Chapter 8- The college Soccer Team

Ricky woke up first that morning, remembering what had happened the night before. He also noticed that during the night, Blaze had cuddled up to him, which would make it hard to get up without waking her up as well. He could hear her breathing softly as she slept, and he admired how cute she looked while she did. Trying his absolute best not to wake her up, he slowly lifted himself up, not making a sound. He was almost up when suddenly he heard Blaze mumble something quietly. Her eyes opened slightly, and when she saw Ricky, she smiled at him.
"Good morning, Blaze."
He said sheepishly as he sat up, not seeing a need for being quiet anymore.
"Morning..."
She mumbled back, still evidently tired.
"I'm sorry- I didn't mean to wake you. I was hoping I wouldn't disturb you."
He replied.
"Too late..."
She said, sitting up next to him, yawning.
He chuckled, pulling her closer to him and giving her a soft kiss on the cheek.
"It's still early if you want to go back to sleep- I'll wake you later on."
Blaze looked at the clock, reading 6:30.
"It's okay- I'm already wide awake now. I should probably start to get ready."
She replied.
He let her, and he made the pair breakfast. He decided to prepare the same pancakes he made for her not too long ago, and again, she really enjoyed them.
"You should really teach me how to cook these one day."
She told him as she ate.
"If you want me to, I will. I'd be glad to."
He replied.

The two finished getting ready and left for the college. Blaze rested her head on Ricky's shoulder on the way there, causing the three male friends to give them amused looks as they saw them approaching.
"Well, well well... What have we got here?"
Vincent asked, grinning with an eyebrow raised.
"So, you finally asked her?"
Ryan asked.
"Of course I did. You can tell what her answer was."
Ricky replied. Blaze looked confused.
"What are you talking about?"
She looked at Ricky for an explanation.
"Basically, I've been wanting to ask you out for a long time now. These three knew about it already."
He explained, causing the three of them to nod.
"I guess all there is to say is congratulations. We're sure you'll be happy together."
Charles added.
"Of course."
Blaze beamed a smile at him.

"Anyway, I've got some news that may interest you, Ricky."
Vincent said to him before handing him a poster. Richly looked at it and smiled.
"I'm in. And they're today too?"
"Yeah- after the day finishes."
Vincent replied.
Blaze looked at the poster, reading the words 'soccer tryouts' with colourful borders around it.
"I'm sure you'll do great. You seem like the athletic type."
Ryan observed.
"Thank you, Ryan. It's nice to know you have faith in me."
Ricky replied.

After the day finished, Vincent and Ricky set out to try out for the college soccer team. They had been looking forward to it all day- they both loved sports. With Blaze on the sidelines, she provided moral support for the pair.

The tryouts lasted about an hour and a half, with testing everybody's skills and putting together a practice game, in which Vincent and Ricky worked very well together in. Vincent came up with really accurate passes while Ricky and a Gallade named Brad scored the majority of the goals. At the end of the tryouts, the pair got their results.
"So? What did they say?"
Blaze asked, watching them come over.
"Well... We both got in!"
Ricky replied enthusiastically.
Blaze smiled and kissed him on the cheek.
"I knew you could do it."
He smiled.
"And I managed to get a striker position- so I can do all the goal scoring."
He replied.
"I'm playing as a midfielder. I don't mind playing there, and I'll be setting you up all the time Ricky, so you should train yourself to control fast, precise passes."
Vincent told him mockingly.
"Of course I will."
He replied, smiling.
"I was just kidding, but great."

The pair reached their apartment, and they decided to stay in Ricky's apartment tonight.
"So, what should we do?"
Ricky asked as Blaze yawned.
"I'm rather tired. I'm don't really want to do anything but relax..."
She replied lazily.
"Alright. We can do that."
He replied. He sat next to her on his couch, wrapping an arm around her as he turned in the TV.
"Are you comfortable there?"
He asked as she began to fall asleep. She mumbled something he couldn't make out.
"Good."
He replied, chuckling.

A few hours later, Ricky began to tire, getting ready to go to bed. He went to get up, but realised the Blaze had fallen asleep leaning against him.
"Hey, Blaze? It's time to go to bed, but you're going to have to get up."
She stretched, yawned and rubbed her eyes with her paws. Ricky chucked.
"Do you want me to carry you?"
She nodded slowly, her eyes still closed. He picked her up and carried her to his bedroom, carefully placing her on one side and giving her a soft kiss on the forehead before moving to the other side.

Before he could get too comfortable, she moved closer to him, resting her head on his chest while slowly rubbing it like the night before.
"I love it when you do that. It makes you look so much cuter."
He replied, gently rubbing her ears as she lay there. She whimpered quietly, making him smile.
"Goodnight, my pretty little fox. Sweet dreams."
She fell asleep soon after, her body heat keeping him warm on the relatively cold night.

The next morning, the Blaze was woken up by a cry of surprise from next to her.
"Blaze! Wake up!"
Ricky said, frantically moving around the room.
"What? What's wrong?"
She asked, still tired.
"We slept in! We'll be late!"
She looked at the clock, reading 8:23.
"Oh, no!"
She quickly got out of bed, beginning to get ready. It would take a miracle for them to make it in time now, and their chances of getting one of those seemed rather low.

They both ran down the hallway, trying their best to get to Their destination in time. The had never been late before, and if they could help it, they wouldn't start today...
