Adelaide's heart was racing and her breath came quickly. Montano, who was whistling a tune, glanced at her, his posture turning rigid. He noticed the state she was in.

"What's with you?" he asked.

Closing her eyes for a split second, she stopped walking.

"You haven't answered my question back there you know," she muttered.

Hearing no footsteps behind him, Montano stopped, his body twisting around. "What was that question again?" he said.

"What did you do to my bodyguard?" The question bothered her and settled an uneasy feeling at the pit of her stomach. She tried piecing the answers in her head, but nothing came up; nothing made sense.

Montano rubbed his brows together, his head shaking slightly.

"Didn't I tell you earlier that I took care of it?" he said.

"Yes, but could you elaborate?" Her voice lowered into a whisper. Her hands interlocked with each other.

Letting out an exaggerated sigh, Montano leaned against the wall. He tilted his head back, his arms crossing one another while one foot tapped onto the floor impatiently.

"Who even says elaborate?" He has a pinched expression on his face. "You and I both know Luke has more power than you give him credit for, and-"

He narrowed his eyes at her. "You really shouldn't be asking questions like that."

Adelaide felt rooted to the spot, her throat suddenly feeling dry.

"Questions like what?" she asked.

Montano made a 'tsk' sound with his tongue, giving her a half-hearted shrug.

"Questions you really should learn to let go," he said.

"Then tell me why should I let it go, if it's bothering me?"

"Because-" His voice turned sharp. "What you don't know could save you."

Opening her mouth, Adelaide was about to give another reply, but Montano beat her to it.

"Now-" He pointed forward towards the glass door. "Go see lover boy inside."

She rubbed her eyes, not knowing how she failed to see the door a few meters away from them.

"Luke's in there?" she questioned.

Throwing his hands up, Montano looked at her with crazy eyes before he said, "No, a stripper is ... God, of course he's in there."

Nodding, Adelaide began walking forward. Her hands started to become sweaty, her legs feeling like they would fail her any second now as the uneasy feeling settling at the pit of her stomach came back.

When she met with the glass door, only inches away from her face, she turned her head back. Montano watched her turn around. He saw the speck of fear and excitement on her face. He gave a small smile; he knew she wouldn't give up on that stupid question of hers. She needed all the luck she could get.

Uncrossing his arms, he gave the little heiress a small salute before standing up straighter and walking the opposite way. Adelaide rubbed her hands at the side of her skirt, trying to get rid of the sweat before gripping the handle and opening it.

"I'm glad you're finally here," said a familiar voice.

Scanning the rooms, she noticed the walls were painted cream and the furniture was a mix of black and white. When her eyes finally landed on Luke, he sat on a stool, a red solo cup in his hand and a strawberry in the other.

"Well? Are you just going to stand there like a statue?" he joked, placing the strawberry in his mouth and chewing it slowly as he watched Adelaide mutter a small apology, closing the door behind her.

Adelaide stood awkwardly near the door, her eyes cast downwards. Luke chuckled at this; her stance reminded him of a little baby deer losing it's mother.

He stood up, moving towards her and placing his fingers underneath her chin. Tilting them, he made her look at him.

"C'mon, don't be shy now, come." He gestured, motioning for her to sit in one of the two arm chairs he had. Adelaide shyly nodded, cheeks flushing.

"I told you I could get you out of the house, didn't I?" Luke said. He sat across from her but with a more relaxed posture, his back slouching while hers were straight with legs crossed over one another.

Adelaide winced, she needed to get the answers on how he did it before her curiosity and thoughts brought her to her demise.

Luke noticed that wince. His eyebrows furrowed as he leaned forward.

"What's with that? Aren't you glad I asked Montano to fetch you?" he asked.

Adelaide stayed silent, she could feel the tension growing. She was starting to regret this, thinking home would be a safer option. However, her eyes grew big and her fingers were cracking her knuckles.

Luke eyed her up and down. "Sweet, you're worrying me here."

"How were you able to do ... this?" she spoke up.

"What's this?" he repeated, mocking her tone.

"How'd you get me out of that house?"

With that, Luke leaned back in his chair, a small smile plastered on his face. He made sure she was looking at him before he winked.

"I have my ways, sweet," he said.

Adelaide shook her head; the reply was a little vaguer than what she wanted to hear.

"Do those ways include Montano and Blood?" she uttered softly.

Grey eyes locked with her blue ones. She uncrossed her legs, placing her hands on her lap.

Luke quirked an eyebrow up. "Blood?" he asked.

She lost eye contact before saying, "Yes, what did you make him do? Montano hasn't said a word about it and neither of you want to answer my question."

Shaking his head, Luke lifted the solo cup he had placed on the side table before taking a sip.

Impatiently, Adelaide ran her hand through her hair saying, "Why won't you answer me?"

"Sweet, Montano is ... a boxer. He must've punched some guy during his fight before coming to get you." Somehow this didn't seem to ease Adelaide's gut feeling, but she knew she had to let it go. Luke's mouth set a hard line and his shoulders pulled back.

Silenced echoed between Adelaide and Montano on the way here. Chills ran through her as she realized she couldn't handle the vagueness and the gut feeling. It was nipping at her to say something, to ask if what he just said was true.

But before she could utter another word, Luke suddenly stood up. He placed the solo cup back on the side table and looked straight at Adelaide. The lazy smile he had on vanished as he stood in front of her.

"You know.." he trailed off, placing both his hands on the arm chair. The look on his face caused goosebumps to appear on her skin.

"What-Wha-" before Adelaide could finish, he cut her off by bending a bit so they'd look at each other at eye level.

"You're the one who wanted me to get you out of that house," his voice was calm and soft, almost a whisper.

"No- I - I just,"

"You what?" Luke asked.

Adelaide felt the air surrounding them started to feel hot. She couldn't help herself as she asked, "How was Montano able to get into my house?"

"That's not what I'm asking, sweetheart."

"But that's the question running through my mind," Adelaide said weakly. Her curiosity bothered her to no end.

He placed a thumb on her cheek, rubbing small imaginary circles while she glanced at it through her side vision. Adelaide kept her gaze forward trying to avoid Luke's eyes that were staring at her. It was too intense and too intimate that she couldn't bare to have eye contact with him for more than a minute.

Luke bit his lip, opening his mouth to say something, but then tucked a stray hair behind her ear. He just stared at her while Adelaide looked everywhere but him. She could smell him from how close they were. He smelled like dark chocolate and the outdoors.

Clearing his throat, he said, "Let's just say someone owed me a favor."

"One of my guards?"

"Now, if I answered that, it would ruin the surprise wouldn't it?"

Adelaide gulped, her pulse raising once again.

"Surprise?" she asked.

This time Luke's thumb trailed down to her neck, feeling her pulse. He felt the way her heart was beating faster than average and the way she held her breath as he did this.

"I think you to make it up to me, for helping you escape that house, I think it's fair, don't you think?"

"What- What will I do?"

He traced the shape of her collarbone, his eyes still locked with hers. Adelaide could see how blue his eyes truly were and the longness of his eyelashes. Despite the fear and curiosity she felt, she couldn't deny how beautiful he was.

"You're gonna accompany me," he told her, his fingers dipping at the space in her collar bone.

"Accompany you were?" with a shaky voice, she managed to reply. Her cheeks turned red as he moved even closer to her.

"As my plus one to this event supporting one of my closest friends," he whispered in her ear. Adelaide gripped the skirt she was wearing.

"Do I have a choice?" she whispered back.

He moved away from her, showing his dimpled smile as he laid out his hand in front of her. Adelaide blinked; the scene reminded her of when he first did that, of when she first saw him.

"Not really," he said. Adelaide can see the mischief in his eyes, the way his mouth curved a little bit too much and his dimple that seemed to be way too deep into his cheek.

Sighing, Adelaide exhaled and took his hand, bringing herself to stand up. Luke gladly linked her arm around his and they began walking.

"I never get to stay in one place for a long period of time do I?" Adelaide said.

"Where's the fun in that?" he replied, opening the door for her as they stepped out.

Both of them walked silently as they maneuvered themselves around his house. Adelaide looked around as they walked by, noticing the one or two people she would see passing by the corridors but other than that, the house seemed... empty.

The walls were the same color as his room and the furniture was black and white as well. Barely any picture frames or paintings were seen and as Adelaide and Luke took a set of stairs going down, she came to a realization that there were only two floors in this house.

"You're quiet," Luke said to her, opening the lights to what seemed to be his garage.

"I was just looking around," she replied. Adelaide's eye grew wider as she came to face a black sports car. The only one placed in the middle of the garage. However, there was enough space that it looked like it could fit about five more cars.

"Like what you see?" he joked, grabbing the keys from the side and ushering her towards the car.

Adelaide never owned a car, but if she could, she would want this one.

"It's a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1," Luke told her. Opening the car door for her, Adelaide slid in, loving the feel of leather against her skin. He looked at her from outside her window, and saw the dreamy eye look she gave the car and his ego took a great hit. He loved how she liked his car.

"Who are we supporting?" she asked him as he entered the car.

"A friend of mine, I already told you this," he replied, turning on the ignition. The car made a 'vroom' sound and Adelaide watched Luke reverse the car and out the garage.

"What's he going to do?" she asked.

"Something, but I think you'd enjoy watching," he said. He winked at her before pressing the gas pedal and the car sped up, the speed increasing per second. Adelaide didn't complain, she loved the feeling of fast cars.

"You know, I'm surprised you're not screaming at me to go slower."

She shook her head. "When I was younger, I had this bodyguard that took me to school everyday and he would go fast, always wanting to beat the red light."

Luke smiled at that. "You're parents didn't get mad?"

"They fired him when they found out," she told him. Adelaide looked out at the window, the trees going by in a blur. "My parent's usually find out about everything, even if I'm careful."

Luke sensed the double meaning in her statement and briefly glanced at her. He grabbed one of her hands as one stayed on the steering wheel.

"I'm glad you're taking that risk with me," he said, "But don't you worry, you're parents won't find out about anything-" Adelaide was about to interrupt when he intertwined their hands.

"I was able to get you out of that house after I said I could, didn't I?" he asked. Adelaide nodded, biting her lip as she listened to what he would say next.

He gripped her hand tighter and when the stop light turned red, he pressed the breaks on the car. He tilted his body in order to face her.

"I want you to trust me on this."

"Why should I trust you?" she asked.

"Because ever since you've met me, your life has turned a little bit better hasn't it?"

Adelaide nodded once again. The truth was spilling out from him, and his voice was sincere.

"Now, I want you to trust me, Sweet. Don't question my actions, I wouldn't spend this much time on you if I didn't think you were worth the effort." He took a deep breath and loosened the grip he had on her hand.

"Trust me?" he asked.

Adelaide muttered a small spanish curse under her breath before gripping his hand tightly.

Luke smiled at that, pressing the gas as the stop light turned green.

"Good."
