Chapter twenty-five

When Ryder and Andrea got back at school, they had satisfied look on their faces because of the meal they just had. Andrea's stomach was aching due to eating too much fast food. But nevertheless, she was content.

"So..." Andrea started when Ryder pulled over and parked his car on the parking lot. "Thanks for lunch."

"Don't mention it." Ryder said as they fell into a comfortable silence. Andrea had mixed feelings. She didn't know if she and Ryder were still friends or more than that. She didn't know if he felt the same way as her. She didn't know what they were or where they stand.

"Ry." She suddenly said as he turned his attention back at her.

"Mhmm?"

"What are we?" She asked, she knew she had to know.

"Humans?..." Ryder answered but it sounded more like a question.

"No, I mean - I mean... Where do we stand now? Are we friends? More than friends? Or nothing changed? I just - I need to know." She mumbled as if she had no idea what she was saying.

Ryder shrugged and thought about it. "I don't really know. I don't wanna pressure you or anything. You decide, do you want to be with me?" He asked sheepishly rubbing the nape of his neck.

"I - I don't know..." She muttered truthfully bowing her head.

"Hey." He said as he hooked his index finger under her chin and lifted it up to meet her eyes. "No pressure. When you're ready, then we can be together." He said as he pecked her lips and resting his forehead to hers.

Andrea felt the electricity united her body as he kissed her. It seemed like he kissed her for minutes but it had only been a second. She felt the tingling sensation course through her body and sparks flew. Indeed, it was the best feeling.

"Let's go back to class." He suggested pulling away from her as he took the key out of the key hole and slip out of the car. He quickly jogged to the other side and opened the door for Andrea. "M'lady?" He said with a British accent as he placed his hand in front of her.

Andrea laughed from his silliness and placed her hands on the top of his as she got out of the car. "Why, thank you my lord." She said acting all formal like him.

"Shall we go to class?" Ryder continued earning another giggle from Andrea as she looped her arm around his.

"You're crazy." She chuckled.

"Only for you, loves. Only for you." He said as they walked to the side doors of the school.

Steven was eating lunch when he suddenly hear a familiar, lovely voice. He glanced around the cafeteria until his eyes landed on a certain blonde hair. His heart fluttered right away as he saw her laughing in delight.

She was here and he didn't know if he should be happy or not. He just hoped that Ryder wasn't here or he'll be getting it again.

Rina, suddenly feeling that she'd being watch, looked over her shoulder finding Steven staring at her from the other side of the room. She shot him a smile and he smiled in return.

Steven thought that it might not be a good idea talking to Rina, so right when she turned around to talk to her friends, he quickly walked to the cafeteria doors and made his way out. He didn't need to be told by Ryder again. It was bad enough that he and his ex-bestfriend were in bad terms.

When Rina turned back to her friends she knew that they saw her looking at Steven. "Guys." She started sheepishly biting her lip. "Is it okay if I talk to Steven? He's still a friend of mine and I hope you understand that." She stated trying to convince them if she could have a chat with him.

"Hey, you go right away. We're not going to tell your twin so you have nothing to worry about." Katie said shooing her away as the rest of her friends nodded in agreement.

But when she turned around expecting Steven to be there where he were standing before, he wasn't. She felt disappointed. He would he leave without even saying hello or goodbye.

Rina looked back to her friends with furrowed eyebrows. She gave them a questioned look hoping that they knew where we went. Liam sighed and pointed towards the cafeteria doors.

"Thanks guys." She said as she took a grape from Katie's plate and made her way outside.

"Hey! Not my grapes!" Katie hissed before she was out of the room as Rina chuckled in amusement.

Rina looked on both ways and decide to take a left. 'If I were Steven, where would I be?' She thought for a moment until she got an answer.

She practically ran outside and she saw the soccer team practicing on the fields. She scanned the place as her eyes landed on a too familiar spiky, brown hair. He was sitting under the shade of a tree eating while reading a book.

She quietly made her way to where he was and stood beside him. "Do you mind if I join you?" She asked as Steven looked up in astonishment. He didn't think she would find him. He shook his head in response as she took a seat beside him.

He returned back to his book trying to ignore her. He didn't want the repeat of last night. He couldn't try to kiss her again or everything might change between the two of them. He just couldn't control himself when he was around her.

"Are you ignoring me? Did I do something wrong?" She asked as pain laced through her voice.

Steven quickly looked up to her and he could see the hurt flashing through her eyes. He just wanted to hug her and hold her close to him.

"You didn't do anything wrong, Rina. It's just that - I mean - I..." He tried explaining but ended up stuttering.

"It's Ryder, isn't it?" She asked.

"I just don't wanna anger him. It's bad enough he hates me, I don't want him to think that I'm trying to steal you away from him. Besides, I know that you and him would argue about me and I don't want that, Rina. I don't want you to fight. You're siblings, twins, best friends. I just don't want to ruin your relationship." He explained as tears pooled in Rina's eyes.

"He knows how important you are to me, Steve. He knows that you're my rock. The least that he can do is make up and befriend you again."

"It's not that easy, Rina. A lot of things has changed. Over the years, Ryder and I just grew apart. I know you want us to make up and hope that everything will go back to the way it were before. I want that too, shortcake, but I don't know if there's a chance." He said as she smiled at the mention of the nickname he gave her when they were little.

"Will you at least try?" She begged tears prickled in her eyes. "Just try to talk to him and make up. Please!" She pleaded as a tear dropped to her cheek.

"I promise I will." He said wiping the tear with his thumb and pulling her to his arms. She rested her head on his chest and she couldn't help but feel comfortable and cozy under his touch. Her stomach somersaulted when she felt Steven's lips on her forehead and she knew he kissed her. He always did it to comfort her but now, it felt different. But in a good way.

Steven knew he loved her, but he couldn't tell her that or it might ruin their friendship.
