Night time...
One text could hurt.
They started texting, Hoseok responding immediately, Yoongi not looking up.
"Hyung, remember you have a job."
He nodded and kept texting.
"Hyung, someone's coming this way. Be ready to help."
Yoongi couldn't get his eyes off his screen.
"Hyung."
"Gimme a sec, I have to do my job."
Yoongi hurried up and asked her if she was looking for anything in particular. He helped her with what she was looking for. A friendship flower for their new friend, easy, he showed her to the generous amounts of yellow flowers. She picked one, he rung her up, and went straight back to texting.
"Don't worry, I understand you have a job. I need to finish a project so I'll text you later tonight? That is if you want to, hopefully I don't seem clingy."
"No, it seems like you're just trying to be here for me, and I appreciate that. Hopefully things get better."
"Yeah, hopefully. I'll text you tonight to make sure everything's alright."
"Thanks."
"Np. Now byeeee! :)"
Yoongi looked up from his phone to see Jungkook simply looking at him, hand on his hip, tsk-ing and shaking his head. "Don't cry tonight okay? I'll be busy tonight sadly, so I can't bring you food and make you tea. And I bet...you know...Namjoon hyung is busy as well..."
"He's always busy." Yoongi said with too much distaste. He saw Jungkook look down a little. "But don't worry, I won't cry okay? Just, I'll be okay."
"...Hyung I'm worried about you, okay? So please tell me anything and everything you need to talk about or get of your chest. Okay?"
"If I need to talk, you'll be the first one I text. Or call, depending if it's an emergency."
"We both know if you actually call someone it'll be an emergency."
"Haha, so funny. Now I'll actually work, he's busy right now so he can't text."
The next hours he worked, fixing up the shop, trying his best to not be gloomy about the people getting flowers and succulents for their significant other. He tried really hard. And soon enough he realized his shift ended and his classes started soon. He and Jungkook closed up shop, and went their separate ways, Yoongi almost running to be on time for his night classes, and Jungkook going...wherever he was going. Yoongi never asked him before about where he went when he was "busy tonight."
Yoongi went to his classes, some boring, some interesting. He was always able to write lyrics while in classes, something about how he could feel how people were feeling, not in a bad way, but he could usually read people pretty well, which is why the breakup surprised him. It was a call, not Skype. He couldn't see how she was acting, he couldn't see her eyes and what they were going to do. He couldn't have predicted it, and he knew she knew that. She did this in just the way she knew would or could hurt him most. And it worked. He finished his class, heading home, head down, thinking about his unlucky ass, and how he let someone get the best of him.
He hurried home, feeling his burning tears pierce his eyes, passing people who looked at him with pity, forgetting about his promise to Jungkook. He unlocked his door to his apartment, went inside, locked the door, then crashed onto his bed, throwing his layers on the floor like usual, crying his heart out. He felt the hot tears rain down his face, brushing them away, but they kept falling. He was upset at how it went down. He had never yelled so much before, he had never been so angry, he had never been so sad, and he had never been so used. He felt exposed and used, and he hated himself for letting that happen. He just wanted it all to disappear. He just wanted to disappear. The famous actress, whom he had dated, clearly cheated on him, as she said she would, if he didn't "fix things before it was too late". She clearly just wanted more attention. He was blind, and hurt, and that's when he decided.
"I'm not going to fall for anybody else. I won't let myself be hurt again."
And with his luck, he got a text, from Hoseok.
"You good?"
Yoongi didn't really know how to respond. He left the message on read for a couple minutes, trying to think of what to say, wiping his tears.
"Yeah, I'm good."
"Well, I'm here if you need to talk. I know that breakups suck a whole lot."
"Seems like you do. How much experience do you have?"
"Too much, but still hoping to meet the one ya know? I don't think it's good to think once you've had one really bad experience, that it means everyone is terrible. Even when it was really bad."
His words, even through text, made his eyes sting. "Even when it's terrible, you still hope for the one huh. That's really optimistic...I wish I was like that. I can't even keep a friendship, what made me think I could handle an actress..."
"I think you're right, but this particular person ruined it for me. They really hurt me, so I'm going to take a break for now."
"Just don't give up on it, okay? It's never good to stop looking, since hope is the only thing that beats fear."
"Cliché."
"It works."
Yoongi laughed a little, wiping the rest of his tears. He got up to start hot water in his tea kettle, to make himself tea, the best way to end a terrible night.
"I hope the best for you. Meet up tomorrow? You seem shaken up."
"Sorry, I've got my priorities set, my friend deserves to take care of me first."
"I can't loose Jungkook too." He told himself.
"Makes sense. I'll make sure to check on you tomorrow though, I'll have time."
"Thank you again."
"Don't worry about it. I'm glad I can help."
"Goodnight, Hoseok."
"Goodnight Yoongi."
