Rio is an introvert but another side comes out when she is around those she is close to.

Rio had grown up in the Miyagi prefecture after her brother had finished high school where she and her family moved to the Nerima Ward of Tokyo in Japan at the age of 11. She was introduced to Tanaka when her brother took her to hang out with Saeko and Ryu. The two seemed to click instantly, she always insisted that they could play together.

At the age of 13 she started to get into Figure skating and started taking private lessons. A year later she got her first medal in pair figure skating with Yoshio and it took off after that. She later decided to become the Nekoma's male volleyball team's manager, she did not regret that decision at all.
