LUCKY.

" i mean—compared to me? cassie's, like, stupidly lucky. she's beautiful, everyone likes her, everyone knows her—and then there's me, the guy who trips over air and thinks complimenting her binder tabs is flirting. we don't fit. not even a little . "

" well...opposites attract ? "

" no, scott. opposites don't always attract, okay? sometimes they repel. like, violently. like magnets when you try to push the wrong ends together, and it's all—'nope, get away from me.' that's me and cassie. full-blown magnetic rejection . "

PERFECTIONISM. Cassie Montgomery lived by one rule: perfection. It wasn't a choice, but a necessity. Some called her a control freak; her mother dismissed it with a casual, "Don't stress about it, Cassie—it's just your OCPD." But perfection wasn't just a quirk. It was her compass. Every morning since eighth grade, at exactly 8:00 p.m., she planned her outfit for the next day. If she was even a minute late, it threw her entire night into chaos. Her life was structured, down to the smallest detail.

   Her future? Flawlessly mapped out.

She was going to be a fashion designer—a name people would whisper with awe in glossy industry circles. Her backup plan (not that she needed one) was to become an author. She excelled at two things: clothing and writing. Every dream, every goal, fit neatly into her plan.

She even had the rest of her life planned: two kids, a big, modern house far from Beacon Hills, and, of course, Kyle Roche—her current and only boyfriend since sixth grade—standing at the end of the aisle. Kyle was her first everything: her first love, her first kiss, her first draft of what a husband should be. While he played the role of the protective lacrosse star, she called all the shots. Cassie knew he wasn't perfect—everyone else said he could be a jerk—but he was perfect for her. Or so she believed.

It was their dynamic. He stayed steady, unbothered, while Cassie handled the storm.

Her world was carefully curated: a small but powerful clique that practically ruled the school. Double dates, gossip sessions, and status-building. The "It Couples"—Kyle and Cassie, Jackson and Lydia. Cassie and Lydia had been best friends since elementary school. Together, they were unstoppable. Lydia was the calculating, razor-sharp redhead; Cassie was the seemingly sweet, bubbly blonde. But appearances were deceiving. Beneath the surface, Cassie wasn't as bright as her smile suggested. She had her edges.

They'd planned their rise to the top.

Their strategy? Dumb themselves down. Hide the brains. Embrace the stereotype everyone envied. By freshman year, they were already on top, their names whispered in locker-lined hallways. But even as they played their parts, Cassie's need for control never faltered.

"You think they actually like us?" Cassie asked one night, twirling her hair as she leaned against the sink in Lydia's bathroom.

"They don't have to like us," Lydia said, adjusting the curl in her hair. "They just have to want to be with us and.. us."

Behind the perfect image, Cassie wrestled with the cracks. Her need to control everything didn't stop at her planner or her future. It bled into her relationships. Into her sanity. She told herself that perfection would hold it all together. That as long as she looked the part, everything would stay intact.

But perfection is a fragile thing. And Cassie? She was starting to notice the cracks.

The cracks started with a werewolf, Scott Mccall and end with Stiles Stilinski.
