Benny pov

I woke up and started to spin in my cage. I was walking back and forth. I heard about Tommy and his issues I don't why he didn't tell me. I guess maybe he wanted somebody who didn't think about that. I guess he choose me to be this special person. That made me smile. Then I saw Tommy walk in with Linda I couldn't hear the way they were talking was so quite. That made me curious. I started to ask "Tommy Tommy what's going on? Talk to me. Tommy come back. No!" He just kept walking like he didn't even see me. I was so upset. Why so he being this way? Was I bad yesterday in the yard? I didn't kill any birds I promise. I laid down in my cage. I just sat their wondering what was happening. Then I heard a man say to women " hey in a few days Tommy court date is coming up. If it works out he won't need to work here anymore." The girl said "oh I know I hope he doesn't stay I don't want a kid with a lot of problems around the animals. He could just hurt them and be cruel. I never liked Tommy." He replied "yea why did Linda allow him to work here?" She says back "cause she is crazy why else." He smiled at her sweetly and she smiled back the same way. Eww! The were a couple. Not to mention they hated Tommy. I feel like I could rip their heads off. But I won't because then I would belong in this cage and to be called an animal when it is them who are the animals. Most real animals are amazing but them their stupid stereotypical animals. The ones that everyone associates us to be. That's not us that's them. We have feelings and we matter just as much as humans. Like seriously it makes me so angry. I quickly lay back down and close my eyes as they walk by. I was so mad. I wanted to just rip there faces off. But I would never ever do so. I wanted tommy to come back here. I am so mad. What happens to me once he is gone? Will he not look back to see the dog that he has change the life of? Will he not want me anymore? I started to do this whimper thing that I do when I'm scared what if he leaves me? I don't want him to leave me. Please don't let him leave me. My skin is starting to itch. I go to scratch it but I can't reach it. All of a sudden a hand in on my back scratching my itch. I look up I see it's Tommy I smile and he says "hey buddy when my court date comes up and I finish you can come with me ok. I won't leave you I promise and what others may say it's ok i don't let them affect me and they shouldn't affect you either what they say dosent matter ok trust me." I say "ok I trust you if you hurt me I'll not trust you again ever though." He smiled and said "I know Benny I won't betray your trust I don't want to not have you trust me." My tail started to wag and he opened the cage and he took me out into the sun shine and we played with the magically tennis ball. Afterwards we sat under a tree with my tongue hanging out and me panting. Tommy was reading something. I couldn't quite make out what it was. I was curious but as I remember being told as a pup. Curiosity killed the cat and many dogs after who were crazy enough to follow. So I waited and hoped he would tell me and of course he didn't. But why would he it would just solve all my problems if he did. Sometimes he is a dummy. I didn't say that though cause I was also taught if you have nothing nice to say say nothing at all. So I bit my tongue. I wondered what the heck he was doing reading on the paper he was reading then I smelled a weird scent and I followed it. It lead to a mysterious creature. It was black with a white stripe on its back eww it sprayed me. It sprayed me! I yelled at it "hey bub watch who you spray and when." It replied "I'm sorry but you sneaked up on me it's your fault didn't your mom ever teach you young pup not to mess with a skunk?" I replied " nope she taught me more important things like to avoid dogs that could eat me." Out of nowhere Tommy appeared and he pulled me away before I could see what he had to say. Then he said "eww Benny did he spray you?" I said "yes it smells." He said come on let's get you cleaned up." He took me in through a back door and cleaned me off with this red liquid. It was so weird feeling. Then the smell went away but now I smelled like this red liquid. So he gave a regular bath and he said "their now you are all better. It is 6:30 the shelter is about to close come on Benny let's get you dried off and I'll have to go ok?" I said back "ok." With that I was no longer wet and I was walked back over to me cage and I went to sleep. For the night.
