The Ending of Sandy's Story
Now, I guess Sandy's story has an actual ending.
For years, Sandy had been having the time of her life. Being loved by her family and loving them back. She flourished under the attention while also taking time to herself.
She was a good dog.
After losing Taz, her doggy brother, she fell into a depression. It was expected, although it was delayed by several weeks.
The days grew colder and seemed to go by with a slow fast forward. Holidays came and went. Gaining three new kittens. Family trips with Sandy including the kittens.
Sandy simply adored the new fur babies running around her.
Then came the week of January 6th, where Sandy took a turn for the worse. Her family had noticed she was slowly losing weight, hardly eating, and having trouble breathing.
Even though her health was deteriorating, Sandy was still the happy dog she slowly became after she was brought into her new home.
On the night of January 11th, Sandy had trouble laying down for bed in her kennel. The next morning, she ran outside, played a little, then around 11:00 AM, she passed.
Her family was in the process of getting her ready to go to the vet when the third child noticed Sandy looking at her.
Feeling as if Sandy's stare and he pierced her heart, the words 'I'm ready, are you?' went through the nineteen-year old's head. It was a heart-clenching moment.
She wasn't going to make it.
Sandy had her moment of goodbye, she walked into her kennel. Her labored breathing slowly evened out. Sandy's tan body laid down, knowing she wouldn't stand up again.
After a few minutes, she passed peacefully in her kennel. Joining her other fur siblings that had gone before her.
Rest in peace, Sandy. July 4, 2007 (the day she was adopted, she was three-five years old) - January 12, 2019.
