. I have needs, but it is up to me to choose who to be with not you.  Luka is right you have tried to get us to compromise who we are for what, some crummy job?  You are not the father I thought you were, and I quit."

"Quit, you can't quit. You will never find another job, I will see to it you don't if you walk away."  The boss sneered. "I am walking away and you can't stop me." She said. He reached out and grabbed her arm. "Ouch, that hurts, let go of my arm. Stop, you are the reason mom left, so let go of me." She yelled.

He refused to let go. He continued to mock her. She couldn't stand the pressure anymore. She picked up a bookend and slammed it hard against his head. To her horror, she saw a bruise form on his forehead and some blood.  It was way too much blood.

"Ah, what have I done!" She gasped. She ran off.

Later the cleaning lady came by and saw the dead boy, She shook her head in dismay. Sure the man was wicked, but he didn't deserve this. She called the police.

Meanwhile, Luka was still driving his car.  Chelsea walked back to her place. She had walked there because her car had broken down again. She was always doing that since she could not afford a new car.  She went to her room and took a nap. She was still in shock about what happened when she woke up.

Marinette heard a siren. She wondered what happened.  It didn't take long before she found out. A few days later, she saw Luka on the news but this time he was under arrest for the murder of his boss. She shook her head. There was no way he did it. Not Luka, he could not kill anyone.

Chelsea saw the news footage too. She wasn't sure what to do. Should she come forward to clear Luka's name even though it would mean she had to confess it was her to blame? She had killed her father. It was an accident, she had not meant to kill him. She was just so angry.

Marinette drove to the station and spoke to Luka. "Luka, what happened?"  She listened as Luka told her what went down between him and his boss on the day of the murder. She was shocked and felt tears fall. She should have believed Luka. She should have known he hadn't agreed to his boss's stupid ideas. "I am sorry, I shouldn't have broken off our engagement. I intend to stand by your side no matter what, I promise.

Luka smiled. It was a start, his girl came to see him. Maybe that meant there was hope for them yet. He only hoped his lawyer could get him off. He was innocent.

The story continues in Chapter 6
