Chapter 13- What friends are for
"What- what are you doing here?"
He asked, astonished, looking at Blaze's solemn expression.
"Nice to see you too."
She smiled weakly. She couldn't hold it back anymore- she threw herself into his arms, bursting into tears. He was even more surprised if possible at this point. Less than 24 hours ago she couldn't have cared about him less, and now here she was, burying her face into his chest in tears.
"Alright, alright."
He wrapped one arm around her and pet her softly with his other paw.
"Just calm down, alright? Let's sit down at least."
He slowly moved to the couch, sitting next to her as she continued to cry, now into his shoulder. He reassured her and continued to pet her softly, not knowing what else to do. After a few minutes, she began to calm down and slowly she wiped her tears away.
"There we go."
He smiled at her.
"Now can you tell me why you're so upset?"
She sobbed, just about controlling herself.
"I... I'm so ashamed... for how I treated you. You never did mean to hurt me, yet I've been a terrible friend, and a terrible girlfriend to you. I know I don't deserve you, but I just want you to know how sorry I am."
She replied, shedding another tear.
"I never stopped loving you, and I tried to tell you that I'd never hurt you like that."
He replied, gently rubbing her cheek.
"I should have listened... I feel terrible about what I did to someone who loved me so much..."
He smiled at her softly, showing sympathy and gentleness in his expression.
"You'll always be my pretty little fox. That won't ever change."
He told her, kissing her on the forehead.
"And I'd like to ask if you'll take me back."
She looked up at him, her glossy eyes gazing into his.
"Of course I will- it'll be as if I never lost you."
With that, she nuzzled his chest as he pet her, both of them feeling just as happy as they were the first time they agreed to be together. Nothing could ruin that moment, and thankfully, nothing did.
A few hours later after Blaze had gone home, Ricky heard another knock at the door. He opened it to see Blade smiling weakly at him.
"What do you want?"
Ricky snapped.
"And how do you know where I live?"
Blade continued to smile.
"Please listen to what I have to say. My name is Blade, and I'm a friend of Blaze's."
Ricky could have knocked his lights out at this point.
"And why should I believe you?"
Ricky retorted, shoving Blade back.
"Whoa, please just listen. Everything will make sense if you let me explain."
He continued.
"I never meant to hurt Blaze or you today. Blaze brought me here to get you together again."
Ricky threw a punch, but Blade dodged it.
"Liar! You're a rotten, dim witted liar! You must be dumb to think I'd believe that!"
Ricky replied, burning with anger. He tried to punch him again, but Blaze stopped him.
"Ricky, wait! He's telling the truth!"
She told him.
"I brought him here- Vincent told me how you felt, and I brought him here to help prove it. It's all true- he's a friend of mine."
Ricky didn't know where to start. He looked at Blade's gentle expression, frowning.
"I'm so sorry. I swear I thought you tried to hurt her today- if I'd just known-"
"No need to apologise. I understand. It's okay, really. Blaze told me you'd be angry, but it was all worth it to see you together again."
Ricky shook his paw.
"I haven't been able to talk to Blaze for days. Trust me, I've tried. I suppose I owe getting this chance to you. I really appreciate what you did. Thank you."
Ricky replied.
"I'm glad that I could help."
Blade turned to Blaze.
"He seems like a very kind Pokemon. I can see why you'd like him."
Blaze smiled.
"I love him more than you know."
She walked over to him and gave him a soft kiss on the cheek.
"And nothing will get between us again."
"That's right."
He replied, glad the entire situation was over. It has been the worst time of his life, and he couldn't be happier to have the love of his life back.
The next day at College, Vincent met Ricky in the hallway.
"Hey Ricky- I heard that you and Blaze got together again."
Ricky smiled at him.
"Yeah, we did. And I have you to thank for that. If you hadn't talked to her for me, I would have never got the chance."
Vincent smiled back, scratching the back of his head.
"I just did what I could to help. What happened yesterday had nothing to do with me."
Ricky frowned.
"You saw that?"
"Of course I did."
Vincent replied.
"I thought it was incredibly brave for you to step in for Blaze like that. I'm sure she appreciated it. She was speechless!"
Ricky shook his head.
"I'd rather forget that happened."
Vincent was slightly confused.
"Why? You were so brave. A lot of Pokemon will respect you a lot more after seeing that."
He replied.
"There's something I need to tell you about that actually."
Ricky told him. At that moment, Blaze happily walked across the hall, grabbing Ricky's paw on the way past.
"Cmon, Ricky. We're going to be late if you stand around all day."
She chirped happily.
"I guess I'll tell you about it later."
Ricky said, trying to keep up with his girlfriend.
"Yeah, whenever you get the time."
Vincent replied, smiling and watching him go. And like that, things were back to normal. The tragedy had been taken care of, which would make life better for everyone involved. It was just important to make sure something like this never happened again, as what might happen if it did was scary to think about...
