I woke up about two hours before I was supposed to be at the shelter. Then I came down to the dinning hall expecting trouble. But then I got a nice surprise. I completely forgot the date. It was mrs. Whites birthday and for once I was up early enough to help with the cake and decorations. So I put up decorations with some of the other boys. Then mrs. White came down and we all screamed happy birthday! She was really happy. She said " oh boys I wasn't expecting this thank you so much." We all said your welcome. Then we had a minor party until it was time for me to leave for the shelter. I told mrs. White I had to go to the shelter then left.

Benny's pov

Tommy showed up at the shelter today. I was so excited for him to come back. Where did he go? I mean not showing up. To quote this person I herd talking earlier. How rude. Anyways he walked over to my kennel. He said " hey Benny how are you? I have to clean your kennel so I am putting you outside ok." So he put me on my leash and walked me out into the yard as the other dogs told me it was called. Then I stayed at the yard. Tommy had probably cleaned my cage after 20 min. At least that's what it seemed like. Then all the dogs dug a hole in the fence and were getting out and away. I started barking madly trying to get some ones attention to stop them. Then all kennel hands started catching dogs and we were all put in our cages. A short while after that tommy stopped by. He said " hey Benny thanks for telling us so that we could bring them back." I softly barked back. He just smiled. Then he said " see ya later Benny. Got to get back to work." And with that he stood up and left.

Tommy pov

I was cleaning the cages when the office phone goes off. I walked over to the phone I answered the phone. I said "hello this is the diamond back kennels how may we help you." Then a man says "ok so I have a question my dog you see I am determining what kind of food to give my dog." Then I said "sir hold on one second I am only the kennel cleaner let me get our vet she would be more informative." He said "alright." Then I quickly left the room ran over to the vet explained the situation to her and she agreed to come with me. She took the phone and answered his question. It only took about 20 min after she asked all her questions to be accurate. Then I left. Mrs. Linda said "tommy I need you to help me real quick." I replied "yes mrs. Linda what would you like me to do?" then she said "tommy i want you to go on your first resue mission. all you have to do is help max with the dog and follow his instructions." i said "yes mrs. linda."  then i left with max and it wasnt long before we found the dog she was talking about the dog looked like Benny. i think it is a pitbull as well. then max said " alright tommy we are going to aproach the dog slowly and then once it is calm we are going to put the dog in the crate in the back and bring them into the shelter." i nodded. we approached the dog slowly we found out it was a girl got the dog into the crate then max said "tommy you want to give the dog a name." then i said "what do you think about rita?" then max said "sounds good with me." then rita span and laid down in the cage.it took about an half an hour to get back to the shelter becasue we got stuck in traffic. then we un loaded rita. Mrs. linda came over and said "tommy how did you enjoy your first dog recuse?" i said "i thought it went pretty well mrs. Linda." then she had me and max bathe rita and then i cleaned her cage. then we put her in the cage and she went right to sleep. i had some spare time so i visted benny. he perked right up once i got to his cage. i put my fingers inrto the litle holes and he came runing into petting distance. then i talked to him. then i gave him a milk bone.then it was time for me to get back to work so i stood up and walked back to the kennels. then i heard Mrs. Linda and some random guy talking. the man said "look lady that dog in there is mine and i want her back." then Mrs.Linda said " look sir if she is really your dog how come she looked abused and why dose she looked starved cause we dont give dogs back without a real reason for why you have no clue why she is like that." and with that the man seemed to walk off mad that he couldnt lie well enough. then i quickly picked up the broom and started to sweep trying to look busy cause i heard her coming this way.

Benny pov

person after person walks by my cage 1..2..3..4 and so on i am so board. then tommy walks over. oh how i missed him. it felt like so long ago i saw him. i stand up and spin. then he sticks his fingers in my cage. i quickly ran over and he petted me. oh how i enjoyed it so much. then he talked i listend then he gave me a treat. then he stood up and walked away. would i see him again soon? would he want to come back? i pondered all these things well i ate the treat he gave me. then i saw Mrs. linda walk by she seemed so mad. why she mad? i dont really know. i barked to she if she would pay attention. she span around and walked over she smiled at me and said "hi benny how are you?" i barked back a good. then she told me what was wrong. which i am sorry but that belongs to human dog classifeds. then she walked away well i was stuck in a cage wishing i could run in the green grass soon. then play with the misterious thing i hear you call them tennis balls. i really want to play with a tennis ball.
