Chapter Five: Bonded in Blood

Kim Taehyung loved being a vampire.

His skin was eternally smooth with his youth preserved in the twenty something body he'd been turned about two decades back. It didn't help his vanity how his eyes shone gold when blood past his lips. It made his tan skin pop despite his lack of blood flow.

The one thing that he did hate about being a vampire, was feeding day. Once a month the vampire prince that headed Taehyung's coven would come to wherever Taehyung was staying that year and supervise a blood spree. It was important work, making sure that the younger vampires didn't accidently turn or kill anyone without the higher ups knowing, but God he hated it.

At least Jungkook turned a year ago so now he had a friend for the sprees. Because despite the fact that he literally needed blood to survive, Taehyung despised the taste of it. It was mantellic in most cases and tasted like dirt in the worst.

When Jungkook and him walked out of the Intro to Music Theory discussion section, tears quite literally still in Taehyung's eyes from that shit storm of a dictation quiz, catching their Prince and his Feeder at their dorm door was the last thing he wanted to see.

Taehyung had stopped in his tracks, his heart stopped mimicking a human's blood flow decades ago but if it could have, it would have dropped in that moment. He could already taste the iron filter across his tongue from the blood he'd need to draw. One feeding a month could sustain a vampire efficiently, but they would have to drink a large quantity tonight to do so.

Prince Kim Seokjin smiled at their surprise. He was eternally beautiful: out of the forty or something vampire princes in the world, Seokjin was renowned for being worldwide handsome. His hair was darker than the night sky, slightly curled due to its length. It sat against skin paler than paper and smooth as stone. His lips were naturally dark, red like the blood that past his lip and despite being hundreds of years old, Seokjin wore his twenty-nine-year-old body brilliantly.

Seokjin's face warmed instantly as he ran towards Taehyung and Jungkook and gave them the largest hug imaginable. Namjoon, Seokjin's Feeder, gave them an equally warm look but his hug was much shorter.

Which is how Jungkook and his Euphoria bar night turned from an event to destress and get wasted - into a blood hunt. He wanted to make out with someone tonight, not suck the blood out of their neck then let the venom in his fangs make them believe that they'd made the whole thing up in some drug induced haze.

Taehyung envied Seokjin a bit. Not only was Seokjin a prince, but he also had Namjoon. A human whose blood tasted like honey and was tied to the prince in an old and ancient bond. Feeders were incredibly hard to come by - humans who were willing to waste their youth to live with a vampire as a constant blood supply so that they didn't have to go on these stupid monthly blood sprees.

But the thought of having a feeder was more of a nice fantasy for Taehyung to think about rather than commit to - the idea of being responsible for one person, bonded to them, made him more uncomfortable than sucking the neck of a random stranger who would forget him the next day anyway. So when Seokjin came around each month, Taehyung brushed off the mild discomfort and did as he was told. He fed.

The music boomed in his ears in Euphoria, the friend he'd made in his History of Jazz class, Kang Daniel, was right about the place. People danced at every inch of it, colorful lights flashing overhead and smoke pooling at people's feet. The DJ was playing good mixes of music, not just the same pop song over and over again. Taehyung could appreciate the crowd too. The men and women were all beautiful, which was a shame because if it weren't for Seokjin and Namjoon hovering over his shoulder every minute, he'd be trying to take someone home for an entirely different reason than blood.

Taehyung looked down at the girl he was feeding from now. He pressed her against a dark part of the club, Namjoon's large shoulders shielding her from view of the drunk crowd and Seokjin watched to make sure Taehyung didn't lose control of himself. Blood had a way of doing that.

"Did you venom her first?" Seokjin asked and Taehyung tried not to roll his eyes. Seokjin was kind, genuinely kind, but Taehyung had also been doing these fucking feeding days for decades. He knew to pass venom through his fangs first before starting to drink. It was - ironically - a more humane way of feeding. Made the experience almost pleasurable for the person. Some humans became feeders just because they grew addicted to it.

The girl let out a small breath, her eyes rolling back sleepily as Taehyung pulled his fangs out. Her blood wasn't the worst he'd tasted, there were definitely much more disgusting blends, but it also wasn't the best either. She tasted incredibly bitter, like an espresso shot pulled incorrectly.

"Done?" Namjoon asked and Seokjin jumped for the girl, a handkerchief in his hand as he cleaned the blood from her neck.

"You're definitely neater than Jungkook, I'll give you that." Seokjin laughed as he only needed to do one sweep to wipe off any excess blood. The girl stirred and Namjoon moved to pick her up, setting her down on a nearby couch and calling the first number favorited on her phone so someone could come and pick her up safely.

"I'll stay near her till she's safe." Namjoon said and Seokjin put a hand on Namjoon's chin, giving his cheek a kiss.

Taehyung wanted to vomit, both from the PDA and from the heat down his throat as the blood started to pour into his system. It felt like an electric shock, all of his cells revived at once and his heart even mimicked a beat before settling back into its familiar still. His muscles instantly felt stronger and he knew his eyes were glowing gold as he scanned for Jungkook.

His gaze zeroed in instead on a booth way across the bar where a pale boy with dark hair and large shoulders was sitting. He had a friend to his right and across from him Taehyung watched no one else but his TA, Park Jimin, slip out of the booth and head towards an exit. Taehyung flexed, worry growing stronger for Jungkook. If Jimin was here and Jungkook fed on him, there could be a world of problems ahead of them.

"Alright, one down and one to go. Let's go find Kookie, hm?" Jin said and Taehyung nodded, surprised that he glanced back at the booth instead of the exit to catch the eye of Jimin's pale friend. The worry on the man's brow smoothed into a cat like smirk when he caught Taehyung's flustered gaze before Taehyung broke the eye contact.

"I think I saw him across the club." Taehyung lied, shaking off the strange feeling from Jimin's friend. "I'm just gonna step out for a second, shake the blood off. I'll be right back."

Jin nodded, giving his feeder another quick kiss and Taehyung a pat on the back before he stocked through the crowd to find the young vampire.

Taehyung followed the door Jimin had walked out of, more so worried for Jungkook than for his TA. Jungkook couldn't control his feeding that well yet, Seokjin wasn't lying when he said the guy made a mess of things. Luckily Jungkook never killed anyone yet - but he'd also never fed from someone he felt connected to either, which made him unpredictable.

Besides, Taehyung really didn't want to deal with a new TA. For all Jimin's shit, he was actually really good at teaching them the material and Jungkook drinking him dry would be annoying for Taehyung's grades.

"Fuck, I'm too hot for this cold." Taehyung said as he stepped outside, the recent feeding made his system too human for his liking. His low v neck made of sheer fabric meant that the winter frost pierced right through him as he stepped outside using the door he'd watched Jimin walk out of.

"Ah fucking shit." Taehyung muttered again as he turned the alley to not only see Jungkook sucking some poor guy dry against the wall, his shirt covered in blood, but Park Jimin stopping short in front of him.

"Don't say I never did anything for you." He said, knowing Jungkook's supernatural hearing picked it up as Taehyung sprung onto Jimin, pulling his head back and sinking his teeth into the boy's neck. He felt Jungkook instantly on him, but Taehyung was older and Jungkook knew there would be no winning against him as Taehyung pumped venom into Jimin's system.

When he pulled away, Jimin's eyes were glazed over and a happy grin was on his face. He rolled his neck back, enjoying the high Taehyung gave him as he stumbled to the wall.

"What the Hell were you thinking?" Taehyung said, helping Jimin to the ground and glad to see the drug was making Jimin go semi-conscious. With any luck, Jimin would believe he'd imagined the whole thing - it was better than killing him. "What the fuck Jungkook! Why didn't you wait for one of us to supervise you?"

"I - I don't know. I just wanted to get it over with. I'm sorry." Jungkook said, his hands shaking and the pulse rushing in his veins. Jungkook had only been a vampire for a year, so his heart still mimicked human life. Taehyung frowned, calling Seokjin who came outside in less than a minute. The prince rushed to Jungkook's side, worry on his brow as he saw Jimin on the ground and Jungkook's prey a bloody mess a couple steps away.

"Did you venom him?" Jin asked Jungkook and Jungkook nodded as the prince ran to pick up the other boy. "Jungkook, you have to be more careful than this." Seokjin tsked, cleaning up the blood from the boy's neck and taking off his blood-soaked shirt. "Why didn't you wait for us?"

"I'm sorry." Jungkook said again, his eyes completely fixed on Jimin's frame. Everything looked like it was a step away from him, noise an echo.

Seokjin's gaze warmed. "Tae, get Jungkook out of here. Go make sure the girl you fed on is okay and tell Namjoon to come help me with this. We'll take care of it."

"His friend's number is in his phone." Jungkook said, still shaking and unblinking as he looked down at Jimin who had closed his eyes, enjoying the high flooding through his system.

Seokjin nodded and Taehyung pulled Jimin's phone out using his face to unlock the screen before looking at the first number saved. Min Yoongi.

"I'll grab Namjoon and get Jungkook out of here. I think this might be one of Jimin's friends, call this number when you get the other guy out of here."

Seokjin nodded, standing up and Taehyung had to physically pull Jungkook off of the ground where he had been staring at Jimin. "Come on, Kookie. Let's get you cleaned up."

"He saw me."

Taehyung gave Jungkook's shoulder a squeeze. "I know. Everything is going to be okay. He's going to think he made it up, people don't immedietly jump to the vampire conclusion. Come on."

Jungkook finally stood up and let Taehyung pull him away from the alley. He didn't want to know how Seokjin planned to deal with the bloody mess outside or what repercussions might be in store for them in the future, but he could at least get his friend back home.

"He saw me, Taehyung."

"Kookie, I know. It's going to be okay. You just need to be more careful than this next time."

Jungkook stopped short, shaking his head. "No you don't get it Tae. Jimin saw me and he didn't run."

"What?"

"He didn't run away."

"I mean yea I was on him the second he saw you, right?"

Jungkook's brows furrowed and he chewed his lip piercing before shaking his head in response. "No. You came in right when I was going to say something, actually."

"Maybe he just has a death wish." Taehyung suggested as they made their way back to Namjoon. "Or he was high?"

"He didn't look high."

Taehyung noticed the booth with Jimin's friends had emptied. Namjoon was guarding an empty couch, the girl's friends had found her and thought she'd passed out from having too much to drink. It took less than a minute for Namjoon to jump into action, running to Seokjin outside.

Namjoon told the boys to go back to the dorm and that they'd all meet back up there. Taehyung for one was ecstatic to go back to their room and shower, but on the entire walk back Jungkook wouldn't stop shaking.

Taehyung slipped his hand in his friend's, trying to reassure him, but Jungkook's mind had completely gone somewhere else. He just kept repeating how Jimin hadn't run and to be honest, Taehyung couldn't come up with a good reason as to why not.
