Ambassador
~Three Days Later~
"You're serious?"
Jimin nods. "A hundred percent."
Namjoon glances back and forth between Y/n and Jimin. The girl gives him a cute salute.
"What? You think you'll get distracted with me working next to you, Mr. Kim?" Y/n teases.
"I thought you were his assistant?" Namjoon asks.
"Yeah well Tae and Jungkook are more stubborn than me, so I figured I'd make her your ambassador and Kook my assistant. Those two aren't gonna get together no matter how hard I try, apparently," Jimin says with a sigh.
"You're playing Cupid right now, aren't you?" Namjoon asks, and Jimin freezes. The man seems surprised that Namjoon caught on so quickly.
"Uh... maybe."
Namjoon doesn't even bother with signing in disappointment. "Okay then, unicorn hair."
Jimin stomps on the ground with his tiny feet. "You know what? I'm going back to black, I'm tired of this slander!"
Y/n snickers. "You did slay the black haired look."
"Awh, is Y/n helplessly in love with me? Sorry princess, I'm gay and taken."
Y/n rolls her eyes. "Namjoon?"
"Yes?"
"Why did you want a partnership with him of all people?"
Namjoon shakes his head. "Believe it or not, when it comes to business, he's pretty good. He gave me a run for my money in that meeting."
Jimin smirks. "I was going easy on you. Only reason why you won was because of a third party. Yoongi is my precious, don't mess with him."
"You've been dating for like two minutes," Namjoon points out.
"More like three," Jimin whines, his lips forming a pout.
"Ugh, we get it, you're cute," Y/n says with a grunt. "If you'll excuse Namjoon and I, we have some very important work to attend to. Jimin?" He nods. "Thank you for trusting me with this. Now go get back to the office. You have three meetings today, one of which is in half an hour, and knowing you, you'll need every minute to prepare."
"Damn, good assistant," Namjoon mutters, causing Y/n to smile.
"You're not my assistant now, princess. Congratulations, you don't have to deal with me anymore."
"Thank God," she whispers, turning on her heel and walking inside the building.
Namjoon can't help but stare as she goes, but the unicorn man can't let him do anything in peace.
Jimin snorts. "Dude, you're helplessly in love with her. Well, not helplessly. Actually yeah—helplessly. You're both drooling over each other but neither of you will make a move. Of course."
"What if we did already?"
He laughs. "Seriously? You want me to believe that my dear Y/n made a move? Or you? I know a lot of men like you, and my new assistant is one of them." Jimin gives Namjoon a small smile. "You're a damn good guy, Joon. I know you'll take care of her... but first you have to work up the courage to ask her out."
Namjoon gawks in amazement, surprised that Jimin is being so kind and even calling him "Joon."
Jimin pats Namjoon on the shoulder. "Don't be a pussy," he says before dropping his hand and walking out of the building.
Well, looks like it's time for Namjoon to deal with his new ambassador...

"Why are you doing it like this?"
Namjoon furrows his brows at you. "It's how we've always done it."
"You're slowing down the recruitment process by two percent," you explain, but it falls on deaf ears.
"Paper has always been the way it's been done."
You shake your head, pulling out your laptop from your bag and opening it. Almost immediately, you find all your files, bringing them up and turning your screen so he can see it.
"You should have both digital and paper, makes for more production. Not in the office? You still have access to those files. Need to email them to a supervisor? Just attach a file instead of sending a picture. Or if you somehow lose a file you have a backup stored digitally. Doesn't take that long to put into the database. It may sound like a waste of time, but with proper training, this method would increase productivity."
You bite back your smug smile as you continue, "It's how Park Corporations has always done it."
He returns your expression, holding in his laughter. "Miss L/n," he starts, placing both hands on the desk and leaning closer to you. "With all due respect, you were sent as an advisor, not as a worker. You're not here to tell us how to do things, you're here to make sure we're doing them. There's a difference."
Good. He fell right into your trap.
He looks amazed as you pull up another file that shows the contract Jimin and Namjoon signed.
"Section 3B, line 10. Ambassadors are allowed to make suggestions if something appears off. This, Mr. Kim, is off. Using only paper? Ooh, I don't know, sounds problematic. If you lose an application, you'll have a very pissed off potential worker. Trust me, I used to be a recruitment manager, I know this stuff."
Namjoon smirks, coming even closer. "It's how we've always done it, Miss L/n. If it's how we've always done it, then I argue nothing is off about this situation."
You bite your lower lip and don't take your eyes off him. He's so close yet so far.
"Mr. Kim, are we flirting or fighting?"
"I'm calling you Miss L/n."
"That doesn't answer my question."
He chuckles, backing away before grabbing his phone from his pocket. You watch as he dials a number, placing the device against his ear.
"Jin?" There's a pause, a distant voice heard over the speaker, but you can't quite make it out. "Yes, I'm going to need our recruitment manager to spend extra time with Miss L/n. We're changing the way we do the recruitment process. She's discovered a flaw. Please send him up to me."
Without another word, he hangs up and shoves his phone back into his pocket.
"Well, maybe you're pretty useful after all," he says.
"I'd say you're getting distracted... Mr. Kim."
His lips tug up into a smile at your teasing, him placing his hand on the edge of the desk. "I guess we'll have to finish this discussion later... in our dream world, perhaps?"
"Raincheck it is. See you tonight, Joonie. Oh, am I still allowed to call you that?"
"We're business partners, Miss L/n, so I'd say Mr. Kim," he replies.
You lean forward, feeling a stroke of confidence hit you. Must be your inner Jimin calling again.
"With all due respect, I think we're much, much more than just business partners... sir." His left eye twitches, a hint of amusement in his expression. "Unless you make out with all your workers."
"It wasn't... making out," he says, but it sounds weak as it passes his lips.
"Then what was it? That second kiss especially was very, very passionate, Mr. Kim."
"Where is our recruitment manager, I need an excuse to leave."
"What happened to the flirty Joon in the private room? Or are you just waiting to reenact that later in our dream?"
He pauses for a moment to stare at you. "Bold today, are we?"
You chuckle and sit back in your chair. "I'm best friends with Jimin, what do you expect? You said you're a man who knows what he wants. I'm a woman who knows what I want, and I want you. Of course I want to take it slow, but I'm not going to pretend there's nothing between us when even Min Yoongi of all people can see that there is."
Namjoon's lips slowly spread up into a smile just as the door opens.
"You called, sir?" a male voice says.
"Yes, I did. This is Miss L/n, you'll be working very closely with her from now on." Namjoon turns to face the man, giving him a stern look. "But I'll warn you, not too closely. I know you're a flirt, Mr. Lee." He walks over and pats the man on the shoulder. "Good luck, and don't touch what's mine."
Without another word, he strolls out of the office, leaving you alone with Mr. Lee. The new man is shell-shocked, staring at you with his mouth in the shape of an o.
"Are... you two dating?" he asks.
You laugh. "Permission to curse?"
"You're technically my superior," he says. You hum, giving him an amused look.
"Honestly, Mr. Lee, I have no fucking idea."
~~~
The flirting is getting out of hand at this rate.
Namjoon bites his nails, watching as the girl does her nightly "dream yoga." She's humming to herself and basking in the night sky while Namjoon sits underneath her.
A lot of their dreams go like this: him sitting while she's in her own world. It seems like she's in her own world often. Not that that's a bad thing, it just piques his curiosity is all. What's going on in that gorgeous brain of hers?
He gazes at her peacefully closed eyes and admires her gorgeous face.
So, he's attracted to her. She's hands down the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. They have a strong physical connection, that much was proven by their kiss in the private room. As for emotional connection, Namjoon feels like she knows him well despite them not talking much outside of this dreamscape.
She knows that he's lonely, and he knows that she is too. Lonely people finding each other often makes for a powerful connection, but he didn't think it'd be this powerful.
Part of him wants to try and kiss her in the dreamscape to see what it feels like, but another part of him is telling him to wait for the real world. He should wait for when he's ready to make her his. Actually, that's a good point. What's holding him back?
"Alright, you're being quieter than Yoongi. What's going on?" she asks, floating down and letting her bare feet touch the grass.
"How do you know so much about Yoongi?" Namjoon asks with an amused smile, but that's mostly to dodge her original question.
"Dating my childhood best friend, remember? Not only do I see them after work hours, but I hear all the details from Jimin over the phone at night." She pauses to point her finger at him as if accusing him of something. "Now don't dodge the question. What's going on?"
Dammit, she's good. Good at more than just her job; she's good at reading him. That's one of the main reasons he's so attracted to her. She can guess what he's feeling based on one look.
"Nothing really, just in a peaceful mood."
He doesn't want to lie to her, but telling her that she's been the only thing on his mind since their kiss sounds creepy, not cute. Or maybe he's overreacting. He doesn't want to find out.
"You work with Jin, I highly doubt life is ever peaceful," she says as she sits next to him.
He snorts. "Fair enough, but Jin's a good friend, believe it or not. A really good friend."
"History there?" she asks, leaning closer. He looks up at her, seeing her face only about a foot away. It shocks him to say the least, but he forces his blush down so he can focus.
"We've been in the business world together for as long as I can remember. In a way, I guess he's my best friend. And Jin's almost like an overprotective mom over all our friends, but me in particular. We may bicker like an old married couple, but we love each other."
"I'm glad you have such a great friend. You deserve the world, Joonie."
He smiles at the name and peers right into her eyes. They stare for a few moments, her letting out a breath at his silence.
"If you want to kiss me, I won't stop you," she says.
How in the living fuck is she so good at reading his mind?
He nods but doesn't verbally reply. Again, it goes quiet, him debating his options while gazing at her. A full minute passes, causing her to sigh.
"Are you going to kiss me or do I have to do it myself?" she asks.
"I... Y/n..."
"I know we said take it slow, but it's been three days since our kiss and... fuck, you haven't left my mind."
"You haven't left mine either."
"Then what are you waiting for?"
Namjoon averts his eyes, unable to take the eye contact anymore. "I don't know..."
She goes quiet for a moment. "I'll wait for you."
He snaps back up at that. "Huh?"
"I'll wait for you. If you're not ready, then I'll wait. I don't mind. I'm serious about you, Joon. I hope you're serious about me."
He doesn't even hesitate. "I am."
She smiles. "Then I'll wait."
He gives her an expression of gratitude before scooting closer, motioning for her to rest her head on his shoulder. She does, softly sighing as soon as the deed is done.
"I'm serious about you," he whispers, kissing the top of her head. He can feel her quiet laugh. She closes her eyes as the moonlight shines on them to paint them in a sheet of serenity.
Finally, he's not lonely anymore.
A/N: Not Joon claiming Y/n as his own but can't even bring himself to kiss her-
He's like those edaters on discord who talk such a big game to their partners then irl they can't even process handholding.
