Chapter 2
It was a terrible sight that Optimus wished that he had never seen. The once happy camp with younglings running around was now on fire with smoke billowing into the air and bodies littering the ground.
Some Decepticons were still hanging around shooting at any stragglers. Before Optimus could open his mouth Jax came running at the Decepticons with a sword and a mighty yell. The young bot was fighting with a lot of skill and bravery and it made Optimus feel only slightly better about the situation. He could feel waves of support come from Elita and he shared back what he was feeling.
Upon closer inspection, behind Jax, Optimus could see Moonfrost trying to treat a bot who was writhing in pain on the dusty ground.
"Autobots, roll out!" Optimus yelled as his battle mask covered his mouth. He grabbed his sword and charged into the battle taking a slash at the closest Decepticon.
"Ratchet! Help as many as you can! Ironhide! Cover Ratchet. Everyone else, get those Decepticons!"
All of the bots scattered as they executed the Prime's orders. Ratchet went to the first bot he saw which so happened to be Boulder. His chest had been hit and the casing that was surrounding the spark was starting to collapse in. To add to it, his leg had once again been ripped off.
"Hang on. I'm going to try and stabilize your casing, okay? Just hold still." Ratchet said as he started taking different tools from his subspace. It had been a while since he's had to deal with a collapsing spark case. Ratchet slightly panicked when he saw that he did not have all of the needed tools for this operation. Ratchet was slightly distracted from the dilemma as Boulder started to speak.
"I'm sorry, Moonfrost. I got my leg ripped off again..." Boulder shuddered with a small smile on his face.
Ratchet looked over to where Moonfrost was treating the bot only to realize that she had lost the bot to the Well. She was rushing over to Ratchet and Boulder with small energon tears in her optics.
"Shut up. You're going to be fine. I-I know you will. After this, y-you're going to be on youngling duty. No ifs, ands, or buts. Y-you got that? You stay here okay? I-I'm going to go check on the others. When I come back you better still be here," Moonfrost hiccuped as more energon tears gathered in her optics. She gave one last look at Boulder and Ratchet before running to a youngling that was on the ground.
Oh, Primus, thought Ratchet, frag this Primus forsaken war. Ratchet looked back down to where he was working on Boulder before feeling utter defeat attack his spark. There is nothing he could do. Not without the proper tools that he did not have with him and the poor bot had already lost a lot of Energon.
"I'm sorry, scraplet," Ratchet murmured.
"I-Its fine. A-at least I-I'll be able t-to see m-my c-creators again," Boulder said with a sigh as a single energon tear slipped down his faceplates. Boulder's optics dimmed as the casing finally crashed down onto his spark.
A sense of failure crashed down on Ratchet's spark as he watched the last bit of life drain from the young bot. He was too young. Why, why, why did this fragging war have to happen?
Ratchet stood and assessed the damage as Sideswipe gave a final blow to the last Decepticon. All around the camp were bodies that laid motionless and a blow of throes hit Ratchet's spark when he saw a few younglings laying on the ground. Optimus came to stand next to Ratchet as he took notice of Moonfrost hunched over one of the younglings as ugly sobs came out of her mouth.
"I'm s-s-s-sor-r-ry. I-I'm s-s-so-so-," Moonfrost stuttered before once again sobbing as she hunched into herself.
Jax ran past Optimus and Ratchet and fell to his knees as he dropped his sword to grab Moonfrost in his servos and pull her into his lap. She grabbed onto him and continued to sob as Jax let out soft clicks to her. It didn't help as much as everyone hoped it would and it was several breems before she finally fell into recharge from exhaustion.
"Ratchet, check to make sure there are survivors," Optimus ordered quietly as the other bots came to circle around him. Optimus puffed out warm air from his vents before slowly walking over to where Jax and Moonfrost were.
"I-I know what you're going to ask me," Jax said looking into the distance as Optimus came to a stop next to him. "'D-do you want to c-come with us?' Well, the answer is yes. W-we have nothing keeping u-us back from joining and I am going to make those fraggers pay for what they've done," Jax finished darkly.
"As you wish. We must leave soon though, for there might be more Decepticons on the way," Optimus said as he dipped his head.
Jax just nodded and picked up Moonfrost and walked over to where Ratchet had regrouped with everyone else.
"We can put her in my bed so she can rest a little more comfortably," Ratchet offered.
Jax looked down at Moonfrost his instincts battling with his logic. It took a lot for Jax to finally nod his head in consent. Ratchet smiled encouragingly and transformed into his alt. mode. Everyone else followed suit and Jax gently placed his sparkmate into Ratchets bed.
Jax transformed into his alt. mode and pulled up next to Ratchet so he could stay as close to Moonfrost as he could.
"Autobots, roll out," Prime said as he led the group once more towards their territory.

Moonfrost's limbs felt heavy as she slowly became aware of her surroundings. She couldn't remember falling into recharge and so she strained her processor for the reason. It suddenly came flying back at her and she felt grief grip her spark once more. She didn't want to open her optics but all at the same time she wanted to. She wanted to know where she was but she also didn't feel like facing the world. She was so done. Done with death. Done with fighting. Done with this war.
She sat there for a breem trying to find a reason to keep fighting, then she remembered. She had to fight. Fight for what resided in her in that moment and for Jax, and with new determination, she opened her optics.
The first thing she noticed was white. The first thing she thought when she saw that color was med bay. Only med bays were white. Unless, of course, you grew up where she did. The next thing she noticed was that she was on a berth.
Of course, I'm on a berth. I'm in a med bay for Primus' sake.
The next thing she noticed was that Jax was recharging peacefully next to her. Moonfrost felt her spark warm at the sight of seeing him so peaceful. His optics fluttered open and he gave her a smile when he realized that she was awake.
: How are you feeling, sweetspark?: He asked as he sent waves of comfort and slight worry over their bond.
: I don't know. I feel sad but determined all at once... Are we in the Autobot's medbay?: She asked as she scanned the room once more.
: Yes, we are finally able to be on the side we agree with.: Jax said with a small smile.
: Yes, but at what cost? Jax, w-we lost all of those younglings. They were s-so young and-: Moonfrost started to hiccup once more before Jax cut her off.
"Sweetspark, they are with their creators in the Well. They are safe and happy now. You know what the Well looks like. It's beautiful there and they can see their ancestors and everyone else now," Jax said reassuringly as he brushed the back of his servo against her faceplates.
"You've been to the Well?" A surprised voice asked from the side.
Moonfrost jumped as she sat up quickly. She looked to her side only to relax slightly when she saw that it was only Ratchet with what looked like a young bot who had a blue scheme.
Moonfrost's faceplates hardened slightly as she became slightly defensive.
"Yes, I have."
"You have to be kidding me! That sounds so cool. I've always wondered what the Well looks like. I mean, I don't want to go there anytime soon but I'm kind of curious to just know what it looks like, you know what I'm saying? You so have to tell me all about it later. Ooo, I'm so excited now and-" The young blue bot suddenly stopped talking as Ratchet slapped a servo over his mouth.
"That's enough out of you," Ratchet said as he pulled his servo away from the chattery bot.
Another voice piped up from the other side of the bay and it took a nano-klik for Moonfrost to realize that there was a couple of bots in the med bay other than her and Jax.
"I've never heard someone seeing it before either," A mech that had a white scheme and then a few red highlights.
"That's because where I come from, we don't talk to outsiders," Moonfrost said with a roll of her optics as she crossed her arms.
"Are you talking about those savage clans-" Another voice said from next to the white and red bot. At the word savage, Moonfrost sent a glare over to the mech that made his voice die down and cause him to gulp nervously.
"Don't disrespect my clan. I may not be there but that does not mean I will allow somebot who doesn't even know them talk down about them," Moonfrost growled out. "We may have kept to ourselves and fought with the others, but we have a code and we stick to it like sparklings do to their carriers."
"Sweetspark, calm down. You don't need to rip his head off," Jax said from her side.
Before Moonfrost could open her mouth to retaliate, Ratchet cut her off.
"I thought those clans were a myth?"
"Hmph, you got your aft saved this time," she hissed to Jax. "That's because we try to stick to ourselves and stay hidden. Those who find us are lucky to make it out. It's usually the Dark Clan that offlines the trespassing bots. This one over here actually somehow accidently crossed the border and trust me, the only way you can cross into our territory is by actually looking for it. This dumbaft though somehow accidentally did it. To this cycle, I still don't know how he did it," she shrugged as she pointed at Jax with one of her digits and then once again folded her arms.
"So that's how you two met. That's so cute and awesome all at the same time! It must've been pretty funny to meet eachother like that! You should tell us how that happened, I mean that's if you want to-" Once again the blue bot was cut off my Ratchet.
"Scraplet, shut your mouth."
"I guess I'll tell you. But only if you tell me your designation," Jax said happily.
"Oh! I'm Bluestreak," he said happily as his doorwings moved slightly from side to side.
One thing that Moonfrost had noticed about the little blue bot was how whenever he was talking or excited, he would wiggle his doorwings. He also looked young, still in his second frame.
"Okay then, I'm Jax and this is Moonfrost," Jax hummed happily.
"Oh wow! I love your names! And you look really pretty Moonfrost! And I just love both of your colors-" Bluestreak suddenly stopped talking when he saw Ratchet giving him the stink optic.
"Ha, so anyway, I guess I'll tell you how I met this one. So, I was patrolling one cycle when I pick up this loser's heat signature. I sneak up on him and he's just standing there with the stupidest expression on his faceplates. Long story short, when I tried to confront him, he started flirting the Pit out of me. Needless to say, he annoyed me enough that I dragged him back to camp and threw him in the brig myself," Moonfrost said with a smirk on her faceplates. "Then I actually ended up guarding him that lunar cycle and so one thing led to another and now we're here. Tada!" Moonfrost said sarcastically with an eye roll.
"You are terrible at telling stories," Jax said from behind his servos as he attempted to keep his laugh in.
"I am so fighting you later when we get out of this bay," she ground out.
"Well, that won't be long then. You both should be good to go actually. The same goes for all of you bots as well," Ratchet said as he picked up a chart. There was cheering at that as all of the bots got up from their berths, apparently too scared to do it before. Ratchet just sighed and turned towards the young couple as both stood up slowly.
"You two can go and explore and then just come back here at 1800 hours. Optimus will be here to give you two a room," Ratchet said as he tiredly rubbed his optics.
"Okay, thank you so much for your help, Ratchet," Moonfrost smiled gratefully.
"No problem. I hope that once you are settled in that you would join me as a medic here," Ratchet said with a gruff smile.
Moonfrost returned the smile happily, "It would be an honor, sir."
Okay, the second chapter is completed. Oof, this is coming out of me pretty easily. I wonder how long that is going to last. Thank you for reading!
