chapter fifteen
meeting spider-man once again

in one of the foster homes nova had stayed in when she was younger, was a large painting like board that hung in the bathroom. it was pained white, but more of an old rustic looking white if that made sense. the writing on the board was cursive, and nova didn't know how to read it at the time. (but she knew now that she had gone to school and learnt cursive.)

she had gotten either her foster mom or older foster sister to read it to her when she was curios, in the beginning of her stay. the words had read: life is beautiful.

nova didn't understand that then. how could see? she was being bounced between foster homes and group homes ever since she was born. she never knew stable. she didn't know lots either, it didn't help when you had to move schools every few months because you couldn't stay in one place.

she didn't understand how something so harsh could be beautiful. in her young eyes, life was just life. it was a word with little meaning for her. life was something that just happened, it was simple, you were born, you lived and then you died when you got old. (or when the world had other plans.)

life... life to nova (when she was young) was just a term old people used to describe things they had done before they couldn't do things anymore. 'i've lived my life...' & 'you have your life ahead of you!' those kinds of things went through one ear and out the other.

but now. now she was older. now she had someone to call dad. she had a stable job and a home she could go to without worrying the foster parent wouldn't want her anymore. now she had friends. an uncle even, and kids she considered her cousins.

she had peter. peter, he was like a breath of fresh air.

life had a whole new meaning. life in her eyes now was happiness, friends and family. peter parker and his silly little science jokes.

now she understood the writing on that board. life was beautiful and she could see it now.

nova sighed heavily as she closed the cover to her journal. that was enough diary writing for today.

"spider-man!" novas words came out rushed as she moved forwards to where the robbery was happening.

peter — or spider-man twirled around quickly. "miss bubbles!"

oh yes. that had been the name lots of children had been calling nova. or the super secret version of nova anyways. bubbles, or miss bubbles was what she often got called — she didn't mind though. she preferred it, rather than the name vigilante or menace.

"i can help." nova — miss bubbles puffed out her chest to make her look stronger and bigger.

spider-man shook his head. "no, no. i have it." he wasn't trying to be stubborn, nah, he just didn't want anyone else to get involved with what was happening.

there were hostages, too many. and the bank robbers seemed to have it down. they knew the layout, they had the guns. they even knew the police and others had them surrounded. they had the upper hand. but what they didn't know was that spider-man was waiting to enter.

"please. there's people in there, i can put a shield around them." miss bubbles nova pleaded.

"uh, uh. yeah, okay." peter fumbled of his words as he lead miss bubbles nova towards the door he and her would go in.

he then told her the plan, more or so just don't get killed. but either way they were about to go in, and work their magic to save some lives and stop the robbers.

nova fiddled with her fingers as she waited. her and spider-man were waiting for the negotiator to declare that there was nothing more they could do. that the fate of the people inside the bank was up to spider-man and miss bubbles.

the negotiator and two men who looked to be chief of police or a team of some sort, walked up to the young vigilantes. "it's up to you two now." one of the older men told them.

peter nodded. and so did nova.

"thank you." nova spoke before she and peter turned to enter the bank quickly.

they were only a step inside the doors when nova had a bubble like shield around spider-man, herself and the hostages.

spider-man was snatching the weapons away from the robbers quickly, then attempting to web them up as well.

it was quick and before the two young adults really even noticed, the robbers had been tied up and everyone was safe. the police forces entered to take the robbers away, and medical personnel entered the building to help any one who may be hurt.

"good job, spidey." nova gave the man a thumbs up before she went off running.

"y-you too miss bubbles!"
