Tommy pov

Today's the day today is the day I go to court and see if I am free. Of course if I am I will still work at the shelter and I will want to take Benny with me. I hope this works out. I mean I never wanted to change at first but then I met Benny and Mrs.Linda and that changed my whole point of view. I made the change and I hope to learn further from it. I walk into the court room. My stealing charges in mind. I wish could change the past but I can't so it's my job to learn from my mistakes and from other as well. I looked to my left and I saw Mrs. Linda standing their as she was the first time we were their. I hope this all goes over well. I see the judge. I look at them and I hear him say " the meeting has begun" he looks at me he say "Tommy what have you learned from this experience?" I said " your honor I know you've heard it all any excuses I could come up with would be useless so I will be honest sir I learned a lot about respect and compassion something I had forgot existed for a while. I met this dog that got their the day before i did. He had just as bad a past as I did. His dad didn't care about him and he was forced to fight. Fight for no reason. But instead of hating all other people and comparing us to him he looks at us and he wags his tail and he shows me compassion. He shows me that not all good is gone from the world. I know I probably sound crazy right now but it's the honest truth. This dog showed me things about compassion and forgiveness and mercy that I thought died a long time ago when my mom hit me and pushed me around and then I went to a place where other un wanted kids are found. I really didn't see any good in the world but now I do." He turns to Mrs.Linda and asks "do you feel Tommy has changed and learned his lesson?" She said "your honor I think that Tommy has learned from this experience but I think he learned a lot more from Benny the dog he told you about. All I meant to do was scarce him straight but Benny helped him see things he probable otherwise would have given up on. So yes your honor I think he learned a lot." The judge says "Tommy your right I didn't want to hear an excuses and I still don't but I do believe you have learned something. Because of this I believe you shall be lifted of your charges and I do want you to know that I will not be so merciful next time. So don't think about another crime in this city or anywhere else or I will not think twice about putting you in jail." I said "your honor thank you for this chance and I promise that I will not go back to a life of crime here or anywhere else." With that the meeting was dismissed. We were free to leave and I asked Mrs. Linda as we were leaving "Mrs.Linda can I still work at the shelter?" She said "yes Tommy we still have room for you just now you will be a volunteer not a volentold." I smiled and then she drove me back to the Orphanage because I was not allowed to go to the shelter today because of the court meeting today. But she says I can come back tomorrow. So I told Mrs.White about all of it. She smiled she was really happy that I changed and that everything went good. I knew it was gonna take a while before she trusted me again thought. I went to eat some lunch and then I was gonna go spend the rest of the day drawing or reading or something else to pass time until tomorrow.
