Me On You - Muscadine Bloodline

CHARLIE

I'm unsure why, but I was nervous about Colt coming to my house. My parents last saw him on Thanksgiving, and it was June. I am paranoid that they hate him after everything, even though my mom told me to go after him when he moved here. I'm sure Colt feels no stress about this since that's the kind of person he is.
We pull into the driveway, and I don't hesitate to see if Colt makes a move to open the door for me, which he does. He hadn't asked me to be his girlfriend again; I think he was scared to ask. I would have said yes, but maybe I'll make him beg for me a little harder.
He grins as he grabs my hand to help me out of the car. "I'm not a hundred," I huff as I hit the gravel on my feet.
"Sassy," he mutters, walking behind me.
I creek the door to the kitchen open from the garage, slowly opening it in case someone happened to be there. No one. I walk inside, Colt shutting the door behind us, and we walk further into the house. It was silent. I peek out the windows to see my mother sitting on the back porch as my father throws a football to my brother.
I smile as I open the door to see them being a family. My mother immediately turned around to see who it was and stood when she saw me. She freezes and smiles when she sees Colt walk out the door behind me. "Well, hello there," she says, putting her hands on her hips.
"Hey, Mrs. Reese," Colt says, walking up to her and giving her a side hug.
She wraps her arm around him, resting her head on his arm, "Colt, I've told you to call me Courtney."
I roll my eyes at the fact she's lying all over him, "Colt wanted to say hello. We are going out to eat, so I need to change."
"Well, that just sounds lovely!"
Suddenly, we have the boys' attention back in the yard, "Colt!" My brother screams, running to the porch with my father close behind. We have a small family reunion before Luke begs Colt to throw the ball with him. "I was gettin' tired anyways," my dad laughs, heading back to the couch.
"I'll change, and you go play," I tease Colt, patting him on the shoulder and walking inside. The joy on my brother's face was priceless. He loved Colt.
I walk up the stairs to my homemade apartment above the garage, with my mother following me, wanting to hear the gossip. I walk to my closet, trying to find a dress to wear. "So?" My mom questions, sitting on my bed.
"So, what?" I ask, acting oblivious to what I know she means exactly.
"Are you two back together?"
I grab a white puffy-sleeved dress off the hanger, laying it on the bed before looking at her. I try to hide my smile, but it's contagious as she looks at me, "I don't really know. We talked, but he didn't ask me to be his girlfriend."
"He's probably scared. Maybe you should ask him."
I laugh, "I don't know. I enjoy having him follow me around like a puppy on a string." Lucky was on my heels just as much as Colt was.
"Charlie, you are going to have gray hair before you give me a grandbaby, come on," she wines.
"Wow, mom, is that all you care about?" I strip out of my jeans and tank top, exchanging them for the dress. I slip on my baby blue cowboy boots, looking for my earrings at my desk.
"Oh, please. We all know about that five-year plan of yours. You've mentioned it a hundred times."
"I had to edit the plan and change it to six years. But don't worry, Colt hates taking things slow. I'll be married before you know it." I combed my hair, running it through my straightener a few times, and then I was ready.
I walk down the stairs and try to fetch Colt, but my brother is on top of him as he curls in a ball, huddling the football. "Gimme it, Colt!" He whined, "You win!" He immediately grew taller, leaving the ball on the ground, rustling Luke's hair.
"You ready?" I yell into the yard, earning a look from the both of them.
Colt wraps his arm around Luke, and they walk to the porch. "Later, dude," Colt says, teasing him once more before letting go. We walk out of the house back to his truck, where he opens the door for me but stops me from climbing in. "You look beautiful," he pulls me close and kisses me on the cheek. He then lets go, and I climb in the truck.
We drove into the city to eat at a downtown pizza place that wasn't too crowded. We decided to split a pizza and wait for the waitress to take our order.
My eyes widened when the waiter walked up to the table with an annoyed look on his face. My ex-boyfriend was the waiter. Colt grinned when he saw the two of us looking at each other in disgust. "I'll take a Miller Lite to drink," he paused and looked at me, leaning back in his seat, "what you want, babe?"
Of course, he had to pull the babe card. "I'll take a Pinot Grigio."
"I'll need to see some ID. The both of you," Troy snarls.
I roll my eyes, prick. He knows how old I am. We are the same age. I pulled my license out and handed it to him, and Colt did the same. He gives them back and begins to walk away, but Colt stops him, "Hey man, we're ready to order our food."
Troy huffs, "What will you have?"
"We both want a Caesar salad and the sausage and pepper pizza." Troy takes the menus and walks away with a scowl, but Colt's smile never disappears. "You know him?"
"That's my ex-boyfriend."
His eyes widened, he crossed his arms across his chest, leaned back in the chair, laughing, "You really know how to choose em', Charlie."
"He didn't seem grumpy when I ran into him in the tampon section a few weeks ago holding a box of condoms. Definitely just mad that we caught him working at the local pizza shop instead of his daddy's law firm he was supposed to."
Colt laughs, "I guess that's the guy your brother was talking to me about."
I furrow my eyebrows, crossing my arms on the table, "what do you mean?"
"He said he liked me much better than your old boyfriend."
"No offense, but I think anything is a step above him. Young love," I mumble as Troy brings our drinks and salad to the table. "Thanks, Troy!" I politely smile at him. He gives me a side eye before walking away, saying nothing.
We sit silently as we eat our salads, not realizing how large my appetite was from our long ride earlier. I stare at him, thinking about our conversation earlier. "What?" He asks.
I raise my eyebrow at him, "When are you gonna ask me to be your girlfriend?"
He sucks his bottom lip, trying to hide his smile, "I didn't know if you were ready for that yet."
"Colt, you could have asked me the first day I showed up at your house, and I would've said yes."
"Good to know. Will you be my girlfriend?"
I smile, "Well, since you asked so nicely, yes."
"When do I ask you to move in?"
My eyes widened. I hadn't even gotten that far. I didn't think about it. I show up at his house whenever I want to. This weekend was a game-changer for us. I mean, only last night did I kiss him for the first time, and now I want to move in with him. I meant what I told my mother earlier about him moving fast. "I will think about that one."
"Don't you think we've waited long enough?" Yes. I do. I want to move in so bad. I think it's too quick.
"Can I at least date you for like a week? What if you've picked up some bad habits I don't like? What if you leave the toilet seat up now?"
He rolled his eyes, "Fine, Charlie. I'll remember this one."
I sigh, "Fine. I'll start to move in slowly, but I'm still gonna sleep at my place sometimes until then. You keep me up too late."
He gasps, putting a hand over his heart, "I keep YOU up late? You are all over me all night, inappropriately touching me! You were the one to kiss me first."
"I didn't think you'd ever make a move."
"That just proves how much of a gentleman I am."
"I might have thought you turned gay if I didn't."
He leaned closer to the table and whispered, "I am gonna fuck you so hard when we get back that you're gonna wish you never said that." My eyes widened in fear, and between my legs began to tingle.
