Chapter 7

"Sherry, how are you? I heard about the brawl in the party last night." Marcie asked as soon as she spotted Sherlyn in the corridors.

"I am fine, but Nick isn't." Sherlyn said sadly.

"I am sorry, I hope he gets well soon." Marcie said as they entered the class room. "How did you reach home last night?" She questioned.

"That..umm..." Sherlyn stuttered not knowing what to answer since Marcie warned her to stay away from Ardeth.

"Good Morning class." Professor Ashford greeted making Sherlyn sigh in relief but her happiness was short-lived.

"Good Morning Professor." Ardeth greeted standing by the door dressed in blue shirt and ripped jeans, his messy dark hair dancing on his forehead.

"Mr.Sky." Professor Ashford greeted in surprise, "Wow, I am privileged to have you in the class after a longtime." He said sarcastically.

"Well, I can't say the same." Ardeth smiled  making the Professor go red in embarassment and anger as wolf whistles erupted in the class.

"Silence." Professor Ashford's voice boomed and Ardeth couldn't careless as he lazily sauntered towards the back benches, tapping his fingers on Sherlynn's bench for a brief second.

"Hey man." Temba fist bumped Ardeth as he made space for Ardeth to sit beside him.

Sherlyn discreetly turned around to look at Ardeth and found him watching her sitting in his place with legs lazily stretched.

He winked at Sherlyn making her take in a sharp breathe and turn around. The rest of the class, Sherlyn didn't dare to turn around even though she occasionally heard some bored sighs and grunts.

And when the class was finsihed Sherlyn grabbed her bag and hurriedly walked away with Marcie.

"See you in the evening." Sherlyn said to Marcie and began to walk to her literature class. "Ah.." she squealed when suddenly she was pulled into one of the empty classrooms.

"Stop making noise." Ardeth said as he leaned back with his leg lifted and pressed against the door.

"Why did you pull me in here?" Sherlyn demanded getting angry for scaring her and ordering her not to make noise.

"Because I am getting bored." Ardeth replied cooly as he searched his pockets and pulled out a pack of cigarettes.

"What do I have anything to with what you are feeling?" Sherlyn asked exasperated.

"Aren't you the one who said college is fun, exams are here, blah..blah..., I followed your advice and I am getting bored, you are going to keep my company, so that I don't feel bored alone."

"Are you serious! I have class starting in five minutes." Sherlyn said throwing her hands in air.

"Great." Ardeth said as he lit his cigarette holding it between his lips, "It takes four minutes for me to smoke, if you keep my company till then I will let you go."

Sherlyn had no way but to agree since he was leaning against the door, blocking her way and she had no other way to escape.

"Want one?" Ardeth asked as he offered a cigar to Sherlyn, who stood infront of him playing with the strap of her bag.

"No." Sherlyn shook her head.

Ardeth sighed and continued smoking as Sherlyn quietly observed him. Ardeth raised his brow at Sherlyn as he caught her watching him.

"Smoking is injurious to health." Sherlyn said quietly.

"So is giving unnecessary advice." Ardeth replied back blowing out the smoke.

Sherlyn kept her lips pressed in a thin line as her patience was hanging on an even thin thread, as she was seconds away from snapping the infuriating man infront of her. Even though she was sure that she wouldn't get out alive after doing that.

"Let's go." Ardeth said as he threw the cigarette butt under his shoe and stamped it.

Sherlyn silently made her way towards the literature class hoping that no one caught them exiting the empty classrooms, she doesn't want to get her name plastered in the college's scandalous students list, if there is any.

"Why are you following me?" Sherlyn frowned at Ardeth, who was walking behind her.

"You aren't the only one, who has literature class." Ardeth said as he moved ahead of Sherlyn inside the classroom, making Sherlyn smack her head with the book, she was holding in her hand.

"Are you not coming in?" Ardeth asked as he turned around.

Sherlyn sighed weakly and walked inside the class.

"Why are people so obsessed with useless shit that some nutter wrote." He commented sitting beside Sherlyn in literature class.

"Can you please stay quiet." Sherlyn hissed.

"I am getting bored." He complained.

"Entertain yourself, because no one's going to do it for you." Sherlyn said as she continued listening to Professor Luciana.

"What are you doing?" Sherlyn whisper yelled at Ardeth, as he pulled her hand towards him and held it in a tight grip.

"Entertaining myself." Ardeth smiled innocently as he began to draw circles and figures on the back on her hand.

Sherlyn struggled to free her hand but Ardeth held her hand in between his hands in a tight grip making it hard for her to free herself. She gave up not wanting to attract the audience, but what she couldn't ignore was the tingles that she felt all over her body as Ardeth slowly and teasingly drew the circles on her hand.

"What is he playing at?" Sherlyn thought as she tried hard to concentrate on the lesson.

"The class was fun." Ardeth smiled once Professor Luciana exited the class.

"I can't say the same." Sherlyn hissed as she pulled her hand away from Ardeth and began to gather her books.

"You enjoyed the class too, don't lie." Ardeth teased as he followed her.

"I don't lie."

"Then tell the truth." Ardeth smiled.

"Go away, and let me have my lunch in peace."

"Bon appetite." Ardeth said and walked away.

"What now?" Sherlyn asked weakly as she found Ardeth waiting infront of her class. "The classes are over, go home."

"I was and then thought I could give you a ride." Ardeth grinned.

"Aren't you the one who told me that you don't play Chauffeur?" Sherlyn frowned.

"I don't, but again I can't leave people without a ride."

"For your information, I have a ride." Sherlyn informed. "Marcie will be waiting for me, I neither need a ride nor a Chauffeur." She said and walked past Ardeth.

"If I am you, I wouldn't say that." Ardeth said as he followed Sherlyn.

"Whatever." Sherlyn said as continued walking to the parking lot.

"Please..." Johan requested as he kissed Marcie, who was pressed against her car door. "I promise just an hour." He continued peppering kisses.

"Jo... Sorry,I wish I could but I have to go, remember Sherlyn doesn't have a ride." Marcie ruffled his hair as he kissed her neck.

"Marcie..." Sherlyn coughed awkwardly.

"Hey Sherry..." Marcie breathed out with a smile, as she pushed away Johan, and hurriedly ran a hand through her hair.

"Hey Sherlyn." Johan greeted moving behind Marcie.

"Give me five minutes." Marcie said as fished out the car keys to give to Sherlyn.

"Marcie... Actually, I came to inform you that, one of my classmates offered to give me a ride." Sherlyn said, "I thought it would be a good opportunity to get to know eachother and become friends."

"Woah.. okay." Marcie said. "Call me if you need anything." She said giving a hug to Sherlyn.

"Thank you, have a great time." Sherlyn said and walked away towards the bus stop.

"Crap..." Sherlyn groaned as she missed the bus even after she ran like an athlete to catch it. "I hate this..." She stamped her feet in frustration as she saw Ardeth drinking coke leaning against the hood of his car.

"What a great way to do some exercise." Ardeth clapped earning a glare from Sherlyn.

Sherlyn began to walk away hoping to find a taxi.

"My offer still stands..." Ardeth said as he followed her in his car. "I can still drop you at your home."

"No, thanks. Go away."

"Fine." Ardeth said, "But have you met your neighbour Jessica?"

"No, I don't know anyone by that name in my neighborhood." Sherlyn said puzzled.

"How will you know when she died in a burglar attack last year, on this very road, when she was walking home alone. Poor girl!" Ardeth tsked.

"What?" Sherlyn exclaimed looking around the isolated road.

"She died, infact was killed in this very spot you are standing in." Ardeth said making Sherlyn jump in scare.

"May be you will meet her ghost today or her murderers." Ardeth said a low scary voice looking at Sherlyn's horror stricken face. "Anyways, I am getting late, bye Chèrie." He said as he turned on the ignition.

"Wait..." Sherlyn shouted. "Please drop me at home."

"I thought you don't need a ride?" Ardeth teased.

Sherlyn bit her lower lip embarassed, playing with her fingers.

"Get in." Ardeth let out a deep throaty laugh as he opened the door.
