Chapter Twelve: After Care

"So where are we going that requires 'comfy and athletic but mostly just comfy' clothes?" Jungkook asked, quoting Jimin's text as their Friday night discussion section filtered out.

A week had passed since the tempo quiz and last Wednesday's midterm exam for the Intro to Music Theory course had taken up most of Jungkook's time. Students overwhelmed Jimin's office hours and Jimin had exams of his own, making it hard for the two to meet. So when Jimin texted Jungkook to stay after the next week's discussion for a surprise, Jungkook was more than happy to oblige.

Taehyung had thrown Jungkook a knowing look as he packed up, motioning a fisted hand near and away from his mouth with his tongue poking his cheek which caused Jungkook to punch him in the arm. He hadn't told anyone about his talk with Jimin yet, wanting to wait for Jimin to confirm their relationship again before he revealed that he was romantically interested in a human. Something neither Taehyung nor Seokjin would exactly be ecstatic about if Jimin becoming Jungkook's feeder was off the table.

Jimin smiled up at Jungkook and the openness in it would have stolen the air from his lungs if it wasn't for the fact that his body stopped echoing breath or blood flow. He was still getting used to it; his movements felt more graceful, more lethal, but it also meant the last of his humanity was really gone.

"It's a surprise. The Uber's outside to drive us if you're ready."

"This better not be another club." Jungkook whined and Jimin poked his waist.

"It's not, come on." Jimin said, pulling Jungkook out the door towards a small black car waiting for them outside the lecture building. On the walk out, Jimin's hand lingered on Jungkook's. Their fingers brushed against each other nervously, self-consciously, before their pinkies linked and finally their hands interlaced.

Jungkook blushed but smiled secretively when he realized Jimin was blushing too. Jimin only pulled his hand away to open the uber door and confirm their ride, waiting for Jungkook to go in. Instead, Jungkook put his hand on the door and tilted his head so that Jimin went in first before following him.

As the car pulled away towards whatever mystery location Jimin had planned, Jimin spread his leg slightly so that his thigh touched Jungkook's. A song passed and Jungkook moved his hand to hold onto Jimin's knee, looking out at the road so that he didn't have to watch if Jimin rejected the touch. In the reflection of the window, he saw Jimin smile.

The car finally pulled into the parking lot of a massive glass building. It was off to the side of the city, bars and cafes on the streets nearby, but somehow the impressive structure still felt isolated. Jimin thanked the driver as they got out of the car.

"So, one other thing." Jimin said as he walked to a side door made of steel. Jungkook gaped as he followed, watching Jimin pull out a card that scanned them in and opened to a modern looking lobby. There were steel lockers off to one side with black velvet couches scattered next to an electric fire. A front desk was on the opposite end where a massive 'Hope World' sign was hanging in golden letters. The lights were off; the red exit signs granting sole visibility. "Hoseok's a vampire too."

Jungkook snorted. "And so this place is-"

"It's his dance studio - or one of them at least. Hobi passes the whole thing down to himself under a fake name every couple decades he completes a new dance degree. He keeps up with modern choreography that way. I've had a room here to practice in ever since we became friends, so I get twenty-four hour access."

"Right." Jungkook huffed, suddenly jealous at the wealth of the building as Jimin scanned them into an elevator that totaled sixteen floors. Jimin pressed one of the higher ones, eyeing Jungkook. "How old is he?" Jungkook asked, amazed at what vampires older than him had already achieved. He never felt behind, turning was an accident in the first place, but sometimes he wondered what life could look like for him if he could have been turned earlier.

"I don't know, like a hundred or something. Him and Yoongi have been friends for like four or five decades, but Hoseok's vampirism is a little weird." Jimin explained as he led them out the elevator and down a hall of dark glass rooms with different symbols on each door. One was a flame, another a blue moon, another a jack in the box, and then finally Jimin stopped in front of one that had no symbol at all. "He never drinks blood from the source. Just like bags or something? He's like the vegan version of you guys so he has to drink more often and his fangs don't produce any venom. I think smoking helps ease the itch for fresh blood though, that's why his pen is glued to his hand."

"Oh?" Jungkook said, surprised. He'd heard of vampires who didn't drink from humans directly, but never considered lasting effects. Then again, venom was an evolutionary response to make drinking from a live source easier. If enough years went by without drinking from one, it's possible someone's body would stop producing it. "And just so I have this all clear, you're sure you're human? No werewolf surprise or siren or something else mythology thought it made up?"

Jimin rolled his eyes, but smiled. "Last time I checked I was. And you? How many of your friends are human?"

"None." Jungkook shrugged. "Taehyung, Namjoon, and Seokjin are all vamps. Jin's a prince, actually."

"I don't get the prince hype." Jimin shrugged. "Vampire-boxer is a much hotter combo."

"Oh yeah?" Jungkook grinned, hands going to Jimin's waist and turning him so that his back was to the door.

"Mhm." Jimin hummed, biting his lip and flicking his lashes to Jungkook's mouth. Before Jungkook could lean down to kiss him, Jimin's hand went to the handle of the door and pushed it open causing Jungkook to stumble inside. Jimin laughed but the sound was small and - oh my god - was Jimin nervous?

The room was massive and took the breath Jungkook didn't have away. The side they'd entered from was made of an opaque black glass; directly opposite it was lined with mirrors with a ballet bar attached. The last two walls were completely clear with Seoul's illuminated skyline towering beyond it.

Finally, Jungkook registered Jimin's surprise. In the corner of the room against the flickering skyline was a scatter of pillows, blankets, and cushions. There were bowls of snacks on the ground and a laptop connected to the room's speaker. Fairy lights were hung all around the ballet bar and taped to the black walls, casting the dark practice room in dancing light.

Jungkook gaped and Jimin made his way in front of him, his hands reaching for Jungkook's and intertwining their fingers.

"So, I was thinking we can do a movie night and then maybe I could teach you some dance moves?" Jimin said, biting his lip nervously. "Sex, venom, and any more vampire talk is off limits for tonight."

"When did you do all this?" Jungkook beamed.

"After I proctored Wednesday's exam." Jimin answered. "I came straight here and set up for it." He said, stepping closer to Jungkook and guiding Jungkook's hands to rest on his waist. Jimin's lilac cologne danced through the air. "I thought a lot about what you said, about not dating casually. I'm a bit out of practice and there's some big things that will take time for me to open up about, but if that's okay with you then I really want to do this right. And I know last week counts but still."

"Do what right?" Jungkook asked, voice shaking slightly. His hands dug lightly into Jimin's waist like they were an anchor to hold onto against crashing waves.

"I was wondering." Jimin said, taking a step back and pulling Jungkook along with him. There was a flirty smile on his face as he led them towards the scatter of blankets and pillows surrounded by fairy lights. "If you," Jimin sat them down on the pillows, keeping Jungkook's hands still on him, "would you want to be" he put his hands over Jungkook's "my boyfriend?"

Not a single muscle moved in Jungkook's body. Like one wrong move could wake him up from a dream he'd been having for weeks. "Say it again." Jungkook said, swallowing.

"I want to be your boyfriend." Jimin said, hand cupping Jungkook's cheek and Jungkook watched Jimin marvel at how cold the skin was now without his body's regulatory echo. Jungkook turned his head, kissing Jimin's palm. He beamed so hard that it physically hurt, like sunlight itself was coursing through his veins.

"You drive me insane; do you know that?" Jungkook whispered.

"I'll take that as a yes." Jimin teased and as he started to grin, Jungkook leaned down to kiss him. Jimin instantly melted into it with a sweet laugh.

Jungkook could stay like that forever, lips locked on the shorter boy's, hands digging into his waist, with Jimin's laugh ringing in his ears.

"We have a strict itinerary to get to." Jimin said through the kiss and Jungkook nearly whimpered as Jimin pulled away.

"Oh yeah?"

"I promised you a date and I meant it. So," Jimin reached for his laptop, opening up Netflix. "First, we have an entire season of Single's Inferno Two to watch. Comments about the couples will have to be made and we will be dishing tea the entire time, that's non-negotiable. Then, non-sexy dancing is our number two on the list. I'm teaching you a dance combo that even I had trouble learning because I think it'll be fun. You know, like taking your friends to karaoke. Third, to keep it fair, I bought cheap boxing target thingies so you can laugh at me trying to box."

"Boxing thingies? Are you talking about boxing gloves?" Jungkook asked, raising a brow. Jimin turned and grabbed two circular gloves from behind a pillow, causing Jungkook to howl a laugh.

"You got focus mitts? I'm so proud." He said, tilting his head in a laugh. The mitts were - they were completely ridiculous. They were bright blue, clearly made of the cheapest material on the market, and had "baby" written on one mitt with "boy" on the other in sparkly dark blue letters. Every second longer he looked at them was a second more Jungkook lost his fucking mind.

"Jimin. Where the fuck did you even find those?"

"The cheapest ones were from some kink site." Jimin explained and Jungkook immediately howled another laugh.

"Alright, onto itinerary number one." Jimin grinned, putting the mitts on the ground away from them. He leaned forward on his forearms to find Single's Inferno on his laptop, ass in perfect view of his boyfriend, before sitting back down.

When the episode started to play and the noise between them died down, Jungkook grew very aware that he was in a dark high rise above Seoul, completely away from everything, sitting in a fairy light lit room with Jimin. He smiled to himself, reaching for one of the blankets on the floor and throwing it over his and Jimin's legs.

As the contestants on the popular dating show were being introduced one by one on the screen, Jimin made observations about them as each walked in: who was who's type or what he guessed the contestant did for a living since their jobs and ages were hidden parts of the program.

Jungkook eyed Jimin as the episode played. He was sitting just a little bit away from him, his hands in his lap with his lip nervously between his teeth. Jungkook grinned and Jimin turned his way when he felt Jungkook staring at him. When he blushed, Jungkook shifted so that they were sitting closer to each other on the floor, moving the pillow between them back so it leaned against the black glass wall with the rest of the cushions.

"So they did this last season too," Jimin explained, glancing down at their legs touching. He then looked back at the laptop but Jungkook kept his eyes on Jimin, admiring the curve of his chin and the rise of his cheek bones. He soaked in the image of Jimin talking excitedly about the program, how his voice flowed so nice and radiated with energy.

"The first day they all cook together and you have to pay attention to who talks to who here because after dinner they write anonymous notes to each other. Last season-" Jimin went on and Jungkook scooted a little closer, draping his arm on the pillows behind Jimin's shoulders. Jungkook could hear how fast Jimin's heart was racing. It was insane how much better he could hear it now that he didn't also have his own. "-last season there was this really cute note that literally just said "oppa?" while everyone else wrote more detailed things. Like it was so simple but holy shit JK, it was such a power movie. Her name was Jia that wrote it and I want to be her." Jungkook moved his arm from the pillows onto Jimin's shoulders as he talked.

Jimin hiccuped in surprise. His cheeks went red and Jungkook savored the image of it, this version of Jimin without the bravado or questionable-intentions. The side that felt more true, more vulnerable, and Jungkook loved how special it made him feel. Like there weren't that many people that got to see it.

Jimin quickly recovered, "If you were to write me a note on the first day we met, what would it be?" He asked, hesitating before snuggling into Jungkook's side, his hand resting on Jungkook's chest and Jungkook smirked at Jimin's pulse. He tilted his head, kissing Jimin on his head and pulled the blanket up to cover them better.

"I think I'd write 'head?'"

"That would work on me, actually." Jimin said, pretending to think about it and Jungkook laughed. Jimin cuddled into Jungkook's chest more and as the episode continued to play, Jimin blinked.

"Wait. Your heart. I can't hear it." Jimin said suddenly and Jungkook shrugged.

"Guess it finally stopped."

"How do you feel about that?" Jimin asked, settling back into Jungkook's arms and Jungkook's fingers started to brush up and down Jimin's back as they watched the cast open up their first impression notes.

"I don't know, to be honest. A little weird, a little sad, but also a whole lot more settled into myself." Jungkook said and Jimin shifted to face him, looking him in the eyes, and then laid back down.

"That sounds kinda peaceful, even if it's a little sad. Less like a loss and more a final push into something new."

Jungkook kissed the top of Jimin's head again and Jimin bit his lip when he did so, melting a little more into Jungkook's frame. "I like that." Jungkook said. "It's like us, too."

"What do you mean?"

"I think today is a change for us too. Our old dynamic evolving into something new, something real."

Jimin placed a small kiss on Jungkook's collarbone. "You sound like a Single's Inferno contestant."

"I'd be great on that show."

"Oh really?"

"Yes. You'd have to fight for me because I'd be so popular. I've got a whole sleeve of tattoos. No one can resist that." Jungkook said matter of factly and Jimin laughed.

"I'd win you over, I'm sure of it."

"And how would you do that?" Jungkook asked as the next episode started to play, the intro of hot bodies on the screen making the laptop so bright that the light was reflected in the dance mirrors across from them.

"I'd play hard to get. Always in your space but one step out of reach. Eye contact while I'm talking to someone else or serving you first for meals but sitting across from someone different. Doesn't matter how many people are after you then, I'll play the long game and wait for you to come to me." Jimin said, dating show strategist at the front of his mind.

"Well damn. You'd have me wrapped around your finger." Jungkook said and Jimin grinned victoriously, like they were actually on Single's Inferno and Jungkook had asked him to go to Paradise together which is where the contestants go to experience bougie dates.

As the first two contestants chose each other to go on such a date on the laptop, Jimin started to play with Jungkook's tattooed hand that was now resting on his waist. He traced each tattoo carefully, like he was trying to recreate the process of inking it into Jungkook's skin.

"Any meaning behind these?" Jimin asked and Jungkook grinned. He flexed his arm teasingly so that Jimin bounced a little bit closer to his chest then leaned in, stretching his fingers to better show the tattoos on his hand and up his arm.

"So the knuckles spell ARMY and was my first tat. I was a singer in high school and was kinda a star in my hometown. A group of fans called themselves army, so I got drunk one night and got the words tattooed. This one, it's a symbol for Behind the Scenes. I struggled a lot when I first turned with the fact that even though this huge thing happened to me, everyone looked at me and saw a human and not a vampire. It was really hard to deal with, actually. Then one day I was walking down the street at night and a friend I haven't seen in a really long time told me I looked different. They couldn't even pinpoint why but it was just so validating that I was able to finally get passed it. So, the vampire is the behind-the-scenes part of me." Jungkook said. As the episode played, he went tattoo by tattoo, his voice a hum in Jimin's ear.

"I want to get the phases of the moon down my back. I saw it in a drawing online and now I'm obsessed with it." Jimin said, admiring Jungkook's tattoos with fresh eyes.

"I have to get some of mine colored in if you want to go together?" Jungkook offered and Jimin beamed.

"It's a date." Jimin said.

"A date with my boyfriend." Jungkook echoed.

"Yes Jungkook, a date with your boyfriend."

"You should meet my friends sometime too. Namjoon and Seokjin left since they found out who the prince was and decided Yoongi was too lazy to be a threat. But they'll be back in a couple weeks to head another blood spree. We can plan something then?"

"Alright, if you smoke with my friends after." Jimin countered.

"Dinner with mine then party with yours?"

"Deal." Jimin said and Jungkook laughed, this time pulling Jimin fully into his lap.

"So is the no sex rule you set a strict one?" Jungkook asked, tilting his head lazily as Jimin shifted so that he was straddling him.

"Are you offering, Jungkook?" Jimin parroted Jungkook from the first time they'd ever slept together and Jungkook smirked.

"You make me really happy, Jimin. When you're real with me. And when you worry over me. That makes me happy too." Jungkook said and Jimin blushed, shifting in Jungkook's lap.

"What brought that on?" Jimin said, embarrassed and Jungkook just smiled, leaning in to kiss his boyfriend. Jimin's arms draped around Jungkook's neck, melting into the kiss. Their movements were lazy, messily pressing against each other as Jungkook slipped his tongue into Jimin's mouth. Each time they parted for breath, Jimin would rock his hips and tilt his head as their lips connected again, resuming the slowed kiss. The third episode started to play, but the sound was only a background to the increasingly heated breaths between the two.
