Summary: Gilbert comes back after 8 months and is reunited with Y/n.

Summary: Gilbert comes back after 8 months and Y/n is really happy to see him. After Class, Gilbert offers to walk Y/n home and feelings end up being shared :)

"I still don't think, it was the greatest idea." Diana said as Y/n and Anne followed her into the school house that seemed to be filled with chatter.

"It was worth it." Y/n smiled as they began to take off their coats and scarves and put them onto the racks. Y/n looked up to see everyone else crowding around in the middle of the class room.

"Hey, what's going on?" Y/n asked Anne who also looked confused. "No idea." Diana muttered and they began to walk towards the crowd.

"Excuse me." Y/n said as she made her way through the crowd with Anne and Diana following. They noticed that the boys seemed to be surrounding someone.

"Hey, what happened?" Y/n asked curiously. The boys cleared away and Gilbert Blythe walked out. Y/n felt her breath catch in her throat as she looked at him. He had looked a little older than when she had last seen him. He was taller and his curls had gotten longer.

"Y/n." Gilbert sighed and she stood silently as she continued to look over him. He smiled shyly at her and she then walked closer towards him.

She punched him in the arm, "Ow, what was that for?!" He questioned. "For not telling me you were here sooner!" She exclaimed and he just looked at her sadly. She then smiled widely at him and pulled him into a hug.

He accepted the hug hesitantly but relaxed when he felt her familiar touch. "I missed you so much." She sighed as she buried her face into his chest.

Y/n hadn't even realized that the rest of her classmates were still standing watching the two of them. "Gilbert and Y/n!" Y/n then moved away from Gilbert to see Mr. Phillips walk into the room.

"This is no place for public displays of affection, everyone take your seats." Mr. Phillips ordered and everyone hurried to their assigned seats.

Y/n sat down and immediately looked over to see Gilbert already looking at her. "We'll talk after class?" She mouthed and he nodded with a smile.

Y/n looked up to the front to see Mr. Phillips writing some questions onto the chalk board. "Open your readers and begin." Mr. Phillips said and Y/n groaned as she opened her book.

Class was finally over and Y/n was standing by the door, buttoning up her coat. "You guys go on without me, Gilbert's gonna walk me home." Y/n smiled at Anne and Diana.

"Give us the details later." Anne teased and Y/n chuckled. She waved at them as they walked out and Gilbert walked over to her.

"You ready?" He asked and she nodded shyly. Gilbert held the door open for her and she walked out.

They began to walk through the forest in silence as the chilly air blew around them. "I forgot how cold it is here." Gilbert
shivered and rubbed his mitten covered hands together.

"How was Trinidad?" She asked and looked over to him. "I was only there a while but it was beautiful." Gilbert sighed as he began to remember.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was coming, I wanted to surprise you." Gilbert stopped walking and put his hand on the back of his neck.

Y/n stopped walked and looked at him, "It's ok." She smiled. They began to walk again, "You know, you seem different...." Gilbert said.

She snorted, "In a good way or bad way?" She joked. "Definitely a good way." Gilbert smirked and she blushed. "You're still the same, always flirting with everyone." She replied looking down at her boots as she walked.

"I don't flirt with everyone, I only flirt with people I like." He sighed and she stopped dead in her tracks. She turned around and he looked at her.

"Did you just-" She said stammering as she didn't know how to finish her sentence. "Yea, I did. I know this is sudden and everything but, I do like you Y/n. A lot actually." He sighed now feeling better for letting it off his chest.

She just stared at him with her mouth slightly agape. He began to walk closer to her, "I didn't necessarily want to come back to Avonlea but, something changed my mind." He said as he stood now only an once from her.

"You changed my mind." He breathed and she felt her heart race even quicker than it already was. "You always had a way with words." She sighed as she looked down at his lips and then back up at his eyes.

She then began to close the distance between them. She closed her eyes and Gilbert placed his mitten covered hand onto her cheek. He pulled her face closer to his until their lips finally touched.

Their lips were chapped from the cold air but they didn't care. The kiss was warm and so sweet that they couldn't think about anything else.

They pulled away with rosy cheeks and their foreheads softly touching. They stared into each other's eyes they moved away.

She looked up at him shyly, "Well, that just happened." Y/n said awkwardly as her cheek went even more red from embarrassment. Gilbert thought it was the cutest thing he had ever seen.

Y/n bit her lip as she began to walk again to try and avoid the awkward tension. They walked in silence as they got closer to her house.

The snow crunches underneath their feet and birds sang through the air. They came up the trail to Y/n's house and stood in front of her door.

Y/n began to go up to her door, "Y/n?" Gilbert questioned before she opened the door. "Yes?" She asked turning around and he smiled at her shyly. "Would you maybe want to hang out sometime?" He asked nervously and she smirked.

"Weren't we just hanging out?" She teased and Gilbert blushed. "I mean, hang out as in a date...." Gilbert replied now feeling flustered.

"I would love to." She smiled widely and he sighed of relief. She walked over to him and placed a kiss on his cheek.

Then turned around and ran to the door. "See you later!" She called over her shoulder and hurried inside.

Gilbert watched as she went inside and smiled to himself. His heart hammered rapidly in his chest and his palms were sweaty but he couldn't stop smiling.

A/n: oof, hello!!! I still suck at ending imagines but what else is new? Sorry I haven't updated in a while, I'm now in my second week of Junior Year and it's already stressful so that's great.
