"Charlotte?" Morgane asked the brunette in front of her as she looked up from her homework.

Charlotte as well looked up from her laptop she was previously working on. "Yes, ma petite fleur?" she replied, sipping her coffee, curious of what the young brunette was going to ask her.

She was a smart and curious child, always wanting to learn new things and never afraid to ask about things. It was honestly fun to watch such a young kid asking all kind of things some adults couldn't even think about.

Morgane had great fantasies and her mind was always on a roll, only resting when she was asleep.

"Last night I woke up from the wind blowing my curtains, I think, and I suddenly heard you yell Charles's name, what happened?"

The girl had actually no idea what had woken her from her sleep last night, but she just assumed it were the curtains as the wind was in fact blowing pretty hard. The weather had been a little stormy.

Then she had heard her mother figure calling out Charles's name multiple times. Morgane couldn't quite guess what was going on as there hadn't been much more of a conversation, but she hoped that Charles didn't hurt her. Morgane loved both of them a lot, but she couldn't bear the thought of one hurting the other. It bothered her for the whole day at school and she didn't want to talk about it with anyone before she could ask either one of them.

Charlotte's eyes widened and almost choked on her coffee when she heard the nine year old's question, precisely knowing what had been going on last night. Charles had come home yesterday evening, only seeing Morgane for a second before she had to go to bed. The couple had the whole night for themselves, and they took the opportunity of his goddaughter being fast asleep. They had tried to stay as silent as possible while they were having sex. And maybe they had been quiet enough, but she overheard them anyway and it made Charlotte feel somewhat uncomfortable.

She smiled after a soft cough caused by the recent choking from the coffee and replied. "There was a spider on the wall and I got scared. I called for Charles to help me kill it."

Something in the story didn't feel right. Charlotte had to think about the story a little too long in Morgane's opinion.

"So he didn't hurt you? I thought that's why you cried out his name." she asked, now getting more to her point and her face turned a little sad, afraid that it could be the truth. And that was just something she didn't want.

Charlotte's expression softened. "What? No, love, he didn't hurt me." she said while getting up to walk over to the girl and hug her. "He would never try to hurt me, don't worry about that. It was just a spider."

She gave Morgane a comforting smile and a reassuring nod to make sure she believed her, and she finally did. It wasn't like either one of them to hurt one another, but Morgane just had to be sure.

"Okay, then it's okay. Can you help me with my homework?"

"Of course. I love you."

"I love you too, Charlotte."

Charlotte sat down next to her and worked on her homework together. She didn't even care about her own work right now, as she just wanted to get Morgane's mind off her thoughts and help her with school.

_____

As soon as Charles got home from his training session and had taken a glass of water, Charlotte took him by his hand and dragged him to another room.

Morgane looked after them walking out of the dining room in such speed. They were in a hurry?

When the door closed behind the pair Charlotte started talking to the confused Charles.

Why'd she drag him away like that? Had he done something wrong?

"Morgane heard us." she hissed.

Charles didn't quite get it yet, as was noticeable by the frown staying on his forehead. "Heard us doing what? Talking, snoring, showering, cooking, watching tv?"

"No, you stupid. She heard us last night." Charlotte now spoke up a little louder, still making sure that Morgane wasn't able to hear their conversation in the other room.

Now Charles got it and a cheeky smile grew on his face, exactly knowing what she meant. "Ohh, she heard you?" he said teasingly and he pushed a strand of hair behind his irritated girlfriend's ear.

"That's not funny Charles. I didn't know what to say, I had to come up with a story."

"And what did you tell her? The truth?"

Her eyes widened and punched him in the stomach, getting that stupid grin off his face for a second. "No of course I didn't. I told her there was a spider on the wall and I called your name to get you come help me kill it."

Charles looked at her for a second not knowing how he should reply, but shortly after he bursted into an unstoppable laughter.

Charlotte was irritated by how her boyfriend was reacting to this situation, but his catchy laugh made her smile with him a little bit.

Now that she was thinking about it, it sounded like a stupid story.

"What? I panicked!" she said while throwing her hands in the air. Charles wiped away a tear that had escaped his eye while laughing and he walked closer to her.

"Oh I love you." he said with a big smile on his face and he pecked her lips. She pulled him in a hug and laid her head on his chest. "Did she believe you though?" He could imagine that she wouldn't believe such a story right away. He knew Morgane was a keen girl that would always want to know the whole story to something.

Charlotte shook her head no against his chest. "She thought that you were hurting me and that it was for that reason that I said your name." she quietly replied, making Charles look up worried.

"She really thought I would do that?"

It hurt him to think that his goddaughter would think that he was capable of doing such things.

"No, I don't think she really thought you would, she was just worried and wanted to check up with me I guess. She loves us Charles. She would be absolutely devastated if one of us got hurt."

Charlotte looked into his bright blue eyes that had a sad expression in them and she tried to comfort him by caressing her fingers through his hair. Luckily it helped and a small smile reappeared on his face.

"I am going to call my maman and ask her if Morgane can stay at hers this evening and night. I'm taking you on a date and then after we can catch spiders without being overheard."

The older brunette bit her lip and nodded. She liked that idea. She kissed her boyfriend and together they headed out of the room. "Do you think she's done at the salon already?"

"Calm down ma'am, you're a little too excited." Charles replied, cheekily hitting her butt making both Charlotte and Morgane look at him at surprise. Charlotte gave him a warning look and Morgane looked at him puzzled. He replied to both of them with a grin.

He walked over to the girl and sat down on the couch laying his arm around her shoulders. "How would you like to stay at my maman's place tonight? I can ask her to bake cookies with you?" he proposed and he saw a smile grow on her face.

Morgane's mouth opened to ask him why she was staying the night over at Pascale's but before she could say something he shut her up by whispering in her ear. "I am taking Charlotte on a date tonight, I missed her a lot."

Her smile grew even wider. She loved that. He showed his love for his girlfriend and spent the time he could with the people he loved.

"Okay, I like staying at your maman's. I still want to go to her salon one day so drop me off at hers at daytime another time?"

"Of course, ma cherié. We will also do something fun tomorrow after I pick you up again, alright?"

She nodded her head heavily making both Charles and Charlotte, who had been looking from a distance, laugh.

Charlotte held out her hand for Morgane to come to her and grab it. "Come on, we'll pack your stuff for the night while Charles calls Pascale." The girl got up from the couch and walked with her, not missing out on the smile the couple shared with each other.

This was going to be their night and she didn't mind it at all. She thought they deserved the world.
