Chapter 19- A spooky celebration
As the battle tournament grew closer, there was still one event that was yet to transpire before it came about- Halloween. The night in which Pokemon, both young and old, can dress up to be whatever they like. Most turn into ghosts and ghouls of many kinds, but some prefer a cuter look.
Ricky and Blaze had both chosen a costume, but they weren't going trick or treating. They had been invited to a Halloween party at Vincent's home, and obviously it was a costume party. That was the purpose of Halloween, of course.
Blaze adjusted her hat, looking at her appearance in a mirror. She was dressing up as a witch this year, with a black dress and boots, and a hat with holes for her ears. She smiled as she examined her outfit, rather impressed by how she looked. Ricky on the other hand had settled on a werewolf costume, wearing ripped clothes and having a set of fangs to make it look more convincing. He adjusted them, feeling as though he had done all he could. He knocked on Blaze's door once he finished, seeing her outfit for the night for the first time when she opened it.
"Wow. You look so cute!"
He commented, smiling as she blushed a little.
"Thank you. You look very handsome yourself."
She replied. Ricky simply chuckled.
"I'm glad you think so. Should we go?"
Blaze nodded.
"We're a little early, but I think it'll be okay. I'd rather be early than late."
The two walked together through the streets, seeing young Pokemon dressed up as ghosts, skeletons and witches alike as their parents followed behind. It was fairly warm out, which was odd considering it was mid autumn, But the two were okay with it as they weren't exactly wearing the best clothing for a cold night.
They reached Vincent's house, walking up the stone path and knocking on the door. The door opened, but there was nobody there. It was completely dark as the two peered into the black void in from of them. It was then two eyes were visible, their sapphire gaze burning into Ricky's and Blaze's startled, inquiring stares. Before they could react, Vincent jumped out of the darkness, scaring both Ricky and Blaze. He laughed as they regained their composure. Ricky examined Vincent's outfit- he was wearing fangs, similar to Ricky. He was also wearing a dark cape, and was dressed rather fashionably.
"Well, you got us. I like your outfit, by the way."
Ricky commented.
"I'm glad you like it. It took me a while to decide whether to wear my cape under or over my mane."
The Zoroark replied as Ricky observed he had settled with putting it under. He used it to cover his face.
"I would make a great Vampire. I've already got the fangs for it."
Vincent continued.
"You also look fairly intimidating every day, much like most other dark and ghost types."
Ricky told him.
"Thank you. I take that as a compliment."
Vincent replied.
"You guys are a little early, though. I'm still getting a few things set up."
Vincent explained.
"Can we help?"
Ricky asked, causing Vincent to shake his head.
"Thanks for the offer, but I'd rather keep it as a surprise. Have you guys got anything to do while you wait?"
"No, but it's okay. We'll wait out here."
Blaze told him.
"Are you sure?"
Blaze nodded.
"We'll be fine. Don't worry about us."
Vincent nodded.
"Alright. I'll let you in as soon as I'm done, I promise."
He told them, heading hack inside.
A few minutes later, he opened the door again.
"You can come in now. Take a look."
The two entered the living room, looking at all of the decorations that had been hung up; bats, skeletons and ghosts were just some of the decorations hanging up. There was a food table and a stereo, which would be playing music throughout that party without a doubt. The two were impressed by all that was on display. They could tell that Vincent had worked hard to make everything look as scary as possible.
"This is great, Vincent. You did all of this yourself?"
Ricky asked.
"Yeah. I feel like Halloween was an event I'm supposed to be good at preparing for, being the dark type that I am. I was just about to finish when you got here."
He replied.
The three talked for a while before more Pokemon began to show up. Ryan, Charles and Rachel were there, as well as other friends Vincent had never mentioned. An hour after the two showed up, the party was in full swing. Having such a party gave Vincent sense of pride; it showed that
Pokemon of all kinds enjoyed such an event, and it seemed to be going well. Ricky bumped into Ryan while he was there.
"Oh, hey Ricky."
Ricky looked down to see the Quilava smiling at him.
"Hi Ryan. How are you doing?"
Ricky asked.
"Great, thank you."
He replied.
"So, the battle tournament starts in 2 days."
As if Ricky would forget.
"Yeah, I can't wait. Are you participating?"
Ryan nodded.
"Of course. I'm taking part in the doubles tournament."
He told Ricky, causing him to raise a brow.
"Really? Who are you battling with?"
Ricky was honestly curious to know.
"It's a secret!"
Ryan replied, grinning. Ricky was slightly disappointed.
"Oh, well I guess I'll see. Well, see you later Ryan."
Ryan waved him off as he went to find Blaze again.
He found her dazzling a small crowd with her fire and psychic abilities. She was using her power to channel flames into different shapes. Ricky had to agree that it was impressive. He watched her for a few minutes before Vincent pulled him aside.
"So, do you think we're ready for the tournament?"
He asked. Ricky nodded.
"We've trained hard over these past few days. We should be fine."
He put a paw on the Zoroark's shoulder.
"We've got this. Trust me. You should enjoy your party tonight though. You've done pretty well."
Ricky assured him.
"Thanks, Ricky. I'll see you around."
Vincent smiled before leaving. Ricky turned around to see Blaze walking up to him.
"That was quite a show you had going there. Why haven't you ever shown me any of that?"
Ricky asked.
"I didn't think it would interest you."
She replied.
"Are you kidding? That was great! You should show me what else you can do sometime."
Blaze smiled.
"Okay, maybe I will if you like it so much."
She told him.
The party continued for a long time before Pokemon finally began to leave. As more and more Pokemon left, it was just the three that had been there at the beginning.
"Do you want us to help you clean up?"
Ricky offered.
"No, it's okay. It's my house and my party, and therefore my responsibility."
Vincent replied.
"Alright then, we should probably go. It's getting late."
Ricky told him.
"Of course. You guys take care. I'll see you tomorrow."
The two waved him off as they left. There were no trick or treaters left in the street; Ricky guessed it was around midnight. He and Blaze returned to their apartments, ready for some much needed rest. The party had definitely been exciting, but everyone needs rest in time. Ricky and Blaze knew it all too well as they got ready to sleep, as tomorrow was another day. One day closer to the tournament, that was.
Thanks for reading guys! I just thought I'd make a short part for Halloween, even though you'll probably be reading this after it's over. Regardless of when you're reading it, I hope you had a great Halloween, and until next time, stay awesome and take care. And happy Halloween! 🎃
