Imagine going to work on a normal day but it gets ruined by someone from the past

Hi I'm Y/N for the past 3 years I have been friends with Angus MacGyver and as a girl wishes to date Angus from love at first sight it wasn't like that but I had a huge crush on him and he did as well but he was scared to ask me out so he dated a girl called Nikki, only because he didn't know I liked him back, a few months after Jack, Mac and I all joined the Phoenix Foundation by being hired by someone called Oversight and got ordered to obey and take direct orders from Patricia Thornton.

I am more like Mac than I care to believe but the only thing that separated us was our hobbies since he like to fiddle and fix things and I prefer to either draw or to bake when I was bored or wanted something to bake on our days off with the help of his friend Bozer of course since he claimed to be the best chef in the house so we just let him keep his crown for now

Jack and Mac got used to Patricia after few months but I couldn't since I had this bad feeling about her but that was natural for me since I have always had trust issues since I was little but she wasn't the only one I didn't trust I never trusted our hacker Nikki I always felt like she was hiding something from us but also the fact the she kept flirting with Mac when she clearly knew I had crush on him just to make me jealous that much more.

Mac found it adorable that I was unamused about what the mission was but what annoyed me was that he was oblivious to the fact that it wasn't the mission I was unamused at it was the fact they acted all lovey dovey.

We sat in the war room and Patricia got us briefed on our mission while Mac stood and listening while picking up a few paperclips from the bowl on the desk while standing behind me who was sitting on the couch listening but didn't look interested.

"This one doesn't seem that bad it looks fun" Mac chuckled looking down at me with an amused smile and gave him a look like 'are you serious' causing him to laugh.

"It's not as bad as Cairo I'll give you that" I muttered quietly closing my eyes but still listened, you always rated the missions from Cairo to a simple collect and return which always goes bad no matter how smoothly it started out.

"Hey, we don't talk about Cairo, ok? its classified and I would like to keep it that way" Jack replied instantly looking at me causing me to chuckle slightly.

The mission went smoothly all until the point where Nikki turned out to be a bad seed and traded the biological bomb to a world class trader who was going to sell it. When it got handed over Nikki got shot then me, as I fell into the nearby lake Mac joined me soon after as to see if I wasn't dead but getting shot in the process but not as bad as mine.

5 years later

After 2 years after the accident Mac finally got over Nikki and got up the courage and asked me out and in everyone's opinion it was the best choice he ever made since he was his bright chipper self again plus a bit more since nothing changed while we were in the war room or out in the field.

We had and are still having a happy relationship after 3 years and I got used to Riley more than I did with Nikki which weirded Jack out a bit since he knew I had a bad time trusting people especially if it was a newbie on the team and a new boss Maddy Webber

"Mac, don't you think it's weird that your girlfriend is acting more sociable with Riley than she did with Nikki I mean come on" Jack spoke to Mac after pulling him aside away from the war room before he walked in

"Maybe she doesn't have a bad vibe off her like she did with Nikki I don't know but it is kind of weird" Mac spoke up shrugging slightly just as Riley walked past hearing them.

"Is that a good thing?" Riley asked walking over causing Mac to shrug again.

"Yes, I think but it just shows you that she likes you that is all" Mac smiled before being ordered in by the boss or 'Maddy the Hun' as Jack prefers to call her.

I lazily laid on the couch and listened since I never really like the briefing, Maddy got used to my attitude after a while since she soon realised, I still was a good agent no better than Mac, but it was a compliment and I accept it since it was rare.

"Ok guys we are dealing a terrorist in Lisbon Spain our intel shows that he wants to kill the president at one of his annual talks to the country" Maddy spoke as she showed the pictures on the screen "Since this is normally the CIA's job to handle but anyone who got close to the terrorist they died a few days before moving in to apprehend him so you will be working with a miss Nikki Carpenter" she added showing her face and I shot up from the couch and proceeded to get up and walk to the door before Mac stopped me holding me close against his chest so I couldn't move

"Let me go Mac or I will hurt you" I said into his chest as I tried to get out of his grip, but he just held me tighter.

"No cause whether you like it or not we are doing this mission" he replied as motioned Maddy to continue but she was more curious since she didn't catch on to the fact we were dating since we hardly showed it at work.

"Why don't you like Miss Carpenter?" she questioned turning to face them fully.

"Mac's ex and she made Y/N's life a living hell when they started dating each other and seeing Mac happier than when he was dating Nikki" Jack responded just as Nikki walked through the door look smug as per usual but the second I hear the door shut I winded Mac causing him to let go of me and I made my escape to the door, I ran to the lab to join Bozer but it was mostly just to hide out until she left but to Mac it looked like I ran out of the building

"Was it something I did?" Nikki questioned confused as she looked at Jack and the team then at Mac who was panting slightly from running came back and glared at her.

"if she's out so, am I" Mac spoke calmly yet seriously as he looked at Maddy, but she refused because she couldn't lose her best agent over some lover's quarrel that happened 5 years ago.

"She can't be still mad at me after all of that I explained myself and did what I had to so I could get Chrysalis out into the open" she spoke out turning to him.

"While faking your death and became a fugitive of the law while also breaking Mac's heart, it took him 2 years to find someone else and when he did you kept sabotaging his relationship" Jack added when she was done glaring at her.

"And from what it looks like it was the little nerd" she shot back calmly but Mac could sense the hint of jealousy in her voice because she still loved Mac even after everything that had happened.

"Ma'am we have found Agent Harley she is currently in the lab talking to Agent Bozer" Lily (god rest her innocent soul you will be missed) spoke after walking in a few minutes later causing Mac to leave before Maddy gave him the order but she wasn't happy that this was delaying the mission a lot, but she needed to make sure she had all her pieces ready before dismissing them.

When Mac got to the lab in record time he checked to see if I was alright as well as I since I did hurt him before "I'm sorry baby I didn't mean to hurt as much as it intended to be I just didn't want to be in the same room and or mission as her" I apologised into his chest knowing it would be muffled enough so only Mac could hear and it wouldn't be heard through security cameras either

"Don't worry you not the only one who doesn't want to do this but it is work baby" he muttered quietly into your neck as he wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me close "I'll make it up to you, we will turn off our phones and go to your flat straight after we get back and then watch movies, eat all the junk food and takeaways you want forgetting all about this mission and what's been said through it ok?" he added softly

"But what if it isn't a one-time thing? what if she come back in a different mission?" I questioned into his chest as I slowly looked up at him as he moved his head to do the same.

He smiled softly and pecked my lips softly "then we will cross that bridge when we come to it but in the meantime we are dealing with it now and even if it means you are clingy to me when aren't in a dire situation then so be it" Mac muttered lovingly as he kissed me softly while Bozer watched the cute scene in front of him he grinned and took a few pictures to add the little album that mac started to make when we started dating.
