chapter thirteen
may, ben, tony
peter benjamin parker stood silently in front of his aunts grave. his hands were holding onto a bouquet of spring flowers: tulips and daisys.
"hi may." peter began as he shuffled on his feet. "so i found your lucky list."
there was no other sound, just peters voice.
"me and this girl, nova, we've been doing it. we have three more things left to do until we're done." peter let out as fiddled with the flowers in his hands.
"i like her. shes a sweetheart, you would have loved her. she reminds me of you some days... and i hope that isn't the reason why i like her. because that's not fair to her." peter shuffled on his feet. "but, she's so full of energy, and that makes me think of you."
a bird in the distance chirped, like they were replying to peters words.
"oh, oh. i had taught her how to drive. she was reckless and you would have totally screamed. so loudly — i screamed so loudly." peter laughed lightly. "she just stepped on the gas and we went so fast."
"remember mister barnes? the ex winter solider. that's her dad, well she's adopted but yeah. she works at this bookstore and we meet up and read comic books all the time." peter rambled. "he's really nice, he did think that me and her were going to have sex the other night... me and her had a sleep over on the roof of her apartment. it was really nice we had gone and slept under the stars, aunt may."
peter smiled sadly. "oh. i found this ring and necklace of yours. i may or may not have taken it from happys new apartment... not that anyone would know! but i keep the ring on my finger all the time now." peter said as he twirled said ring. "and i wear the necklace too."
peter crouched down and placed the flowers gently on his aunts grave. "i larb you aunt may."
peter paused before he took a few steps to his side and was at his uncles grave.
"hey uncle ben." he spoke softly. "i know it's been a few weeks." only two. "i've missed you. oh, last night i was looking through some pictures and i found one of me and you."
peter carefully dug the picture from his hoodie pocket. it was an old picture of a very young peter, he couldn't be any older than six or seven. he was standing on his uncles shoulders with his brand new ironman velcro shoes — they would light up red and gold-ish yellow with every step. ( peter was absolutely in love with those shoes and cried and cried when he out grew them. )
he traced his fingers along the picture. "i think im seven in this one. it's when i had gotten my ironman shoes, the ones that light up." peter hummed. "i think we went out for ice cream that night too. im not sure, maybe it was just something else."
if ben was was there he would have told peter everything about that night. he would have started to tell him about how his younger self couldn't decide what shirt to wear. ( between an ironman and captain america shirt. ) then after his aunt had picked out his favourite ironman shirt, he had rushed to put on his brand new shoes.
he probably would have gone and on about how peter had taken forever to pick out the flavour of ice cream he wanted, when he chose chocolate like every other time afterwards.
"i miss you. i don't think I'll ever stop missing you." peter breathed out. "i don't know what to say. are you with aunt may?... that's silly, you can't answer me."
"i hope your with aunt may. i hope she's got you running around wildly as she tries to find some thai place." she was indeed, "you guys have the dog you always wanted?" they did, his name was milly.
"there's this girl. her names nova. she-she's amazing. and if you were here i would be asking you for all kinds of advice. like should i ask her on a date? or just let our friendship grow? girls are confusing uncle ben, i wish you were here to give me some advice." peter shuffled on his feet. "i love you. and i'll come by soon, okay? bye uncle ben."
peter left his uncles grave with a sad smile. he walked for awhile until he reached this park, it was a park for all the fallen hero's. black widow natasha romanoff, ironman tony stark, quick silver pietro maximoff, vision vision, captain america steve rogers, and more people who had risked their lives for the world.
peter wondered if anyone else who knew the avengers and the hero's visited the park. he wondered if pepper ever took morgan here.
"hey mr. stark."
hey kid.
"im still patrolling. im still being the friendly neighborhood spider-man."
good. good.
"people had thought i killed this guy... he pretended to be a hero but he wasn't. he was a bad guy."
im sorry kid.
"the world had turned against me, and i thought i was done for. i had gone to doctor strange and i ended up opening the multiverse — it was kinda cool but bad!"
im not sure if i should be
proud that you had
opened it or not.
"then these villains entered our world! they were from other world, mr. stark! i had tried to help them... but then they turned for power. may had died."
im so sorry kid.
"and then there were two other spider-man's! it was really confusing. but then we had saved our earth. but everyone had to forget me."
two more spider-boys?!
"there's this girl. she didn't forget me. and i think you would have liked her. pepper too. she's bucky, mr. barnes adoptive daughter."
another barnes!
"she's really great."
be a gentleman, pete.
"i miss you mr. stark. and i wish you were here, i wish you all were here."
i miss you too, kid.
"i guess this is it. i don't know what else to say... the suit you made me is hidden in my closet. uh, i made my own one... bye mr. stark. until next time."
