Nothing Else Matter

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Author's POV

"God Jungkook, where have you been?" Aíden asked, panicking clear in his voice as he grabbed his pants and started to wear them while Jungkook just looked at him confusedly; what was this all fuss about?

"Nowhere. What's wrong? You look panicked." He raised a question, watching Aíden zipping up his jeans in a quick manner. It's Thursday which means Jungkook needed to go to work but since he received the not-so-sweet news about Jimin right after he woke up, immediately he went to the hospital without taking a morning shower; so now, he comes back to get ready for work.

"Jimin is admitted to the hospital!! I need to see him!!" Aíden said quickly and started to pack up a tiny bag, putting what he needed inside; failed to notice the pained facial expressions that were plastered across Jungkook's face as soon as he mentioned the certain other. After he finished his shower that morning, he got out of the bathroom only to find that his fianceé was nowhere to be seen but then he remembers that one call and checks the history log which reveals SeokJin's name on it. He didn't waste any time and called back, which later on he got the news about Jimin.

His action stopped when he got no answer from Jungkook as he glanced behind him and raised eyebrows in a questioning way. "What's wrong?" He asked and stared at Jungkook, noticing the male was actually wearing casual clothes; meaning he went somewhere, and not to add how the younger face clearly displayed; tension– which only makes it more obvious that something is wrong.

"I…" Jungkook trailed off, still hesitant with his decision. It's not easy if you face it for real, he doesn't know if he's strong enough to endure all of the situations in the future if he chooses Jimin. But he wanted a perfect ending… Now he had learned in a hard way that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, or end. It makes him realize that life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment, and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next.

And he knows the only way for him to get the happy ending is if he chooses Jimin. Why? Simply because he loves the male.

It was the beginning and the ending of everything.

"You what?" Aíden asked innocently, breaking Jungkook from his daze as he looked up at the other; decided that it was time for him to tell the truth. He doesn't think he could continue this any longer and just like what SeokJin had said; he needs to show Jimin his effort. "We need to talk." He declared and watched Aíden stare at him for a second, probably wanting to ask what it was but didn't question further and only gave a nod in return.

"Sure but not now, I need to visit Jimin and you need to go to work. We can talk about it at dinner tonight, I'll cook for us." Aíden remarked as Jungkook sighed and nodded a little, clearly not loving the decision but needed to comply either way. The other is right, he indeed got work to settle; not only his business paperwork but also NamJoon and the rest of his friends. Though they don't need to know, Jungkook still decided on telling them. After all, they have done nothing but stay beside him through ups and downs together.

"Right. Now go take a shower." Aíden advised before making his way towards Jungkook and gave a peck on his lips before leaving the room in hurry; not knowing that would be the last time. Jungkook stood still in the room, gazing at every inch of it as stigma filled up inside his stomach while he remembered every memory he shared with the other male.

Aíden is nice.

Too nice for Jungkook.

The older one had never complained about anything to him, never had made him irritated or angry, never forgot to call him and say I love you every day, never forgot to do the house chores even though his work is occupied, never had made Jungkook feel as if the other was invading his privacy, never do something that makes himself labeled as imperfect because everything about Aíden is perfect. Rather from Jungkook's eyes or others, if anyone had married the man; they would be the blessedest people in the world. But unfortunately for Jungkook's heart, being a good fianceé and a perfect person is not enough.

The heart still chooses what it wants.

"I need to take a shower…" He mumbled under his breath and shut his thoughts, not wanting to make himself feel more guilty than he already is because that will only lead him to hang around again. And that's not what he wanted in the first place. With a deep breath, he made his way towards the bathroom; getting ready to go to his workplace.

A knock on Jungkook's office door was heard, breaking the owner's thought as he shook his head; waking up from his reverie.

"Come in," Jungkook affirmed as he glanced down on the paperwork that was in his right hand, waiting patiently for his sign as an agreement; completely failing to notice NamJoon's presence with the usual iPad and files in his arms standing in the middle of the cool room.

"Here is the newest report we got from HWANG's company… Their sales have been increasing successfully which returns our modals and benefits." NamJoon explained professionally and put down the file in his hand on Jungkook's table, ignoring the stunned facial expressions of the younger. Though Jungkook knows they will meet every day since NamJoon is his secretary, he still couldn't help but feel shocked when facing the other that time.

"That's good. Do a report and state there that we will increase the number of models if they manage to sell all of their stocks for now. Anything else?" Jungkook asserted and watched NamJoon nod before typing down on the tablet; taking note of every little thing he said just now; acting normal than ever. As if they don't know each other, as if they didn't just have an argument, as if they are nothing but the boss and worker relationship which certainly… Jungkook didn't like it at all.

"Yeah, our collaboration with the Modela Spain company has to be put on hold for at least two weeks. I received a notice from their team and explained that Mr. Park was admitted to a hospital for an accident this morning." The older explained further, not once looking away from his screen tablet which made Jungkook convinced with his thoughts that the male is still angry by his actions yesterday but nonetheless; he hummed casually in return by the news.

Well, he knows that already… No point acting as if he was shocked or something.

"I know that, go prepare an official letter regarding Mr. Park's issue. Inscribe there that our company will give him a break as long as he requires. He will return forthwith by the time he has healed." Jungkook clarified as NamJoon didn't waste any second to jot down every little thing despite the feeling of curiosity growing inside him. He badly wanted to know how the younger one knew about the news but didn't question further when he remembered the fact that they are not on the same page anymore.

"Anything else, Mr. Jeon?" NamJoon asked as he gazed at the younger for the first time that day with apathetic facial expressions until something caught his dragon-shaped eyes, which immediately made his face react negatively to it.

It was Aíden's portrait.

It is not there anymore… Instead, the space that remained was left empty with no replacement photo or anything else. And as if Jungkook understood what was all this about, he cleared his throat; praying to all Gods or Angels he didn't even believe with the hope that this about-to-be-conversation would go smoothly without any hate on any side.

"We need to talk, hyung." He mumbled, purposely putting the last word with pressure, dropping the informalities between a worker and a boss relationship as he glanced at NamJoon and watched the male caught off guard, probably didn't expecting his words.

"Ahh, I'm sorry Mr. Jeon but I have work to do—"

"Please… Stop all of this formality bullshit!! I'm sorry that I yelled at you, okay?! I'm just stressed!!" Jungkook interrupted the elder off, trouble clearly in his voice while he spat those words but still managed to not raise his voice any further as he looked at NamJoon who kept silent for an eternity before slowly sighing and nodded, indicating that he already forgave the other and are on ears to hear.

"I'm sorry too, I very much likely overreacted back then." NamJoon mumbled and looked at Jungkook who grinned a little at their progress. "But tell me, what happened to Aíden's portrait?" He asked and noticed the soft bunny-like smile on Jungkook's lips completely wiped off by the mention of his own fianceé which made NamJoon understand instantly that the topic they will talk about is related to Aíden and of course… NamJoon doubts if Jimin is on the topic too because there's a big chance that the model will also be included in this issue they wanted to talk about.

"About that… Yeah, I wanted to talk about it." Jungkook declared and glanced at NamJoon who nodded at the statement as he elegantly placed his tablet on the younger's table before setting himself on the guest's chair that was positioned right opposite Jungkook. "Speak then. I'm here," The older assured, expressing his calm demeanor to the others to show that it was fine to say whatever the hell Jungkook was about to say.

"I've... Decided to leave Aíden—"

"What?" NamJoon asked shockingly but didn't raise his voice as he eyed the other with a stunning face. He doesn't understand why but deep inside he didn't feel surprised as he responded, he bet that Jungkook would eventually spat those words sooner or later...it's just that he didn't expect this to happen so early.

"Please just hear me out first."

"Okay, okay… Go on." NamJoon assured and leaned his back against the leather chair while his eyes never left the younger one who sighed loudly at his words.

"I had an affair with Jimin for over three months now…" Jungkook started and immediately looked down, scared or to be exact; embarrassed by his asshole self while NamJoon just nodded in return, trying so hard to not just stand up and give a punch at the younger's face for being a cheater. Though he already expected this to happen a long time ago, hearing from Jungkook himself is giving him a different kind of vibe. You would definitely feel wanted to slap, punch, beat, and even crush every piece of Jungkook's bone.

"I swear I didn't mean to do that to Aíden but it's eventually getting out of control. I tried to face him once but when I stood in the place in front of him, my heart couldn't let it happen because I knew he would hurt so I kept it from him—"

"And now you realize it doesn't make any difference, doesn't it? He still will be hurt, the only difference is that sooner or later." NamJoon interrupted him, spitting out the certainty straight on top of Jungkook's face who looked down ashamed but still nodded either way; implying what the older said earlier was right; which earned a bitterness mixed with a mocking chuckle in return.

"Yeah, I thought I could stop this from happening, hyung. I don't want Aíden to get hurt but the more I push him away, the more I realize how much I really need him. Though he didn't give me anything in return, I still need him. I wish I could but we all know that I definitely couldn't. Every second that I waste with him, reminds me of when we were in college back then. His dress, his perfume, his soft skin… All of it!! I couldn't help but fall for him again—"

"You don't fall for him again, Jungkook. You never moved on from him and we all know that. I know you love him and I don't blame you because we can't control our feelings but let's be real Jungkook!! You can control your physical activity yet you don't. I will definitely call this cheating." The older intruded on him again, feeling himself slowly forgetting the idea of 'listen first, say anything later' as Jungkook looked at him as if he was a ghost.

"H-how did you know…?"

"Oh, come on Jungkook. What else is the affair you're implied to? I don't think Jimin returned your feelings!! Wait— no. I know, Jimin didn't return your feelings. He did the same back then in college. The only thing he ever gives to you is his body which you, of course, are obsessed with." NamJoon spat rudely, not knowing his words hit like a rock on Jungkook's face. The older man was right, Jimin indeed never loved him.

But does that even matter?

As long as Jungkook loves him, other things wouldn't matter. He just needs to put effort into it. He will get there eventually.

Or at least … That's what he thought.
