The answer would be revealed in the story.

—Back in Portorosso—

You got off the boat, looking angry behind your fathers back, heading back inside your home without any conversation.

"Y/n! Get back here!" Your father called out for you, however you ignored...

"Y/n!!" He continues to shout out your name while got slammed the door from behind, laying on your bed, feeling hurt how your own father almost killed your friend...your only friend...

You begin to tear up and decide to cry in your sleep, not even wanting to talk to your father...his shouting begin to lower down...knew he screwed up.

(Y/n's Father's PoV)

Ugh...why can't my daughter understand...? She literally put herself in danger! Almost killed in front of my eyes...by that sea monster...

But it looked like it didn't even harm her...

Seeing the monster itself...it didn't look that threatening nor horrifying...how those stories were told my papa told me as a child...

I should give her some space, wait until she's ready to have a talk...

—back to Y/n—-

You sobbed in your pillow, smothering it with tears and turned your body around to look up the ceiling...

"Why...? Why does this always happen to me...?" You asked yourself, already thinking about your wonderful time meeting Luca. Your first and only friend you have made that you had a strong connection with...

You always wonder...why does your father kill sea monsters? Even though they aren't too dangerous...?

You sighed and grabbed your sketchbook, doodling some nice figure drawings of Luca, making him look like a stunning mermaid to your visuals.

A few moments later, you heard a knock on your door.

"Come in..." you shout out, wasn't too sure who it was and continued to sketch.

"Amore..." you heard the deep voice and didn't look up at all.

However, you smell the fresh scent of cookies, it appears your father is holding a plate of cookies and hot cocoa.

You knew this must be an apology gift or begging for it...

You continued to draw and then he walked over to sit besides you.

Until he cleared his throat.

"Y/n...princess...I want to apologize abou-"

"For what? Almost killing my friend?" You interrupted...not wanting to cry again...

"I-"

"Do you have any idea how that effects me papa...? He is not evil or scary...he didn't hurt me or anything...why would you kill someone that didn't cause no harm?" You felt a tear run down your face and your father seemed rather patient...

He pretty much deserved to be yelled at...

So he took a deep breath and looked down. "Amore...it's not my fault I was raised to forcefully kill sea monsters...your family is known to hunt them for centuries...even giving us a name in this town of Portorosso...the man in the statue you walk by every single day...was your great great grandfather...who's killed the biggest sea monster he has ever caught...known to be a vicious carnivore..."

You continue to listen to the backstory...noticing your father is making some short pauses.

"Your grandfathers made me witness one at a young age...I had to watch them skin one alive with their bare hands...using the scales as a trophy..."

His face expression shows that he didn't witness good memories...but trauma...

You really had a strange family tree and let's say, you wanted to change it.

"B-but then...why did you almost kill my friend, Luca?"

Your father sighed and shook his head. "Because it's how my father told me to be on alert when I see one...I never meant to actually hurt him...getting a closer look at your little friend...he seemed rather...innocent and...harmless."

He turned to look up at you and you were feeling so many emotions mixed with confusion and fascination...

Is your father saying that he didn't wanna kill your friend?

"P-papa...? I promise...he's not dangerous...I'd say, we should meet him together!"

Your father nommed on a cookie and you went to grab one yourself.

"I'll trust you sweetie..." He smiled and you went to give him a big hug.

"I'm sorry for shouting at you earlier..." you apologized and he chuckled under his breath.

"No need to apologize, I deserved it."

So the next morning, you and your father got on his fishing boat and went over to the middle of the sea.

You know what to do to summon Luca. So you picked up the same book you were reading a few days ago and dropped it down in the water.

(Luca's POV)

"Mamma Mia Giuseppe, you need to chill with your swimming problem..." I grunt until this little goatfish calmed his tail down and sat next to me while I'm on guard with the rest of them.

I laid back on the big rock and looked up to the surface....

*sighs*

I wonder if I ever get to see Y/n again...I couldn't stop thinking about her...

I felt like we had a really strong connection...almost like, I never wanna let her go and out of my sight...we almost...kissed.

Until something spotted my iris...a book?

Sinking down into the sea grass.

I swam over to pick it up and I recognized the look and cover on it...

Could it be?

I looked around the surface until I spotted a big boat above me!

I begin to swim up to the surface and noticed a visualize figure looking down from inside the boat. It looks oddly familiar.

Is it...?

I popped my head out of the water and instead of a little scare...I felt a pair of lips next to mine.

I feel my face feel hot and almost like swimming to heaven...

When I let go and see Y/n in front of my face.

"Ciao Luca." She said with a sweet smile that I adore and I saw a big figure coming from behind her...

I begin to freak out but Y/n told me it's okay...

"Luca...don't leave, he won't hurt you...I promise."

I looked up at the father and he looked amazed than threatening me...

I waved at him and gave a small smile.

Suddenly they helped me onto the boat and my sea form quickly shifts to my human form...which fascinated the father.

"You see papa, he's not evil." Y/n smiled and she walked up to me to hold my hand...almost intertwining our fingers together.

Then the father smiled under his mustache.

"I believe you Amore..."

This made me smile and accepted!

I never knew a sea monster killer could soften up so quickly!

Such fascinating creatures these humans are.
