The Bar
~The Next Day~
Namjoon checks his appearance in the mirror. Yoongi said that it's more casual, so nothing too fancy, but still look decent. Jimin's already met Namjoon in the business world, he already knows that Namjoon is very professional. This is his chance to show Jimin that he's fun too.
He lets out a long sigh, trying to calm himself, but it's impossible. He's not sure why, but he's on edge. There's this feeling inside him that something strange is gonna happen tonight. Of course, he doesn't know what, but it'd be nice to. Is Jimin planning something? Is that why Joon's so on edge? Based on what Namjoon knows about Jimin, that man always has something up his sleeve.
Regardless, he makes sure he's all dressed and ready, exiting his lonely house and going out to his garage to slip into his red Corvette
Despite the meeting being "casual," Namjoon is going in his sports car. He has to flex a little bit, especially with his new partner there. He has to prove to Jimin he's a worthy partner. Jimin doesn't seem the type to care about wealth with his friends, but in the business world it's important, so Namjoon needs to show both his friendly and professional side tonight.
Namjoon sighs, starting his car and opening his garage. Namjoon doesn't like driving. The only reason why he ever got his license is because he lives alone. If he didn't, he'd be someone who never drives. Yoongi once told him he shouldn't drive for the good of the world, and Namjoon honestly agrees.
He pulls out of his garage, plugging the address into his Bluetooth GPS and driving away. It's only a good five minutes away, so he doesn't have much time to go into his thoughts. He hums a little bit to himself, the radio softly playing some new pop song he doesn't care about as he drives.
The five minutes pass like a blur. Soon enough, Namjoon pulls into the paved lot that's surprisingly smooth and well-painted. It's a rather nice place; it looks two times larger than Namjoon would've thought it'd be. With potted plants out front and a glowing sign welcoming him in, Namjoon feels a twinge of comfort hit his core. In a way, it reminds him of the days he would go out with his parents to new local restaurants. He was a picky eater and only ate if the place had cheeseburgers with crispy fries.
Namjoon shrugs at the lack of cars as he parks. He double checks himself in his rearview mirror before departing the vehicle.
He's surprised to see Hoseok getting out of his at the same time. Although maybe he shouldn't be surprised considering there are a total of nine cars, including Namjoon's, in the entire lot.
"Evening, boss," Hoseok jokes.
"Namjoon," he corrects with an amused grin.
Hoseok playfully rolls his eyes. "Right, sorry, Namjoon. Ready to go tease the hell out of Yoongi for being in love?"
Namjoon hums and follows Hoseok over to the glass front door that has the hours painted on it in white. They peek at each other in the reflection of the door before opening it, Hoseok offering Namjoon to go in first. He politely accepts, then thanks Hobi and observes the bar.
It's mostly wooden. The bar with many chairs (yes, chairs instead of stools) is set up on their right side along with a couple pool tables in the back. It's bigger than Namjoon thought it would be, but he'd never complain about that. He notices Jimin, Yoongi, Jin, and two other faces are already here. Looks like Hoseok and Namjoon are last.
"I'm surprised Jimin got here before you two, he's the one who's always late," Yoongi grumbles.
"Whenever I'm late it's because I'm showering, I swear!"
"Nah, it's because he's jerking off in the bathroom," one of the new faces says.
"Kim Taehyung!" Jimin says in a hiss, and the boy, Taehyung, laughs at his friend's expense.
Namjoon and Hoseok share a glance before shrugging and stepping closer, taking their seats at the bar. Of course, Namjoon is seated next to Jimin and sandwiched in between the unicorn man and the other new face.
Namjoon offers his hand to the new one. "Kim Namjoon."
"Jeon Jungkook, this is Kim Taehyung," Jungkook introduces as he shakes Namjoon's hand. His doe-like eyes widen. "Holy shit, those thighs!"
"Ignore him please," Jimin interrupts, and Namjoon decides to oblige.
Taehyung shakes Namjoon's hand as well, and Hoseok sits down in between Jin and Yoongi. Taehyung's on the end, then Jungkook, then Namjoon, then Jimin, then Yoongi, then Hoseok, then Jin. Perfect order. At least Hoseok can maybe keep some peace between Yoongi and Jin.
Maybe.
"So Namjoon, these two are the ones we were talking about yesterday. The ones who need to man up and get together already," Jimin explains, pointing to Taehyung and Jungkook.
"Ohh, those are the two you paid to go out to get ice cream?" Namjoon asks, and Jimin hums.
Jungkook fiddles with his fingers while Taehyung grunts.
"You're never letting us go, are you?" Taehyung asks. "What if I decide to not like men anymore? What then?"
Jimin makes a fake frowny face and changes his voice to sound like he's babying Taehyung. "Oh, Tae, honey... you're gayer than me and I just got railed by Yoongi last night."
"Damn right he did."
Everyone turns to peer at a smirking Yoongi, who takes a sip from his drink. Speaking of drinks, two older people—a man and a woman—stroll inside the bar and approach.
"You have perfect timing, give me the strongest thing you have," Namjoon says with a huff.
The older woman chuckles and turns to the older man. "Looks like our girl is making new friends."
Namjoon furrows his brows but doesn't question it.
"Where is she, by the way?" Jimin asks. "I wanted to surprise her by being here."
The woman pats the air with her wrinkly hand. "No clue, hopefully she'll be here soon."
Namjoon clears his throat. "Who are we talking about?"
Yoongi snorts. "Jimin's 'assistant'."
Namjoon's heart bolts upright, but before he can say anything else, the older woman grabs a glass and places it in front of Namjoon.
"Whiskey?" she offers.
"Sure. On the rocks, please."
She hums, quickly doing her job before placing the liquid in front of him.
"Thank you again for having us, grandma," Jimin says, which causes Namjoon to whip toward him and raise a brow.
"No problem, son. You're always welcomed here. Our regulars might come in at some point though, so I hope you don't mind talking to new people," she replies.
Jimin snickers. "Are you kidding? I love people. I'm meeting three new people right now and I think they all like me so far."
"Key word: think," Jin says in a groan.
"Oh ouch, is someone jealous that I stole Yoongi?" Jimin teases, causing Jin to narrow his eyes.
"Boys, boys," Hoseok interrupts with a huff, "calm down."
The unicorn haired man bites his lower lip before extending his hand to Hoseok. "I'm Jimin, but I'm sure a smart man such as yourself figured that out by now."
Hoseok does a factory reset before shaking Jimin's hand. "U-uh... Jung Hoseok. Hobi for short."
"Are you flirting right in front of me?" Yoongi asks in disbelief.
Jimin smirks. "Depends."
"On what?"
"If I say yes, do I get punished tonight?"
"Oh my God." "Why are we here?" "Why am I friends with him again?" "I need another shot."
At the chorus of groans from the others, Jimin's "grandparents" sigh. "We'll be back in a minute to check on you," the grandfather says. The older couple practically spring out of there despite their age.
"Wait, I thought Jimin was the alpha?" Hoseok asks as soon as the grandparents are out of earshot.
"I am, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy being thrown around. Think about it, when we get older, don't the childish things appeal to you more?" Jimin asks.
Jungkook tilts his head. "Well, I guess so? Like what?"
"Playing in the parks, play dates... spanking."
"Can we kick him out?" Namjoon asks, and Jin rapidly nods in agreement.
"I think that's for the best," Taehyung says as he facepalms.
"Don't kick me out," Jimin says with a pout. He gives Hoseok puppy eyes. "Please tell them to be nice to me."
Hoseok seems to have a little bit of a gay moment before he turns toward the others. "Guys, be nice to him."
"Oh no, we lost him. We lost Hoseok to the power of the Jimin Effect," Taehyung cries.
"The fucking what?" Jin asks in horror.
"The Jimin Effect. He snatches straight men left and right just through his looks and gazes. Oh, and gay men. And lesbians. And... everyone," Jungkook explains.
"I be that pretty motherfucker man," Jimin says with a cocky smirk as he leans back in his chair.
Namjoon regrets leaving his house. "Anyway, literally any other topic. These are your grandparents?"
Jimin shakes his head and purses his plump lips. "Not mine, but they're my best friend's grandparents. I see them as much as she does, so I call them that. I call her parents mom and dad too. We grew up together, so..."
Okay, Namjoon's not that stupid.
He's stupid, but he's not so stupid that he can't put two and two together. He stares at Jimin, and the man turns to stare back.
"What?"
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," Namjoon mutters.
Jimin taps his fingers against his chin. "Hey babe, is your friend always this cryptic?"
"A little," Yoongi replies.
Namjoon brushes it off. "Sorry, never mind."
"No, no, please do enlighten us. We're partners now, Mr. Kim. In fact, I even know who I'm going to send as your ambassador. So do feel free to tell us anything. We're legally obligated to keep it confidential," Jimin says.
Namjoon finds the courage to sigh. "I mean it, you wouldn't believe me."
Jimin chuckles. "Try me."
The others nod in agreement, but at the same time, Hoseok and Jin gaze at him with concern while Yoongi knits his brows together in confusion.
Namjoon musters up the strength in his tongue to fire out the words. "Well, I've been having these... dreams."
"Dreams?" Jin asks in a higher tone than normal.
"Not just any dreams: lucid dreams. Every night for almost two weeks now, I've had them. In the same place, with the same person."
The others share a glance, then meet Namjoon's eyes again.
"I'm always right outside Park Corporations, and you're there, Jimin, working in your office. There's crowds and other people, but none of them ever talk. Except for one. She doesn't think I'm real. I don't think she's real either, but based on what you're telling me... I think the girl I've been seeing is your assistant."
There's a heavy silence in the group at the end of Namjoon's explanation, then, Jimin laughs as if to blow off steam.
"I... okay, you're right, I don't believe you-"
"Her name is Y/n L/n, isn't it?" Jimin's face falls, and everyone goes still as soon as the name leaves his lips. "Well? Her name is Y/n, right-"
He's cut off by the front door opening, a loud creak entering the room.
"Jimin?" the scarily familiar female voice asks. Jimin turns, and so does Namjoon. "Jimin what are you..." She trails off as her eyes meet Namjoon's, and her entire body stiffens.
Standing near the front door, mere feet away, is Y/n L/n.

A/N: I really want to finish this story soon. There are only fifteen chapters total and all I have to do is edit them. I copy and pasted all of them over into Wattpad now, so all that's left is making the changes then publishing. I'll try my best to finish it this month!
I like this story a lot because of how cute it is. It's a nice break from my normally angsty stuff, even though I wrote this almost three years ago. I have another Namjoon story in my drafts that I hope I can write in 2024. It's a Namjoon war story that has been sitting in my drafts for literally years. Stay tuned for that!
