Chapter forty

Chapter forty

"You're really not gonna tell me what happened, are you?" Rina, once again, asked a very annoyed Scott. He let out a frustrated breath and walked away from her.

"No, Rina. So just go away, please." Scott begged through gritted teeth.

"I can't just let this go, Scott. You and Ryder have been best friends since diaper years. C'mon Scott, please, just tell me what really happened!" She persistently asked.

"This isn't about you, Rina. And you shouldn't get involve." He said shoving his books in his locker as Rina stood behind him.

"This is about my brother, I know that. But please, just tell me. I need to know, Scott. For the sake of the well-being of my twin!" She exasperately exclaimed.

"Just cut it out." Scott muttered in a low murderous voice and shut the door of his locker with a loud thump. Rina then knew that it was time to let it go. She let out a sigh and stopped talking.

"Scott." A familiar voice echoed through the empty hallway. Both Rina and Scott's heads turned towards the direction of the voice, and there standing was Steven.

"Steve, I need to talk to you." Scott informed him.

"Oh, so he gets to know what happened but not me?!" Rina exploded in anger. She clutched her hand into a fist and glared at Scott. She was so ready to attack and kill him. She had been bugging him about what happened since yesterday, but he would always ignore her calls or dutched her when she arrived to school this morning to talk to the Principal about Ryder's condition. She didn't wanna find out what happened because she was simply curious, but she could feel that her twin was in trouble. A BIG trouble.

"I'm doing this for your own safety, Rina. Please, just leave it alone." Scott softly said and his eyes softened. Rina saw the look in his eyes and she knew he was only trying to protect her. He didn't wanna tell her because he knew it was for her own benefit.

"I'm sorry." She apologized for her persistent behaviour. "I'm just worried, I've never seen Ryder so angry in his entire life and I don't want what happened between Steven and Ryder happen to you and Ryder, Scott. Please try to understand my situation. It's also not helping that my twin instinct is kicking in saying that Ryder is in deep trouble. You have no idea how long it has been bugging me." She said confessing her true emotions.

"Please, Rina. This is for your own good." Scott stated and Rina knew it was final. He wasn't going to caved in and tell her what had happened. "Let's go, Steven." He said as he started making his way outside.

"I'll call you later." Steven told Rina as she nodded in reply. Steven looked warily at her then begun jogging to catch up with Scott who was already by the school doors.

"What's happening, Scott?" Steven asked him when they were in the alley at the back of the school. The place was empty and dark. The only source of light was the sunlight seeping through the entrance of the alleyway.

"Ryder's in trouble and I need your help." Scott said with begging eyes. Steven then knew that it was something serious.

"What'd he do this time?" Steven questioned coldly trying to hide the concern tone in his voice.

"He messed up big time. They're up to get him, Steve. And I know that soon, they're up to get his friends and family."

"Rina." Steven whispered. There was a moment of silence between them as Steven tried to think of possible ideas of what Ryder did this time.

"Are you willing to help?" Scott suddenly asked after a few seconds snapping him out of his trance.

"How do you want me to help?" He questioned and Scott knew he was in.

"I have a plan."

"Andrea, is that you?" Her mother's voice echoed through the house as soon as Andrea entered. The smell of sweet aroma of cookies wafted through her nose.

"Yeah, it's me." She answered taking her shoes off and making her way to the kitchen where she knew her mother was baking some delicious chocolate chip cookies.

"There's a mail that came today. It's for you." She said beckoning towards the white envelope placed on the top of the counter.

"Thanks. I'll just go upstairs to get some rest." She informed her taking the envelope.

"Alright, sweetheart. I'll call you when dinner'a ready."

Andrea made her way to the room with her bag slung over her shoulders. She changed her clothes to some shorts and a shirt that belonged to her father making it looked extra big on her.

She then laid on her bed on her stomach and tear opened the envelope. It was the first time she got a mail unexpectedly. She only received mails from the universities she applied into to see whether or not she made it in.

She held the paper in her hand and unfolded it. In the note, it stated:

Beware, beautiful...

I'm watching you... Real close!

And I'm out to get'ya!

P.S. Tell your boyfriend to act fast because I'm coming soon ;)

Andrea stared at the letter with shaking hands and widened eyes. She could have sworn tears were blinding her view. She felt her breath hitching in her throat and she couldn't breathe properly. She knew someone was out to get her. She knew it wasn't a prank. And she knew that Ryder was also in trouble.
