This shall be a Romeo and Juliet themed story.

No you two won't die in the end...let's just say Sea Monsters and Mermaids don't really get along.

Everything would take place under the sea.

Luca and you are 15.

Luca's POV

I was watching over the fish eat up before I have to come back to my parents.

My mom can be really protective...

Number 1, land monsters

Number 2, we'll die if we were spotted

And number 3, the there is danger in the ocean too...

Right after the fish is all fed up, we head back to the seaweed farm, have them return into their den.

"Hi Mom, Im back."

My mom swim towards me, checking whether Im hurt or not.

"Did you hide from the boats?"

She kept asking me so many questions. Its the same answer.

No Im not dead...

"Good, now come on, its time to eat."

So we swam to the table and began to eat up a seaweed special lunch.

It was the usual for all of us, my mom bragging about other sea monsters.

However my dad brought up mermaids...

"Lorenzo, you know mermaids are nothing but spoiled fish in the sea! Just because they have a half beautiful human face and curves and a fishy bottom! Why in the world would they swim by?"

"They just wanna check on us, plus King Triton is the ruler."

"King Triton?" I asked with curiosity, I didn't know we actually had a king.

"Oh yes, he's strong, handsome, and really wealthy, he's even made peace with the sharks!"

Woah! That's incredible!

"Wish I get to meet him." I said looking down at my plate.

Then grandma cleared her throat wanting to talk. "Maybe it'll be nice to visit the mer palace, I heard there's a ball happening."

"A ball?"

"Its a fancy way to call it a dance party Luca." My dad explained.

"Hmm, I think it'll be fun for all of us! Oh!! I've been saving a cute suit for you son!"

Cool! My first time going to a ball with the mermaids!

Y/n's POV

I looked out my window to see the other mermaid girls hanging outside the palace...While Im stuck inside due to my father's orders as a princess...

I felt a tap from my pet octopus Rossa.

"I wish I could just spend one day outside of the castle...without my father around..."

I kept talking to myself, even Rossa comforted me, understanding what Im going through.

Until I've heard a knock on my door.

"Come in!."

It was my maid Sienna, who is a sea folk.

"Ciao princess, you need to get ready for the ball." She grabbed the dress I'll be wearing for tonight, while I still look out the window.

"Just a moment Sienna.." I replied...then I swam to my bed and sat up.

She helped me with the dress and adding accessories.

She lives outside the castle...maybe I could ask.

"Sienna? What's it like outside the palace?"

She turned to look down at me, confused on why I asked. But she soon answered.

"Its lovely, get to see the ocean blue surrounding you, so many places to swim, farms, whales, even jellyfish would swim by."

What she described was freedom to me.

"It does sound lovely." I smiled up to her and she finished dressing me up.

"One day when your queen, you'll get to travel anywhere."

That just made things worse...

"Are there other sea folk?"

She nods "si, so many of us, plus they are all invited to the ball!"

Id like to meet others, Im sick of seeing other mermaids here...Im also not interested in the merman...so foolish...

"Your a lucky woman Sienna, I wish I could be free."

She cups my cheeks and looked deeply into my eyes with wisdom.

"One day Bella."

Then swam out of the room...

I looked into the mirror, all I could see was a princess...its not me in general...

Maybe socializing with the sea folk would be a little fun.

Luca's POV

I tried on my suit which fit me perfectly, it makes me look...how my dad calls it "fancy"

I swam out to the dining table, seeing my family all dressed up, ready to head to the palace.

Im so excited!!

So we all swam out, its not just us.

But the rest of the sea folk are coming too.

So many swam out of the nowhere. Never knew there was that many in the sea.

It was a long swim, until I spotted something shining...

I couldn't believe my eyes!

The royal palace!

Its better how I imagined!

"Welcome to Triton's castle Luca." My grandma said and we made ourselves inside. It's even beautiful inside too!

All the mermaids gathered together, chatting, looking at us being invited.

"Oh! A dance floor! Come on Lorenzo!" My mom grabbed my dad's hand and they swim to the dance floor and spin together.

It was cute to see that.

"I haven't seen them have that much fun in a while."

"Its true love bubbles, true love." My grandma heard what I said.

Hmm, I should explore a bit around this place.

So I swam around to look into the details. Until I see a food buffet.

I made my way over and see the colorful foods I ever seen!

Y/n's POV

I made my way down to the ball room with my mermaid friend, she kept talking and talking while I ignore, just so miserable that I'll never be free...

"Anyways, hey! The sea folk are here! Ugh...their not even that cute...I always prefer manly merman."

I chuckled and looked around, seeing a mix of them dance and having a fun time.

"Y/n!, my glimmering pearl, you look beautiful." My father gave me a big hug and held my hands.

"Grazie papa, only for the king of the sea."

He chuckled and booped my nose sweetly. "You are welcome to the buffet and meet some folks around, just don't swim off."

I sighed softly and nodded "si papa."

Then he kissed my forehead while some mermaids surround him wanting to mingle.

Well I am getting a bit hungry, so I swam over to the food table...until I spotted a young sea folk already there.

Im not sure if Id interrupt him, but he is near my favorite treats. Maybe he would be friendly.

"Excuse me, could I grab some of those?"
I tapped his shoulder, and when he turned his head to me, my eyes widen...

Those big eyes and freckled cheeks...and his face expression...

H-he's cute!!

Luca's POV

I turned my head to see who it was...until my eyes were matched to a stunning mermaid...almost looked like a princess.

Why is she shocked? Is it because I almost ate these tasty treats?

"Uhh, can I have some of those?" She asked me again then I blacked out.

"O-oh! Yes, Im sorry." I moved to the side while she munches on some of them.

I watched her until she looked back at me, like Im guarding her.

"Is this your first time here?" She asked, turned her body to me.

"Yeah! Its very lovely here."

I smiled and she didn't...does she not like it here?

"Yeah its lovely and all, but imagine living here for the rest of your life, it could get a bit boring." She explained, looking at me, not even taking her eyes off of me.

Y/n's POV

I couldn't keep my eyes off of him, he's so cute.

"Hmm I bet, I live in a small home, but its still home to me!"

Aww, he's very lucky to live in the open.

"What's your name?" I asked.

He looks up "Luca Paguro."

Awww! Its even cuter!!!

"Im Y/n! Daughter of King Triton..."

Then his eyes widen, and immediately shifted to bowing...

I hate royalty...

"Your highness! My apologizes for not bowing to the princess."

Oh boy...I won't be mad...

"Aww its okay Luca, you don't need to apologize."

He stood up and chuckled in a nervous tone. "A-alright."

(3rd Person POV)

The two teens would continue talking while they enjoy the food, it appears the both of you have so much in common, from food, outdoor activities, hobbies, and living free.

You developed feelings for the cutie that you started to believe in true love.

"You seem like a very nice guy Luca, Id wish we could spend time together more." You said while Luca blushed that he thought the same thing. But understood that you are a princess, its a duty for a princess to be a princess.

That's when they both see everyone gather on the dance floor, beginning to slow dance.

Luca cleared his throat and held his hand out for you. "Shall we dance? Princess?" He asked and you already said yes.

The two of you swam in the middle of the room, having his hand around your waist and your hand on his shoulder. And the other hand intertwined.

This was the first time Luca has ever danced with anyone, for his experience, pretty much bad at it, but enjoys it.

You looked into his big red eyes, its all you would see, by your surprise, Luca's also gazing into yours, having a conversation into the soul.

You weren't sure if you wanna kiss him, but you didn't want your father to see.

After the song was over, you held Luca's hand "Let me take you somewhere private." She swam out of the dance floor and went through a purple curtains, at first he thought it lead him to a private room or a quiet place, it lead to a balcony, revealing a view of the sea.

"Woah!" Luca looked around and had a moment.

How much he is seeing, could also see the deep hole where it led to the depths.

"Im glad your having fun."

"I don't get it, if you don't like being a princess, why can't you have your own choice to leave?" He asked you and it was hard to explain...but no one isn't around to hear.

"Well, only the king makes the choices for me...Im only gifted...my father wanted me to marry a merman only to become queen...while the merman tells me what to do...Im a slave to the top tier..." You looked down to the sad truth about your father's plan. It made Luca rethink about him...

He swam closer to her body and lifts her chin to have her attention on him.

"If I was your king...Id let you be you." He said softly and you were lost for words...

You cupped his cheeks and kisses him, it did surprise Luca, but he also went for the kiss too.

The kiss turned passionate, having your bodies closer, and his tail wrapped your legs around.

You pulled away slowly, realizing you kissed a sea folk...which was forbidden for you...it was perfect.

That's the curtains shift a but and the both of you let go of each other but to see another mermaid, which was your friend.

"Hey Y/n! I was looking all over for you!" She froze when she saw you and Luca.

That smirk of hers show evilness in a silly way, possibly knew right away.

"Sorry if I interrupted the fun~"

You turned red "Silenzio Yf/n"

She giggled and then sees the face on Luca, knowing you two were actually having a moment.

"Um, say I've heard some sea folk family is calling for a boy, don't know if its you?"

"My parents!" Then he swam back inside.

This isn't gonna look too good.

"Y/n...do you have any idea how in big trouble your in?!" She shouts at you, like you committed a crime.

"I couldn't help myself! And plus he's so sweet and caring, the opposite of those awful merman in the castle." You explained, begging her not to tell on your father about your secret.

"Its against the rules, you can't fall in love with a non merfolk."

You glared and gripped your hair "Im the princess, Id marry someone for love...like Luca." You swam back inside the curtains.

(Friend's POV)

I maybe her best friend...but orders are orders...I must tell the king about this...
